Every now and then I’ll revisit these moments on YT. The emotions from 2010 and 2011 are just indescribable and I’ll never forget them. Both the highs and the lows. It was so incredible. At the time, the Yankees were still baseball’s villain and the Rangers biggest rival, having been snuffed in 96 and 98 and 99 by the dominating Yankees. It was such a special moment. I’ll always love the ‘10 and ‘11 squads forever and Michael Young will always be my favorite Ranger.
Fuck that! It's been too long we need a word series pennant. Until then they will disappoint me. You should have saw the face on my dad in 2011 game 6. One strike away. Never will I trust this team until they win it all. They got some redeeming to do.
@@davettabowers6359 LOL, pretty sure your dad was not the only Ranger's fan who was insanely disappointed after game 6 in 2011. I threw the remote across the living room and busted it in two.
Ernie Johnson (announcer) did an amazing job announcing the Rangers winning the pennant. He kept it short and sweet and let the moment speak for itself.
In retrospect, I think that TBS broadcasting these games reminded me so much of how it was when NBC used to televise baseball. In fact, I imagined several key moments of this particular game (Game 6, 2010 ALCS) being called by none other than Bob Costas instead of Earnie Johnson. "[Vladimir] Guerrero gets a charge of this one and hits it to center! Back goes Granderson, reaches--CAN'T GET IT! That ball's off the wall! A run is in, and make it two! 3-1, Texas...and it's borderline surreal inside Rangers Ballpark!" -Vlad Guerrero's key two-run double to break a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning "And [Nelson] Cruz gets a bigger charge out of this one -- into left-center! Granderson gives it a ride, gives it a look, IT'S GONE! (pause) 5-1 Texas -- and it's bedlam in Arlington Nearly 40 years in the making!" -Nelson Cruz hitting the game-sealing two-run homer after Vlad's double "Grounder to the right side, [Neftali] Feliz makes the play on a nice flip from [Mitch] Moreland. One out away -- and perhaps, what could be a measure of poetic justice, it's only fitting that Alex Rodriguez comes to the plate as the Yankees' last hope. The biggest demon in the Rangers' franchise history, who signed a ten-year deal worth a quarter-billion dollars and played in Arlington from 2001-2003 -- stands ready with two outs in the 9th. Those three years for the Rangers...were all last place finishes...but this place is shaking now." -The second out of the top of the 9th inning and A-Rod's last plate appearance. "HELLO WORLD SERIES!!! (pause for celebration) Strangers no more -- Texas is headed to the Fall Classic for the first time in franchise history!" -The final out.
I saw this live,I was wishing my parents goodnight and I saw they had baseball on TV which they never have . let's just say nearly 13 years later I am still a fan
Even nearly 10 years later, I still get goosebumps. I was only 11 at the time but it was so cool to see this happen. I even remember making a texas rangers Jack-o-lantern
This was such a cool way to get into the World Series. We weren’t really prepared for 2010. 2011 was our shot but we blew it. I know we’ll win one soon. Hopefully with Andrus still on the team too.
Have been to a decent amount of NBA, MLB, NFL, and NHL games in my life, far less then most of my friends. But whenever I feel like I’ve missed out on going to a bunch of big games, I remember sitting in the left field 3rd deck seats as a 7th grader cheering my ass off and being on cloud 9 looking all over Arlington. A-Rod looking is the chefs kiss.
The thing you have to remember this is all the sweeter for the Rangers considering they had lost three ALDS to the Yankees and had been swept in two of those three times. 1996: 3-1 1998: 3-0 1999: 3-0 That series was all the sweeter for the Rangers and their fans considering that the Yankees had been their tormentor in the 90s in the postseason coming into that series.
Well, 2 trips to The Series, 4 AL West titles, a play-in game against Tampa and Baltimore (we lost both). That's not a bad 7-8 year run. We should have a World Series title and atleast one more trip to the ALCS from 2015. We blew that Game 5 in Toronto when Elvis just lost it. Yeah, the system is wrecked and we're mired in the cellar, but we've had some great nights as Rangers fans and I've been around since 1973. I think old JD did good.
It seemed like destiny. Taking down the Yankees who up to this point had always swept the Rangers out of the playoffs. A-Rod being the player who was supposed to be the cornerstone of the franchise defecting to the Yankees and burning every bridge on his way over there. He is the final out to advance the Rangers to their first WS. Too bad they lost.
2023 is our year! The Hottest Bats in the American League! Our Bullpen is shaping up! So long as we stay Healthy we will be just as Dominate in the second half of the All-star Break as we were in the first!!!!
Well, they weren’t quite as dominant in the back half, but then the playoffs rolled around and they became dominant again. Typical Rangers drama, but hey, it’s working. 3 wins away!!!
Nah but they might sneak into the wild card spot. Even though the Astros did cheat most of the core stayed together so I can see the Astros clinch the AL West again. But the Rangers can be something this year.
Sherman Ng welp... maybe 2021 lol. But I can definitely see the rangers back in the playoff in the next 3 years. Let’s see what Gallo can do and can we please develop a damn pitcher. Honestly if Gallo keeps hitting his .200 with his 40 homeruns I’d want to trade him he just seems to be an Adam Dunn type guy.
Jax Gates ya but to really contend you need the bullpen as well and the Rangers just don’t have it yet. And we don’t know if Kluber will return to form. We’ve seen our bullpen get beat up the last couple of years down the stretch causing us to loose games. We’re really really close man I can feel the excitement again but man that bullpen is still a question mark same with the backend of the rotation
Sadly this is not the greatest moment in Texas Rangers history It’s either Nolan Ryan making Robin Ventura his bitch or Rougned Odor punching Jose Bautista
Yankee's Manager Joe Girardi started Phil Hughes in game 2 and Hughes got shelled. Girardi should have started Andy Petite who threw the best game of his career in game #3 but lost to the Texas pitcher, Cliff Lee, who pitched the game of his life that game #3....Girardi's blunder cost The YANKEES the series, and he should have been fired because of it.
Here now that we're shaping out to be the worst team in the league. That era was the exception not the rule. They're the ugly duckling of DFW sports. Make it end.
I guess A-Rod made good on his promise that he would get the Rangers to the WS. Being the last strike out.
Sarcasm.
He betrayed us and that’s why I never liked him after that
@@jaxgates7520 he got traded.
It was only right
Game 5 of the 2023 WS was the best-ever Rangers game. However, I watched that on TV. THIS game I attended and I will never forget it!
