To add to this: as both developing countries that have been independent for a short time, China was more respectful of India at the time.As the video says, India decided to take a step forward and China decided it could only strike back. China took the quick-fire approach, hitting the plains from the Himalayas in less than a month, and New Delhi was already panicking at the time. But China was poor, logistics and supplies were an issue, having suffered losses on the Korean battlefield, and also China was worried about the US intervention causing a bigger conflict, and withdrew its troops quickly before the US army could arrive. You can check the history, when the Chinese withdrew, they didn't take the spoils of war, and even repaired and refueled the cars abandoned by India, because the Chinese leaders at that time still wanted to solve the problem peacefully.

According to the memories of some veterans, they were stationed near the railway line of Tespur. After a while, the Chinese army received a message from Beijing. The order required them all to retreat and reach the stop line. During this period, the Chinese army did not suffer any pursuit.

The video downplays Indian Forward Policy; the constant push forward and taking over of the disputed territory, while the Chinese were retreating trying to avoid conflict. Also, constant Chinese diplomatic attempts and warnings in order to avoid the war were ignored. Since the Indians refused to stop their encroachment the Chinese decided that enough is enough, and launched a full scale assault, overruning the Indians. Ever since then, the wound-licking Indians blame the Chinese and make it like it was Chinese fault, even though the fault was entirely with India. The border issue still exists today because India is senseless and Indians have some kind of blind nationalism that prevents any kind of introspection and reason. Out of 14 countries China has land border with, it resolved border issues with all these countries except with India (and its protectorate of Bhutan, because India refused to allow Bhutan to make the agreement with China). India on the other hand has border issue with almost all neighbours and isn't interested in negotiations but wants 100% of all the claims, and these claims have nothing to do with historical India - but instead modern Indians want to be successors of colonial Indians and demand colonial borders, which is ridiculous and of course China won't accept that, nor should it. Most Indians today are brainwashed by fake news US and UK media (as well as their own), which makes sense because if you want to be a (neo)colony its only fitting to have thoughts formed by the master(s).

My state of Arunachal Pradesh was one of the main battlefields of this war, Indian army was beaten because many troops that came here were from the plains unused to mountain terrain and low oxygen at heights, bad logistics meant they were ill equipped for harsh temperatures and low on food/ammo. The chinese ususally bypassed strong positions and cut off the supply lines regulary out maneuvering Indian positions. Our soldiers fought valiantly with many stories of indivdual last stands against overwhelming odds but ultimately were beaten . Our leadership(both civilian and military) severly underestimated the chinese who had much experience fighting in mountains with veteran troops from Korean conflict.

The creation of India's borders was complex and led to major issues that persist to this day. Sir Henry McMahon, on the British side, drew the McMahon Line, which is supposed to separate India from China. However, this line is not recognized by China, yet India uses it to claim territories that are under dispute. Moreover, when India and Pakistan were divided in 1947, the borders were hastily drawn by Sir Cyril Radcliffe, which led to further conflicts, especially over the region of Kashmir. The actions of these individuals during the British colonial period have repercussions even today. It's crucial to remember our history and seek peaceful and fair solutions to these territorial disputes.

I will go further. If you call your resolution to the border issue a "Forward Policy", you are the aggressor, full stop.
The reason why there is a border issue is due to the attempted expansion of the British Raj into Tibet and Xinjiang. Of course, many are under the impression that it was somehow the Chinese engaging in expansion at the area when the reverse is true.
Another reason is that the Indian Republic for some reason wanted to inherit that colonial policy. India is obviously the aggressor here because it called its border policy the "Forward Policy"! Just push the borders further forward, be half hearted in resolving things peacefully and expect the Chinese not to react.
As seen from the clashes at 2020, India has learnt nothing and wants to continue from Nehru's mistakes.

I think this video favoured Indian viewers more coz it doesn't cover CCP's warning to "withdraw troops or bear all consequences", which was the most serious diplomatic statement already. The most important incident- Zhou Enlai's visit to India in 1960, which is now considered the turning point and eventually resulted in war 1962, is not mentioned. What Zhou said in India is thoroughly recorded and interpreted in English can be found online. Another person worth mentioning is India's Defence Minister V.K. Krishna Menon at that time. Menon's meetings with China's foreign minister Chen Yi and Zhou Enlai failed to reach its purpose to reach peace and ease tension. Ironically, he was the person worsen the situation and led India unprepared for war as India's Defence Minister. Before the attack, China was trying all its means to address the serious consequences and Zhou's visit was last hope to use diplomatic means to solve the tension. China was very surprised that India wasn't very well prepared for military conflicts during the attack. I hope both sides learn history as lesson and try their best to avoid wars to come.

    • @adrianbelko7683
      @adrianbelko7683 Před 10 měsíci +25

Krishna Menon was the reason India was forbade to prepare, Nehru and Krishna Menon both considered Xàina to be an ally as a fellow Soviet Sympathisers in the east, both of them though weren't cómmunísts exactly but they did despise càpitàlism and nations that accepted capitalis ideas,
with no history of any conflict between both the ancient civilizations who had been welcoming traders from either sides since ancient times Nehru never actually saw a wàr coming, furthermore Mao Zedong's primary intention for waging a wàr(which btw it wasn't, it was just a blitzkrieg on Aksai chín with ridiculously large force of 80K soldiers against a scattered 20K across the border) was to tarnish Nehru and consequently India's image on global scale as a major geopolitical player which they were quite successful at after the wàr
And warning to face consequences doesn't justify the attack on another democracy, especially when it's just not us alleging Xaìnese to have expansionist imperialist motive, nobody wants a wàr but actually executing such feel good ideas like showering flowers and exchanging sweets with those who consistently encroach on yóur land is pretty hard to do when yóu don't live there

Both sides made diplomatic threats and statements. The border differences were made during British occupation, while China had been having regimes change. Thus, no written documents and formal agreement were made. I don't think it is acceptable to invite some (Tibet, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Taiwan etc) representatives to form an agreement and inform another domestic regime/government that the border has been re-arranged. If one has determined to do so, plz at least consider the livelihood of your citizens/soldiers and deter its enemies from attacking.

This war was not a war of conquest. It was designed to teach India a lesson. When China destroyed the main force of India in the border area and the subsequent reinforcement, China declared the end of actions and retreated. China did the same thing in the border war with Vietnam. The West media often demonize China and bad-mouth the Chinese military. The biggest mistake India made was that they believed the West propaganda about China. China only stationed one field army in the entire Tibet. Only the border defense troops were involved in the fight. The lesson is: Underestimating China can be both deadly and humiliating.

Nothing happened to any one of them due to the distribution of force. But I was amazed to know.
