Little Foot's Story

- Little Foot is a Thoroughbred gelding that came to Horse Plus through the January Buy Out Program. Upon intake, he seemed to be in good health other than being underweight, so he was released into a quarantine pasture. After a couple of weeks, however, our veterinarians noticed he was not gaining any weight. They took radiographs of his mouth and it revealed evidence of an old mandibular fracture. Thankfully, it was not something to worry about and he received medication for the ulcers in his mouth. Later, the vets discovered more oral ulcers while trying to do a dental examination, and determined that this was the cause of his inability to gain weight. After treating his mouth, Little Foot received antibiotics and soon began improving. It wasn't long before he was finally approved for adoption.
Little Foot's Story was only possible due to the support of our generous donors. The role you play is pivotal in rescuing, sheltering, and protecting horses. When things don't add up, this remarkable team always finds out why. I rescued a neglected thoroughbred who was close to dangerous because she has so many undiagnosed problems due to racing. It took lots of exploring and patience to get the the bottom of what caused her problems, but we got there and she is now healthy, beautiful and the best behaved horse in her herd of retirees. Thank you Horse Plus for always going the extra mile for the animals!
Great result for these two horses. Thanks so much for helping them ❤
Little foot amazing name amazing horse what a gentle eye he has just beautiful
Being able to do the xrays and bloodwork are so awesome. And of course, Dr Gina's careful exam worked magic for Little Foot! ❤
I ❤ Horse Plus Vet Team !!
Congratulation Little Foot ... you are definitely in the right place! So glad you got rescued by the right people! And so glad you got the medical care needed - good on Dr Gina for finding the problem!
5:23 This is a great example why the team of two vets is beneficial.
This just shows that his previous owner didn't bother to find out why Little Foot was losing weight.. Instead, they just shipped him off to auction, and thankfully, Horse Plus got this sweet boy and got to the bottom of his problems..and now he has a lovely home with his buddy Drifter..amazing..🇬🇧💕🙏✝️👏👍🐎🐎🇺🇸
A little teary eyed here from the joy of seeing two boys go home together and they will have a happily ever after.. hooray 🙌🎉❤🐎🐎
I love this!!!
Thank you HPHS!!
❤Such a sweet story. Love the wonderful vets.
Arrow grass is no joke. This ol boy could have died had you not removed those things. Great save!
I would like very much to see follow-up stories of how the rescues are doing after a few months with their forever families so we can see how much happier and healthier they are and the roles they take on at their new homes. Please and thank you for all you do for these beautiful beings.
I say that all the time! ❤❤

Do you have enough staff to do some Updates and Photos of adopted out horses?!?
I think that it is a Critical part of “Completing the Circle”.

❤❤❤❤❤bless you
Amazing , good luck to drifter and little foot ❤
Poor Little Foot! I used to get awful mouth sores. It turns out I am allergic to sodium lauryl sulfate, an ingredient in most toothpastes. I switched to Biotene, and no more sores!
Thank you so very much for Rescue and caring for these beautiful 🏇 🏇 🏇 🏇 😊❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤
I’d love to see an update on these guys, do you think littlefoots owners would mind sending update pics as he heals? It would be so good to see how these boys transform. ❤
Well done Dr Gina and Dr Lydia on finding those ulcers, poor boy must have been in agony. You guys are absolutely wonderful. 🙌🏼🫶🏻
It’s nice to hear a good outcome.
I haven’t watched for a while.
I was actually having bad dreams about the horses. I kept seeing all the horribly sick and injured horses in my sleep.
I pray for rescuers. 🙏
It takes a lot of compassion and a very thick skin to keep doing this year after year and keep it together emotionally and mentally.
Thank you HPHS for doing what you do to help save horses. ❤🤗
I love that you help the horses enough to give them a second chance at a good, forever home. Cheers to you all at HPHS!
Made my cry happy tears!
Great video guys
Given what you deal with trying to rehab some of the horses, it's nice to get an easy win once in a while.
❤❤❤
No wonder the poor horse was so thin.
I like want you guys do for the horse Nanette 🐎
Thanks for telling his story
I didn't see a trailer in that clip. Were they coming back or did they arrange for you or another party to deliver those 2 🐎🐎🐎??
Can you please show the whole removal process?
I wonder if foxtail caused his ulcers?
❤❤❤ Is there any way you can start adding "after" photos? Maybe months or so after?
Why do horses get ulcers? My mare suffered with ulcers
Could we ever see any pictures of horses after placed in homes
Should😢 he be ridden in that condition?????
I'm pretty sure that Horse Plus beloved vets Dr Lydia and Dr Gina will have made sure that he was ok for light riding
It was for a couple minutes for his adoption. It's not as if he's being worked or trail ridden. It's fine.
Foxtails?
Foxtails are a type of grass with seeds that can embed themselves in the flesh of an animal and cause infection as they did here.
So weird thing is that my dog actually has ulcers in his mouth as well mainly above his teeth or below I guess long story short he’s had to get half his teeth removed and we’re still trying to figure out what is this an internal medicine specialist and dental veterinary group are involvedbecause he also has chronic nose bleeds, which I don’t think the nose blades are the mouth issue issues but still pretty major
How do I send a donation in the mail?
What is the address?
6:28 youre actually riding that POOR bag of bones, what horses put up with!🤬
Light riding helps a horse put on muscle where there wasn't any. A trip or 2 around a small round pen isn't going to harm him.
@@alycewich4472 His spine is protruding so much that it probably hurts to bear weight. I think they should have let him gain a little more weight before riding.
Not a very good initial exam!
Honestly, I was a little shocked to see you ride the horse while in this emaciated condition, that doesn't seem right to me🥲
❤❤
