that soloist killed it! this whole group gave a fantastic performance
Can I say that I am absolutely in love with the soloist of this piece? All of the young men in this performance did exceptionally well, and I LOVE the choreography, but I feel like the soloist really captured the feel of this piece. Such an amazing performance! ♥
............uhhh sure, lol.
As a south African, I'd like to say these guys Nailed it :)
They sing with passion 😍
when ever my buddy and i used to get drunk before he went into the military, we would sing this at the top of our lungs in "perfect" harmony. i miss that.
Seventy years ago I sang with what was then the All City Chorus in New York City. Peter Wilhouski was the director. I sang with the chorus for four years and it was an experience I will never forget. I am so delighted to see that the tradition continues.
This is music in its purest form. It made me cry buckets. Thank you for creating this piece of art 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Brought me to tears
YPC NY kills it! Thanks.
much talent and confidence here.
the solo killed it! damn he has some powerful lungs. this is amazing!
I'm alto, suprano, and base & were doing this for choirs here at bwms.
This is an incredible performance that does a great job of depicting modern day unity, demonstrating black south African miner’s strife. Truly beautiful and something i won’t be able to understand but is put in to words and dance so that i can feel it
Dank je wel,had ik net nodig fijn.
Wonderful, thank you and more please!!!
I just saw The Young Men Chorus perform this on Monday night March 7th, 2011 at Lincoln Center . I had tears in my eyes and so much joy in my heart watching these talented Young men create their magic!! Every YPC Chorus who performed that night with the NY POPS were incredible.. Keep up the great work, you are all shinning stars!!!

The soloists always sound amazing in this song😍😍 I like it better with just a choir of guys cause when u add the girls they make it sound more of a young middle schooler tone

This gives me chills it is so amazing

awesome
The correct spelling for "Tshotsholaza" is Shosholoza. Moving Fast, Moving Strong. The word Shosholoza is a combination of both Ndebele (of Zimbabwe) and Zulu (of South Africa) words meaning “to push forward, endeavor, or strive.” The sound of the word itself is symbolic of the steam engine trains that carried miners through the mountains
Amazing
how beautiful and good work big brother. he is the lead singer and he goes to my school he did a good job and he sound beautiful
yes it's written into the music :D I think it sound cool

VERY COOL!
echt super !
Im in intermetzo im going to cantare yey . i love how they sing .
When will people learn clapping completely ruins a performance? At least a performance like this.
Normally Japanese audience is very disciplined and know to enjoy music without clapping (especially in classic music), but I guess, they were simply too moved not...
It always goes the same. When ever my choral ensemble preforms a song like this (which we will be doing this fall) the crowd starts clapping in the beginning then just stops just before the begging of the middle and it can ruin the vibe of a song.
well in a traditional african song like this it’s very appropriate because in africa a lot of the time if people hear someone singing they will grab a drum or another instrument and just start playing and singing with the vocalist.. obviously the audience don’t gonna have drums with them, so clapping is the next best thing
I think it emboldens this performance. This is meant to be percussive, and adding to the performance just makes the whole thing seem larger.
I agree with you but it's almost contagious and it really takes only one person to start the whole thing. Ik as a musician some one making a beat or clapping while u play can easily throw you off but if there able to stay concentrated (which I would say they did) it actually sounds pretty cool ngl
I have to sing that on a stage in April
Same, is yours a full choir piece? The one I'm performing is just the boys of our high school choir
Well 8th and 9th grade choir
I don't know yet but thanks!
Oh my god I did this last last year
I liked the adaptation of the song! I learned the SATB version. At first i said wait what? Then I saw it and i was like oh cool!
moii prachtig muziek
And worse - why did you stop? I can for hours on this one.....
Ok I've seen you like 2 times, can you sing it better? I doubt it.
cool man... i wish there was a singing group, in my neighbourhood but my singing quality is not so good
Amazing! Who arranged it? is it possible to find the score of it? (thanks a lot for your answer). Greetings from France!

trezyslfe ur right
Francisco Nuñez arranged this
@@juliajihae That's correct Francisco J Nuñez, founder and director of the young peoples chorus of New York City. He does marvels with his students.
Are chorus is singing this song
my Chorus teacher showed us this...
This group rules I lerned this song in school for my music cansurt leave a like if I do to
Esaias Figueroa leave another like if your tenor soloist wasn't half as good as theirs
I did leave,a like
Lol I, a bass II, did this and split it with a tenor I. Came out pretty fun
Good, nobody dislikes this. Lets keep it that way! =]
i have to learn and teach this to 145 other people by january......fml 0.o
GO MADISON!!!!!
Im a tenor 2
Im doing this solo 😭 i can barely reach the top notes while belting and it sounds shit
did he mean to go from Ab to A?
Nac
Fantastic interpretation of Shosholoza. Too bad, video cut off before they finished the entire song.
Ngifisa wena bantu bonke okuhle, futhi ufuna ukuzwa okuningi kusuka kuwe!
And yes - I am one those hated whites in the country....
Pov : You're here because youre studying
I loved the performance, but the video quality is horrible.
The certainly are good. As a South African, I would say learn to pronounce the words correctly. If you want something challenging sing "Impi" by Johnny Clegg.
really?
No sopranos that's sad
Because it's literally a song sung by men. Men of African heritage especially typically have deeper registers.
voice is good but missed capturing the spirit of the song
+dendraver Which is?
dendraver actually I think it worked. It also showed them using pickaxes which is kind of where the song came from which was what workers would sing
Literally no.
It is spelt 'Shosholoza' by the way. Pronunciation is alright though.
Liam Smit Tshotzahlotsa or something
it's "Tshotsholoza" in choir music, and "Shosholoza" as a common word/title of song
Tshotshaloza in every arrangement I've seen of it.
This sucked learn more about the South Africa meaning of (shosholoza) !
WTF?
