Excerpt from a workshop at Stanford | Ramana Balachandhran

Here we start by exploring some nadai exercises, and then move on the Swarakalpana, where we discuss methods to generate more aesthetic ideas using the framework of ‘kanakku’. Kanakku can be made to sound more than just math, and here are some attempts at that - melding melodical nuances with Layam/rhythm. Finally we discuss some modes and methods of Alapana phrasing.
