  • Amateur GoPro footage shot in June 2020 using a GoPro Hero 8 Black in Cherokee National Forest's Compression(Twisting) Falls & Laurel Falls in Tennessee. Compression (or Twisting as it is known locally) Falls is not an official trail and is a rather steep rock descent to reach. On the day we went, the water was a bit too high to risk camera equipment, so we did not venture close to the falls. The rocks right before the falls were very slick. Laurel Falls on the other hand is an official Appalachian Trail segment. It is quite well maintained and a very pretty, out and back trail.

Compression falls: I was just there like one month ago. Beautiful waterfall (filmed a drone video) but they should do something with the trail. Pretty steep especially for older people.

It really didn't look like an official trail. I wanted to get closer to the falls at the base, but as you can see from the brown water, it was a little high. Plus the spray from the falls was making the rocks extremely slippery.
