My good luck with Chinese airlines continues! This is footage from Sichuan Airlines flight number 8965 from Chengdu to Shanghai a few weeks back, and it was a really great experience overall. As a matter of fact, there were 6 distinct ways they impressed me.
The aircraft operating this route was an Airbus A330-200 (B-6517), and I had seat number 17A in economy class.

I had the pleasure to fly with *Sichuan Airlines* within Europe on one of their 5th freedom flights. 😍 Their service was exceptional even on a 1 hour flight. Worth every penny!

Great video once again! Sichuan Airlines has a pretty impressive domestic economy product, the food looks good. Having airlines swap aircraft types can really be a pain, especially if it was supposed to be an A350.. But they will be around for the time being ;)

One thing i love Sichuan Airlines comparing to other Chinese airline is that, if the meal is not spicy enough, they have a jar of spice for you to add (by request)
I too have watched many American CZcamsrs have a go at Chinese Airlines and I went on a long haul flight recently and it was awesome. I have been on a number of American and Australian airlines and if U want crap service U should look at them first. No food, no movies ( even on long haul flights). U just stare at the seat in front of U for 10 hours. Yippee !
Hey! I thought of a cool idea and no one has really done it before but if you have a 360 camera you could record the insides of a plane and do a VR video! I love my Google cardboard and it would be dope to see this come to life and I trust you could execute this flawlessly

Just flew sichuan airlines today and I have to say they are actually pretty good I flew from Chengdu Tianfu international to Melbourne Airport on there a350 amazing
it's alright when it's international flight because a few months ago I went from Australia to Sichuan in that airline for around 10 - 11 hours. It was good but also kind of bad mainly because of how they don't have much stuff to watch on the screen. Over all i would give it a 9.5 out of 10.

I'm set to fly them in Economy from LAX-Jinan and Chengdu-Jinan LAX as part of a tour this spring. They sound like a cut above Air China.

Wow! What excellent service in economy on a short flight. Heck, I flew 'First class' on Delta from DCA to ATL a few weeks ago. You received better amenities on your coach flight.
Yeah I was definitely blown away! 😮 It likely had a lot to do with the fact that CTU-PVG is a heavy business-Traveler route...maybe. 🤷🏼♂️ It was good though!

I took Sichuan airline flight form Chengdu (CTU) to Guangzhou (CAN), really liked the Check In process (one can check in at any counter as mentioned in video)
More airlines / airports need to adopt that check in procedure IMHO. 😎👍🏻
@@sanspotter Actually CTU Terminal 1 is hub of sichuan airlines, hence they can manage such check in process. Bigger airports with dedicated airlines like Doha(QatarAirways), AUH (Etihad) may work like this (I have never checked on these airports so i am not sure how they works)but other airports with mix airlines may not be able to do that
I fly Sichuan airlines a lot because I live in Chengdu. its A350 is extremely impressive, have a try someday.it's gonna make you feel that the flight worths every penny .

