50 miles in Shenandoah National Park! | Appalachian Trail Section Hike | 4-day Inn-to-Inn experience

We felt adventurous this summer and wanted to broaden our horizons beyond day hikes. We’ve also wanted to hike more of the Appalachian Trail. However, we weren’t ready to camp outside or carry ALL of our stuff.
We were excited to discover inn-to-inn hiking in Shenandoah! There are 3 Inns, each less than 10 miles apart, along the peaks of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. We carried all of our clothing, hiking essentials, 3-4 liters of water each, plenty of snacks, and our lunches each day. We dropped off supplies ahead of time at LMC and took advantage of the restaurants at BM and SL. We hope you enjoy the video!
Day 1: Smith Roach Gap to Lewis Mountain Cabins
Appalachian Trail throughout
9:36 AM to 4:05 PM with breaks
13.68 miles, 3,166 ft of elevation gain
Day 2: Lewis Mountain Cabins to Big Meadows
Added Bearfence Loop Trail with rock scramble and Lewis Spring Falls Trail (near BM)
8:53 AM to 3:47 PM with breaks
11.58 miles, 2,172 ft of elevation gain
Day 3: Big Meadows to Skyland
Started with Story of the Forest Trail, Dark Hollow Falls Trail, and Rose River Loop Trail
8:47 AM to 4:00 PM with breaks
13.00 miles, 2,752 ft of elevation gain
Day 4: Skyland to Thornton Gap
Added the small Stony Man Trail loop and some extra AT beyond TG
