    The year was 2000. He was 34/35 years old, about 6 years after his barcelona days. He adapted his game, perfecting his finishing further and becoming more of a poacher, since he didnt have that much speed anymore, but kept his skill and flair until his final days as a player. A true underrated genius. The best inside the box ever!

    The year was one of the last years Brazilian teams could have good squads to play against European team, so yes it was pretty hard.

    At that time, it was the golden age of Brazilian football. romario was always top scorer no matter his age. no one in the world was better than him with the number 9 shirt.

    What you asked is simple to answer, basically Romário left Barcelona for Flamengo when he was the best player in the world, today such a scenario with any player is unimaginable, but he preferred to return to his hometown rather than stay in Europe, because could not stay away from Brazilian culture for long. And the Brazilian league at that time was much better than today, I would venture to say that on a technical level it was easily one of the 3 best in the world. In the season of this video (2000) he was already a little older, but his quality was the same, he did all this with goals because the Brazilian calendar at that time was very intense, there were many competitions and many games. it made it easier for him to score so many goals. Vasco won the league in that year

      @Ahasveros7674 Před rokem +3

      You are absolutely right. Financially hé could also make the same in Brasil as at Barcelona, so he went back to Brasil. That is the reason why here in Europe Many people dont’t realise what a fantastic player he was.

      @@Ahasveros7674 Finally someone saying the truth, in Europe we think we are the best, while is not always true, we simply do not know a lot about Romario, incredible technique and the capacity to understand what was the best thing to do, not the most spectacular but the better thing to score a goal. In our days and with the game that have changed (defenders can't play as in the 90' and early 2000) he would score easy 70 gol per year... easy

  • @Borrachus
    @Borrachus Před 2 lety +3

    Yes, that year is 2000, which had Rio-São Paulo, that is an interstate championship with a lot of strong teams, and he scored almost at will. Romário was that great

    and there are several facts about romario I will explain some. romario loved casa nortunas. and in the clubs he passed he doesn't usually train with his team. the technicians didn't like him. but the short one " Romario " responded on the field with very many goals. player with unique talent in the history of football.

  • @rennertelesdarochalima6597

    what you said between 11:27 and 11:45 sums it up for me. I think the same way. Inside the box, R11 > R9. Obviously both were beasts in and outside the box, but inside R11 was king. Check out the two of them playing together in 1997/1998!

    Up to 2001 the Brazilian Teams was better than Europeans teams. So, Romário played in a very hard league. In this year Vasco had: Edmundo, Juninho Pernambuco, Felipe, Pedrinho, Romário, Juninho Paulista. It was insane team!

    He was from a time that Brazilian teams were WAY better than european soccer and half his goal were for Vasco da Gama ( he was "born and created" there) but then he made the same things in PSV Holland and in Barcelona. He alone won the fourth soccer World Championship for Brazil in 1994. Way way before Ronaldinho or even Messi in Barcelona...
