Fun fact 1: Macbeth was a real king of Scotland that reigned from 1040 to 1057. But the play is based on a book published in 1577, and is not historically accurate.
Fun fact 2: The Lion King is basically just a kid-friendly version of Macbeth, like how The Lion King 2 is basically just Romeo & Juliet.
Fun fact 3: There's a superstition that uttering the name 'Macbeth' inside a theatre, unless it's called for in the script, will cause disaster. Because of this, when referencing Macbeth in a theatre, people will say 'The Scottish Play'.
6:20 1889 is when that specific book form of the play was printed. Shakespeare died in 1616, and the first print version of Macbeth was published in 1623.
10:50 Basically, there's a prophecy in the play that 'nobody born of a woman can kill Macbeth'. By some prophecy loophole Macduff can kill Macbeth because he was 'untimely ripped from his mother's womb' (a.k.a. a caesarean section), so he technically was not born of a woman, or something like that.
15:20 Not anymore. Unfortunately, Steve Harwell, the lead singer of Smash Mouth, passed away last year.
17:55 Well, waffles have wheat in them, and there is such a thing as a wheat allergy.
Though lion king was Hamlet not Macbeth
"i never heard of macbeth" ok that i REFUSE to believe
Has he actually heard of anything before?
The only thing I knew of that was Shakespeare was Romeo and Juliet
@KeybladeMasterAndy I wonder if he even knows the Alamo
@@smugsneasel the thing in Texas that we’re supposed to remember? I know of it and that I should remember it, but that’s it
@@theduckgoesmoobasically it was during the Texas war for independence from Mexico and everyone got killed
Ah yes, the director's cut of Shrek that ends with polygamy
Fun fact about Macbeth is that it is supposedly to be cursed and that you can't say 'macbeth' outside of acting or on set, because if you get bad luck and causes bad things towards you unless you spin three times and spit over your left shoulder, you get 'cleansed'. So everybody just called it the Scottish play.
Also the plot is that Macbeth gets a prophecy by three witches slowly goes insane and paranoid after becoming king.
did you live in a bunker as a child or something? how can you possibly not know this!?
Current theory is that he is a government experiment.
Very bad schools lol
I didn’t know it until last year when I was a High School Senior
@@langdonledwig3734same
I did a weird play on it
The whole shrek thing took over 3 hours
i think you should watch the dougdoug court video. might be on one of his otehr channels like dougdougdoug or dougdougdougdoug
17:16 That line nearly made me explode at work. I had to hide my face behind documents to not have anyone see me lose it.
Thats crazy to me, just because my school required everyone to read Macbeth
30:35 bro it's legit may 11th.
A small question, how do you choose your next reactions? Completely random, but I kind of hope you will react to nostalgia critic's spiderman trilogy, is it a poll or a queue or something?
Based off comments and the likes they get
@@theduckgoesmoo I see, was there any for the spiderman trilogy so far?
I've only seen the first 30 minutes of Shrek 1 and the Santa eats the Gingerbread Man scene from the christmas special. This is accurate right?
We’re never getting Camp Camp Season 5 😭😭
You’re fine not knowing Macbeth Duck. I didn’t learn it in school either. In my school we focused on Romeo & Juliet and Julius Caesar. I have Jimmy Neutron to thank for my little knowledge of Macbeth.
Duck have you heard the saying bubble bubble toil and trouble it from Macbeth
I have not heard that before
Never heard of it either
Day 5 of asking you to watch the first 6 chapters of epithet erased: prison of plastic
Hey, i dont know if youll see this, but if youre ever interested in trying a new series that is a bit more educational, Overly Sarcastic Productions makes a lot of funny and entertaining videos on literature, mythology and history, including a lot of shakespears plays
That title can’t be accurate…………..
right?
Okay stop everything. I was just on your smg4 video, saw the notification and the title and stopped watching so i could say this as quickly as possible.
YOU DONT KNOW ABOUT MACBETH?! HOW?! HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW ABOUT MACBETH?!
Next thing you know, you'll think that romeo and juliet was a movie first and not a book or something! How do you exist as you do, Duck?!
Are you *sure* you didn't learn Macbeth in school? Or did you just not pay attention? I'm pretty sure *everyone* learns Macbeth.
My schools were awful
we didn’t read or learn about any shakespeare in my school 🤷🏻♀️