We start with a view of Chengdu, and suddenly, the airport. Sichuan Airlines impressed him in 6 ways:
1. The check-in process. It literally looks like any old check-in to me, but he says you can check in for your flight at any counter, giving him his ticket in minutes.
We walk through the terminal, which appears very "glassy." He sits down and does the... Chair thing he does. Only people who have watched a video of his in the past know what I'm talking about. Oh yeah, and a very important thing about any Asian country, really.... They will try to sell things to you if you look like you are even mildly interested. Suddenly, one of the "butterers" appears, also known as the Airbus A330. He boards, which leads us into NUMBER TWO!
2. A "highly enthusiastic cabin crew." I must admit, they seemed very pleased to be there, which is the polar opposite of any flight on ANY American airline you will find. They do NOT want to be there. At all.
We see one of his "time stamps," which says "The world would be a better place if everyone was as happy as this cabin crew was." While that may be true, happiness does not count for the many ways that we are polluting our environment, from the methane from cows to the CO2 from freighter DC-10s/MD-11s. Also, if everyone were happy all the time, doesn't that sort of eliminate the purpose of having arguments? Arguments are healthy for everything. Otherwise, it's just compromise! Nobody would be really happy in their lives.
We get a short tour of the seat, although I want numbers. How much legroom is there? How much recline? Width? These are all questions a short trip to SeatGuru can answer.
3:40 And he just threw down EVERY OTHER TRIP REPORT CHANNEL THAT EVER EXISTED. We see the safety card, which doesn't look bad, as it has the Airbus symbol for the A330 as, well, the A330.
3. He expected an old interior with ratty seats, but he could not stop thinking positive thoughts of the plane! I can tell you one thing about the LCCs in the USA... They are just there for the money! And people will continue to pay the lowest fare, which is why Spirit is the fastest growing airline in the US right now. Asian airlines just tend to be good in general. Anyone who doesn't say so is usually the same person who flies only Qatar and Emirates business/first class and refuses to think any other seat is good.
Also, what happened to the takeoff video? We technically got one, but now I feel nostalgic for those 5-minute long takeoff rolls that you used to have, where I am comforted by the sounds of the engine.
4. Extensive route map, covering places like Asia, Oceania, Europe, and the good old AMERICAAAAAAA F*** YEAAAAHHHHH!! (Sorry. Had to do it for the meme.)
Headphones were passed out, which looked like slightly below average airline earbuds. Airlines like Delta seem to have better earphones than that. Unfortunately, they are pay-to-use headphones, and for that reason, I didn't use any on my entire 3-day trip last week, when we traveled on this set of routes: MCO-BOS-JFK-SAN-MSP-MCI-DTW-MCO. That was rough and it reminded me of the good old days when we didn't need to use earbuds and the only entertainment was outside. A lot of airlines are capitalizing off of this idea of IFEs distracting people from other things, and that's why companies like American are decreasing legroom in some seats. (Although the 737 MAX doesn't make sense... Less legroom and no IFE? Come on, American.)
5. You get a bottle of water in economy class on domestic routes.
6. The food. While it did look delicious, I have no idea what I'm seeing. Bamboo shoots? A bao bun of sorts? I dunno.
And finally, we get a good ending with some conclusive statements and a final shot of the aircraft. I think this is the first video with a good ending.
But I do have my complaints. Number one is the takeoff roll. Why did you get rid of the sound? That was the good part about it! Number two is the lack of airplane bathroom footage. That's your thing! Bathroom footage! Is your channel changing? Because those two were the only good parts of your old videos, and now you're getting rid of them. THIS IS NOT WHAT I SUBSCRIBED FOR! Well, it is, but... Not for this kind of content. Okay, it was for this kind of content. At least you're giving me something to complain about.
Overall, decently made video, but you lacked speech about the food, restroom, and seat, and there was no takeoff audio.
With your help, I do believe that I’m becoming much better at this! 😆👍🏻 I actually really enjoy reading your summaries, because you pull things out of my content that I hadn’t even noticed. Like the lack of sound on takeoff for example - you’re exactly right about it being an important element. Thanks as always for taking the time to write such a detailed summary! 😮😎👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

What a great idea for check in...any counter any flight...Australia should try that as these days its all check yourself in with a machine that only works some of the time! Funny stuff about the terminal BUT you are in China!! Is matching shoes a fashion statement ? I agree about the pilot...must have trained or be educated in the U.S or the U.K ...I know they fly to Melbourne Australia and I would consider flying with them ( but in Business Class) based on your economy review !

It was definitely great for domestic flights, but it may be not that nice when you realize that they use the (almost) same aircraft/product for long-haul international flights and 3U is still very new at it.
I’d love to try them internationally just to see how it compares. I’d hope they are better than US carriers. 😬

Most Chinese airlines have Captains from English speaking countries because of the Captain shortage, and Chinese airlines pays them good salary. The captain in this video is definitely someone from other countries. And Sichuan Airline has hundreds of foreign captains, which is the company in China has most foreign captains.
He's definitely chinese from his slang...im sure many chinese nowadays are fluent in english....
@@irishque As a Chinese, I can tell from his slang that he is not a Chinese, including his accent and the way he pronounce Chinese cities. Sichuan Airline has lots of foreign captains not only from English speaking countries, but many other countries or regions(especially Taiwan) where people can speak good English. But you are right, many Chinese nowadays are fluent in English, and I really hope more Chinese pilots can reach this good level of English!

Shuangliu airport is the headquarter of Sichuan airline so it operated 2/3 zones in Shuangliu airport Terminal 1. And Sichuan Airline offers the best food options in mainland China though it is not descent, it is really delicious. Chinese airlines are not that good, the reason for you feel it is so good is that the US carriers are so bad, the comparison makes difference. and yes, Sichuan airline frequently changes the flight they use on few lines. Luckily I have flown its A350, what a wonderful flight and impressive food option. Though it is not as decent as Cathay Pacific, one of my favorite, it makes me feel home.
I really wish I could have flown on one of their A350s - maybe next time!

They just sell very cheap tickets for individuals, and normal price tickets to business passangers. As this company is owned by Sichuan province, and the railway system in Sichuan is less complete than Eastern provinces in China, flights from Chengdu to Beijing or other major cities in China are very profitable from goverment/business passangers - They run like over 10 flights from Chengdu to Beijing EVERYDAY!
1:21 right, especially at tourist destinations, do not buy the stuff they sell there. It's mostly overpriced and of low quality. Being a person from Chengdu, I've too much experience with that. Instead, go to places that aren't that much of a tourist hotspot. The stuff there is much cheaper and just better.
