I just got a new Danelectro 12 string, and thought I'd do one of my tone demos on it. - Hudba
When you get stoned it becomes a 24-string.
48 with an xtc! ^^
When you get stoned you become this guy
HA.. 24 strings and double that in frets
So that’s why my 12 string has only 6 tuners.
Get even higher while you practice and you’ll play it like it has 24 strings too
Wow I don't know about you guys but I think this guy might be a beatles fan
Hah! Good call ;)
Who are the Beatles?
@@kashphlinktu please tell me you’re joking…
@@patrickosullivan7783 I’ve spent a hard days night trying to figure out who this odd little lonely hearts club band is. I guess with a little help from my friends I can work it out!
heard that bridge pickup and I was sold.
That harpsichord analogy was great.
Thanks, it just kinda popped into my head.
This is such a dad video I love it. Also beautiful tone oml.
Thanks for watching, akira!
This video single-handedly sold me on one of these. Squirreling away a bit of money every week and saving up for one now.
I hope you enjoy it once you get it!
Love your playing; clean with perfect timing.
I love your poster of Bread on the wall behind you.
+Noel Goetowski that's the Beatles.... unless you're joking...
+Jeff Kahl I am. :)
I thought it was Justin Beiber
* The Breadles
No it's a picture of 4 of this guys disciples.
I watched your demo on a whim last night. Enjoyed it so much I bought one today. Thank you!
You rock that wholesome dad vibe with true heart. What a great demo and your playing is totally stellar. I'm gonna watch more of your vids now, thank you. That strap is totally killer too by the way.
This guitar definitely sounds so much bigger than the pittance most people need to pay for one.
I always feel gypped that I started playing music at a moment when “Stairway” was banned - but some bands I’ve been in would play any other Zeppelin tune. Also, I almost purchased a double-neck like you’re selling, back in 2000.
Dan’s made of the cheapest materials and sound so killer!
True dat!
So awesome
I love the David Bowie at the end! I totally enjoyed your video. You make me want to play guitar, unlike the internet punks that think they know everything.
Hey, thanks for watching! If you don't already play guitar, now's the day to start.
They sure do love themselves, right. I'm not keen on those guys either.
So do i.
Ned Flanders plays your favorite hits. 12 string guitars are a Love/ Hate thing. A little goes a long way but nothing like it.
Okely dokely!
I enjoyed your video! Your playing sounds great and your enthusiasm is infectious. I'm picking up a Dano 12 today. Take care.
Hey, that's great! I hope my video helped you to make a good decision. I enjoy playing mine a lot (as you can probably tell).Check in again sometime after you've played yours for a while and let me know what you think.
Oh boy, I’m definitely going to need one of those guitars. Great playing by the way 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Terrific playing,thanks !
I'm picking up the guitar again after a 20-year hiatus because I have something stuck in my brain that needs an electric 12-string. I was wavering between this and the Ibanez Artcore. You made up my mind for me, thanks! I'll have it in my sweaty little hands on Monday.
Thoroughly enjoyed the tunes you played here. Great video. Thanks
Thank you kindly!
Beautiful sound and great playing.
Jesus Wept hahahahhaa!!
Rr Mayonte I had to pause and laugh for a few minutes
you sold me, i gotta get one. been wanting a 12 for a while now and this one just sounds so unique and jangly. especially for a guitar made of plywood essentially. you're a funny ass dude too, going to sub to your channel
R.E.M. - South Central Rain (great 12-string song!)
Great video. These Danelectro 12s look awesome
The first guitar I ever had was a Danelectro , sold a Sears Silvertone , we bought in 1963 .. I want to buy this 12 string ! Very cool ! 👍💗
A very impressive intro to "look through any windows" you got there. Have just bought a Burns 12 string electric myself, so my eyes is staring at this particular intro. Cudos to Tony Hicks and you :O) well done mate
Hey, Allan- When I first figured out "Look Through Any Window", that's the fingering that made most sense to me. It turns out that it's not the way that Tony fingers it, but I've been doing it my way for so many years that it's just habit.
