    The placement of the various vocals is brilliant. The lead lines bounce left-right like a conversation in front of you and the background seems to swell around you in a chaotic manner. Tension building at its best.

    Weird is the most underrated song on the album. At first i skipped it but when you really listen to it after gone through the album, it sounds cool.

    It's interesting they thought of "Weird" as a skip track, because I usually do skip it, actually. Particularly during the second verse. But I liked the Tiny Desk version of it with Tiny Habits quite a bit.

    • @quenyasansel
      @quenyasansel Před 6 měsíci

      I can’t speak for everyone else, but I have yet to meet anyone who actually sits down and writes them. For me, it’s just about getting in the studio, playing around and throwing absolutely everything at the wall to see what sticks. We usually have a rough idea of where we want them to be and what we want them to do to the song, but then when we go to record, it just multiplies and changes over time, and we never end up where we started.
      If you’re interested in learning and don’t know where to start, try picking a couple of nursery rhymes or something else with a very simple, repetitive melody and just record yourself singing harmonies over it again and again and again. Then try turning off the lead and sing the song without ever singing the melody. Then play that track along with the lead and listen for harmonies. If you’re a singer and are comfortable with scales, there will probably be quite a few. Then pick out a few places where something interesting happens and figure out why it’s interesting.
      Personally, I think it always starts with the feeling you want to evoke in yourself or the people listening. If it’s a simple love song, too many layers and complicated harmonies will probably sound off, no matter how beautiful.
      I’ll stop rambling. Just get out there and try something! For me, it’s always the most fun part of recording, but it’s super boring if you have everything planned ahead of time!
