I too have slug and snail pellet repellents but I’m mostly reluctant to use them unless I absolutely have no choice. My once leafy hostas were being completely decimated by snails (and I suspect slugs too) so I ended up using the organic pellets to deter them.
I’ve got Brussel sprouts in my vegetable garden and I noticed something was feasting on the leaves so I tried a different approach using crushed egg shells mixed with either powdered cayenne pepper or chilli pepper plus chopped/grated garlic.
Seems to have worked a treat on several levels:
1. The sharp edges of the egg shells are uncomfortable to the soft underbelly of snails and slugs - so a good deterrent
2. The Cayenne / Chilli powder are detested by cats and foxes (as they’ve got sensitive noses) so they keep away from digging up my beds as they love soft soil.
3. Squirrels absolutely abhor garlic so they stay away from digging up and burying nuts in my vegetable beds
Note: you’ll need to wash your eggshells with warm soapy water to rid them of any albumen as that apparently will attract rats/mice from afar.

Hi herbaltea5546 thank you so much for joining in I actually have tried eggshells and even wool mats and my squashes were completely decimated. I’ve used chilli powder mostly for mice and it seems to work. Happy to hear your vegetables are safe from whatever is eating them
Slugs aren't even good for fishing. They are too mushy,and they fall off the hook and the fish don't seem to like the taste. In the garden , using jar lids full of beer seems to drown them when they drink it.
I tried the beer trap once I didn’t have much success maybe I should try again