Thanks for watching, and I'll bet you're enjoying that Burns. That is a totally cool looking guitar!
Thanks for playing through all the pickup configs. Tons of videos neglect that element.
I was hooked from the "J wept" ...lined with those fantastic tones and sinkered with a clip of Space Oddity... Superb'
Thanks for listening!
Thanks for a very musical review.
At the end I was thinking, “He’s gotta do look through any window” and you did. That was sick. 12 string, you gotta do the Tony hicks
I've loved 12s since 1963 when I first encountered instrumental LPs by Billy Strange. Over the years I've had many 12s (never an electric) but now feel that the Taylor 562ce has the most amazing action and playabability all up and down the neck. One day I hope to compare it to something like the Danelectro or a Ricky but for now, it's a real keeper.
it's all about that bridge pickup!!
Thank you. This is the only good review of these guitars on youtube.
Loved the video. Thanks
Thank-you Nice demo video.
Far out! Just yesterday I randomly picked up one of the new ones with an F-hole and gave it a quick play, unamped. I really enjoyed it. Your video sounds as good as I hoped. Oh, sure enough....two songs I tried on it, Led Zeppelin's "Over the Hills and Far Away" and the Hollies' "Look Through Any Window." My youngest son, now away in college, has my Danelectro DC3...and I miss that Dano sound.
Great Review!....I Have one of their 12 strings they did in the early 2000's ....Blue Sparkle finish ...No F Hole.....These are really Amazing sounding instruments
I play keys in a 60's Tribute Band ... and want to buy a 12 String to also play. I want to thank you for this demo. I'm glad you played 12 string guitar tunes. Too many demos are prettyesque chordal original melodies. All I wanted to hear was The Tunes and you gave them to me. Thanks.
Not a problem at all, Vito! Thanks for watching. No matter which electric 12 string you decide upon, they always work well in a 60's tribute band. One of my bands has three guitarists, and just for a laugh, we all played our 12 string guitars during a performance a while back (two electrics and an acoustic). That would qualify as "overkill"!
Tonstartssbandht (guitar and drum) uses this model. great sounding guitar! Thanks for the Report!
Andy from Mac Demarco's other band
jk92 thank you for posting! I am happy that you experienced a good phenomenon. You are part of it!
jammy band but no substance songwise pretty vague sound .
zzz wy listen to some of their older albums, they’ve got some amazing songs. their jammier stuff is just their live performances
Edwin G White I love you and your kids thanks for the bangin chunes fellas
Mooseboy,
After watching your video, I decided to purchase a Danelectro 12 string and I am very impressed by the quality build and sound. My Danelectro has a lipstick pickup at the bridge and a humbucking pickup at the neck. Thank you for video.
Lindsey
Great to hear! Hope you have a long and happy relationship with it.
I am really surprised on how good that sounds!!
I got DC59 ('Page' model with modded bridge) and that's my all-time fav axe. looking now for a 12 string, and while I'd want something different, I am getting more and more tempted to buy second dano. thanks to your video as well, you seem like a really cool guy! cheers!
Artur Kujawa Artur, thanks for watching. I really enjoy playing and demo'ing my guitars, there's no such thing as too many!
Sounds very awesome. Like that lipstick pickup tone :)
10 seconds in and I already love this video! Great stuff!!!
I bought one in red.. what hes says its nice I'm very happy very low action sounds great
Love it! May want to get one for myself
I LOVE these guitars, the fret action is So low and Fast. You don't even feel like your playing a 12 string, no thinking about it...just plays naturally!
+Mike Fu Agreed!
love your play
Good job man - just what I wanted to see/hear - the elec 12 on great classic songs, Byrds, Beatles, etc. (a shot of Tom Petty would be icing on the cake). Helps me decide on buying one of these models! Thank you
Great, glad I can be of help!
Mate great little video, I own one myself and love it, I notice yours has a gloss finish the one I have is matt. Nice one.
Acabo de encargar una, despues de ver tu video, mil gracias¡¡
Well done, thanks 🙂👍🏻❤️
Thanks for watching!
great report!
Yea good video, I wouldn,t have showed almost dropping the guitar. Very cool!
