I very closely connect with you and your story. Thank you, your words help encourage me and remind me to trust myself and know all things come with time. Let go of my expectations and know these skills will develope over time. Thank you, I wish you all the best.
Do you remember what species of wood that was? When I try to carve feathers, and the tips of the barbs always break off when I'm finishing them. I don't know if I'm making my feathers too thin, or using too soft of a wood. I've been using Alder, because it grows like a weed here, and the shrapnel from chopping firewood is the perfect size for feather carving.
This one is oak, I would look for wood that have condensed fibers like olive tree, oak, maple, cherry and plum(these are just some I worked with recently but there are many more) also make sure you work with a dry piece that didn’t rot, even a bit. Even this piece dried on the ground in the forest and is a tiny bit rotten, and it was not the ideal piece, hope it helps(:
Bonjour Nadav, j’ai bien aimé votre narration. Votre plume est magnifiquement réalisée. Quelle bois avez-vous utilisé pour la travailler ? Merci pour le partage et votre réponse, Michèle

Very engaging. What type of wood and knife were you using?
I use here a mora 120 and a rough rider pocket knife with a reshaped the blade(:
