  • In this video we look at the frame mount on a kubota tractor to see just how easy it is to install a frame mount for a backhoe. we also look into the hydraulics needed to run the backhoe and I explain just how simple it is to install.

    That's a very good description. So, let's see if I understand this right: Once the tractor is lifted up on the bucket and backhoe outriggers, just about all of the backhoe digging forces are being handled by the loader plus that backhoe subframe that gets added on, and the rest of the tractor is just kind of hanging there. Does that sound about right?

    • @daveknowshow
      @daveknowshow  Před 7 lety +1

      well yes, however there is great debate over how much you lift a tractor's wheels off the ground when using the backhoe. some manuals say lift the wheels off the ground as needed some say merely ease the weight off the wheels but keep rubber contact in place. so your point is correct the majority of the work load is distributed through the tractor's sub-frame combination of backhoe and loader. very good summary I wish I had included that!

      that is one of the units that attaches to the existing three point. they do ok but they do put a lot of pressure on the three point where it attaches to the tractor. you can do a lot of digging with this style of backhoe but you MUST go easy in my honest opinion. with that said if a three point unit is what you will settle for I would look for a used one. while your at it look for a used factory kubota frame mount backhoe. many times people buy them and then sell them for what ever reason. we had one for sale last year in our group on facebook. " kubota tractor and equipment " if I remember correctly they only wanted 3500.00 for it and it was a frame mount kubota backhoe attachment. I'm sure its sold now but the point is there are some out there for sale used. find out what model fits your tractor and do a search nationally on craigslist. you just find one at a great price.

    Dave, Does it matter which line goes where? Meaning, I am installing a new rear hydraulic line on my L3130. Which is the power beyond send on the backhoe hookups and which is the power beyond return on the backhoe? (On the backhoe) One is a long line with male coupler, the other is a short line with the female coupler. I just want to make sure I get it all hooked up correctly. If this makes sense.

    • @daveknowshow
      @daveknowshow  Před 5 lety

      trace the line back from the backhoe toward the front of the tractor. the line that goes to the power beyond port at the front end loader control lever is the power coming out fluid travels from the loader control valve to the backhoe where its used and then comes out the backhoe. this hydraulic circuit is an in series type set up. see my video totled understanding tractor hydraulics so you can see exactly how the circuit works. czcams.com/video/DAeW5eqEqvM/video.html

    I am about to buy a BH77 for my L3800, what model backhoe do you have ? I am not entirely sure what size bucket to get, I was going to go with the middle of the road size and try 16", I know I can't do what bigger units do for work, so this will help me take less material while digging putting less stress on the unit. What do you suggest ?

    • @daveknowshow

      honestly a 16 is the perfect size in my opinion. The Bh77 took the place of the Bh75 which came on the older tractors like mine. its not a lot of difference between the two as far as strength. the 77 does dig an inch or so deeper. I hope to get the quick coupling from bxpanded for the backhoe bucket and maybe get the trenching bucket to go along with my 16 inch bucket.

    • @daveknowshow
      @daveknowshow  Před 3 lety

      maybe 10 minutes its not hard at all. and the nice part is that its a solid full frame four point backhoe once its in place. much better and stronger than a three point backhoe that has no frame mount. honestly having a tractor with no hoe is like having a tractor with no front end loader. it really limits the ability of the machine. I have taken the machine with the backhoe on loaded it and my brush hog on the tractor. went to a brush hog job that had some large 5 inch trees and took them out with the hoe then installed the hog and proceeded to mow. then changed it all back for the ride back home on the trailer. so its not hard at all. the more often you do it the faster it becomes. I doubt it will take you more than 15 minutes the first time.