May just go buy one today.... Thank you!
Before he said where's Ringo I was already hearing that drum beat in my head ha ha.
That intro just made my morning hahahaha
Thanks for the detailed review. Really enjoyed your playing!I'm thinking of getting one and was curious if you'd ever played the semi-hollowbody model? If so, how do they compare? Thanks!
That's the best guitar I've heard in a while
Hey, thanks for watching! I sure enjoy playing it.
Superb!
Love it.
Just ordered one..I always wanted one but this review clinched it for me...thanks
Hey, thanks for watching! Please come back later after you've had some time with yours, and let me know what you think about it.
@@Mooseboy08 Man I got it 3 days ago and was kind of nervous to put it through my 100w amp. I had only ever played a 12 string acoustic guitar when I was like 12 and find it difficult to hold the chords down. Well Im 17 now so bigger hands etc and gosh this guitar is easy to play! (got from those famous German folk..2 day delivery..rad!) I think you will agree on 2 things..1) clamp on tuner is a MUST, because if a single string goes out of tune it sounds horrible and 2) be careful of belt buckle and so on because it scratch up real easy. But otherwise WOW what a sound on a pretty cheap guitar..I have the longscale bass also. Build quality is awesome ..looks awesome..vibe awesome..so thankyou for your review..I'm so happy I got it..Convertable next when I get my autumn allowance...thankyou Moosboy08
Oh and strap buttons are horrible..my only negative
Hey, thanks for checking back in! Glad to hear that you're happy with the new axe. And yeah, those strap buttons are NOT good.
Dude, great demo sounds great ... your verbage is a hoot man ;) BTW- diggin' the Byrds.
Thanks, cc11! I haven't watched this one in a long time, and I have to admit that my quirky take on it is kinda funny!
And holy cow… over 77,000 views on this video! There's definitely some major interest in the Dano 12 in the world. Glad I could spread some love on it.
Cool video man .......Loved the Hollies Look through any window..........Met Éric Haydock once ..really nice guy RIP
I dig Danelectro guitars. I have a 60’s convertible that’s incredible. 🎶😜
Great video, it's sold me a 12 string Danno 😍😍😍
Good choice!
12 string adds magic to a lot of different tunes. I have a beat to crap Hondo explorer that MAY wind up a 12. I've located everything I need, I just need to decide if I should.
Nice sounding 12 string. Sounds nice and jangly the way they should, good song selectio also. Could you please tell me where you got the Beatles art behind you? I would love to buy one, really nice piece. Thanks very much.
So fun! New subscriber!
Got mine! Love it, but can you tell me what kind of strings you use and where they can be bought cheaper?
Loved this tbh aha
I'd also be interested in knowing what amp you are playing this through (curiosity). Guitar Center flyer just came in the mail with this model on sale, just sold my house, think I'll treat myself right and buy a nice toy for all the bust ass I had to do. Thanks for the great video, your obvious joy of playing and A+ on the sound quality of your video, it helps one decide .
Wesley, thanks for watching. I'm pretty sure at that time I was using a Vox Valvetronix VT30. I've since traded that in for a Valvetronix VT20+. I really like those. Congrats on selling your house, and yes, you definitely deserve a treat!
And remember, put some straplocks on it!
I'd never heard of this brand of guitar before i went to see a band at my local pub/bar and i was chatting to the guitarist who had one and he let me have a little play of it and i instantly fell in love with it now all i have to do is find room for another guitar haha thanks for posting this pal
They've been around for a long time, Jimmy Page is pretty well known for using Danos (Danelectros). They really are a great value for the money, and have their very own type of sound with the lipstick tube pickups. And hey, there's always room for another guitar!
Yeah that's where i recognised it when he first took it out of his case and i think I've seen george harrison use one swell at some point
Mooseboy08 Is this a Chinese or Korean reissue? I've got a Korean guitar and it plays amazingly. The Chinese guitar I own doesn't, and I'm dubious.
***** , this is a Korean reissue, and I'm really impressed with how easy it is to play.
Mooseboy08 Koreans are actually really good at making guitars now. They've been doing it so long that they can make a cheap guitar that plays as good as some luthier in 1969 could make one.
Amazing intro
wow great diddley demo , i'm bidding on one at the moment …wish me luck Moose ??
Jesus wept... subscribed for that comment alone...
Love the accent me old matey (from UK) . Nice demo.
I just bought this guitar. The front strap peg is in a really bad place. When I strap it on the neck will move towards the floor. LOVE the guitar but wondered if anyone else had this issue. Also thinking about moving peg to horn.
I love electric 12 string guitars
Rock on!
I like that picture behind him of The Monkees.
That's not the monkees, it's fall out boy
@@BoxesOfFoxes You're so damn stupid, that's obviously The Byrds
It’s fucking Queen
It's not the Monkees, it's the Rutles.
Love the songs you chose to demo the guitar with! Is fretting the strings that much harder with a 12 string? I find myself acquiring more of taste for '60's and' 70's jangly type of songs and was debating on getting a 12 string. Great demo!
Love 12 strings. Some of my favorite songs.
That was most definitely in violation of the prime directive. 😆 Stairway Birds and Floyd.
Excellent video. What would you recommend as an FX pedal for that Byrds sound (given that I can't afford a Janglebox)?
Thanks for watching, Mike. You should be able to find an MXR Dyna Comp for about $80 that would work really well with any electric twelve string.
Great.
Sounds great! What amp are you using?
That guitar sounds sweet...me wants!
They're not expensive at all… go ahead and splurge a bit! ;)
Mooseboy08 if I can convince my wife I need another guitar 🎸
If you want to put Gilmour's Martin D12-28 on WYWH to shame... Give a try to an old Hagström BJ-12
They you'll find out why the BJ-12 was used by Bowie, the Beatles, Zappa, Genesis or Cat Stevens... And it's the real Space Oddity sound
These 50y cats can be found for the 5th of the price of a D12-28.
Mine is a 1968 one and is absolutely still gorgeous and fully playable. Paid €690 for it, incl. shipping.
Beware : these are jumbos, the only gigbags I found were Ritter RGP5/8, there are also few hardcase that fit the BJ-12
Like it. What sounds this model with f-holes? More twangy...?
Great description.12 string jingles like a harpsichord.
Jesus wept when Lazurus died . . .loved the bible quote 1st words and saving the video for us rather than editing out the guitar 1/2 fall and quick save.
Respect to you sharing for your video gift.
Cool Guitar strap!
Nice catch!
This guitar does sound "Chuck Shummer"ish to me!
Try an open A minor chord on the forbidden "Stairway", and a one finger E minor chord on the A string for
"Space Oddity".
Nice link to your band 👏!
Cool, thanks!
Did Will Ferrell base his middle school music teacher character after you?! Sorry, just teasing you... thank you for the video! I’m thinking of getting a 12-string and I can’t make up my mind. I have humongous hands and was a bass player many years ago, so a wide neck would be best.
I'm thinking of selling my Gretsch and picking up one of these. The Gretsch doesn't have enough jangle for me.
Does your bridge pickup sound thin. I like jangle, but it's a bit to thin IMO. Also, quieter than the neck.
Ahh, everyone can bugger off, I love love love Stairway, and when I can finally play it correctly,(just learning), I will play it to death! Even bought a left handed double neck just for it.
So glad you didn't do Stairway or Freebird haha. But how much did you get one of these for? Cause I'd love to get a Dan 12string.
Dak's Entertainment Center Thanks for watching! I think it ran listed about $399 at Guitar Center, but I brought in a piece of used gear and got 10% off plus the trade in for the used gear. So probably about $345-$350 plus tax.
What amp are you using here or anything that you plug in? And by the way what model exactly is that? I am aiming at the one with double knoobs.
You've sold me this video was fantastic
Nice video! Yes, strap locks are a must! :)
Had 2 different strap locks break and fall apart. And I''m not talking about the nut and washer coming loose. I'm talking about the spring loaded assembly falling apart. False sense of security. Kind of defeats the whole purpose of having them.
