I'm so glad that many of you found this video helpful! If you enjoy watching clutch footage, I have a playlist dedicated to those here: czcams.com/play/PLP3rZgBV7OKMrEOU-0CR1VQPnMnFDF7kb.html&si=g7FJHW5OQp5LATzj Of course, there are usually clutches in the runs or highlights I upload as well. Thanks again for your support!
Very informative video, a lot of these clutch videos on CZcams lack explanations in the gamesense and decision-making process in the midst of a tense fight, so it’s certainly appreciated to see this 😊
Definitely like this style of video, always really useful to get actual insight on how a skilled player thinks and makes decisions, especially in a game like Darktide where every decision can potentially make or break a game. I think the highlight videos are always going to do pretty well, it's more casual watching, but this kind of thing is a welcome treat and will hopefully be seen by most of the teammates I get haha. I would imagine showcasing specific builds in a run would get a lot of views too, people love to see what they should be using. Keep it up man
Yes do more of these! I like the focus on tactics and individual techniques. You could do weapon specific videos talking about what they excel at and what is better off leaving to your teammates
very well done, practical advice and delivered in the most sensible way, commentating a game. amazing that you did this for first video whereas some veteran creators overcomplicate this
Best video I've seen on clutch gaming. My key takeaways: 1) Leverage yellow barrels more often, 2) Ignore bosses if you are clutching until all threats eliminated, 3) Look for circular areas of each map that can be used for kiting.
Thanks and happy that you liked it! Some minor corrections to the points you've listed out: - It's not so much ignoring the boss but just damaging them whenever you can without prioritizing them over other threats that will get you killed - The area doesn't always have to be circular for kiting, it's more about knowing which areas give you the space to do so (which requires map knowledge that will come with more experience) Edit: typo
This was a great video, I got 1000 hours in and could say that there's hardly anything missing besides how to deal with gunner spam. But that could honestly be a video all on its own.
i thought this video was gonna be click bait. just several clips of clutches but it was MUCH more. thank you for your insight. a lot of what you said came natural to me (from my 700hrs so far) but 1 thing i never thought of was the priority ranking for monstrosities. i always put them up with disablers and specialists. taking my full attention. and yeah deciding to drop down into that elevator room is a very precarious decision.
I also play vet, but I am like a child compared to you. That was insane. I've definitely learned a lot, I just need to lay down because my head exploded.
I got almost 300 hours on this game, 80% of that time is on zealot and majority of what you just explained in this video is my thought process, good stuff
Honestly, a lot of this can be summed up in just saying , don't be afraid to move backwards. I see so many pugs just stand in one room, they refuse to kite backwards, it gets crowded, and they die. Literally 4/5 times , if I go down , I know the match is already lost, because of stuff like this.
Fighting in strategically advantageous positions makes the game very easy especially if you have a full team. However, it's pretty hard to coordinate that with strangers.
I'm 1100 hours in on one character, with one type of build. I found the zealot dagger crit build at launch and never looked back. I dare say I'm a pretty good zealot at this point.
good breakdown/analysis! quick suggestion, one or 2 words of white text for a few seconds on screen would help reinforce each point you're making. also, i want to emphasize the importance of your point, pacing (progressing and looting quickly when you can), even with your team up as that cuts down on the amount of encounters in a match. another thing regarding clutches, being near rescuable teammates will still count for coherency toughness regen and passives
Oh my days, a player who actually backpedals strategically. Rn my games are full of people who only rush forward and spawn tons of enemies and just run away. Or Vets that only melee and dont kill ranged enemies. Your narration was top, and also easy to understand how and why you do things. I learned a few new things, especially the "kill the boss(monstrosity) last" was rather eye opening. A few questions: Can you block all the boss attacks, and can you slide under sniper shots? It never seems to work for me. Could you make a video on how you kill the different bosses? That would be really helpful. I struggle with the Demonhosts, It seems to be only "hit it until it dies".
Thanks, glad you think it was helpful! You can't block the Chaos Spawn's grab as it'll ignore it. Everything else can be blocked. Plague Ogryn's overhead fist slam & stomp can hurt you if it breaks your block (if you lose all stamina). Try to dodge instead of blocking in general. BoN's non vomit attacks can all break your guard, so prioritize dodging. DH.. Don't bother fighting them and just go the other way lol. I can try to find the time to make some boss fighting guides, but I do want to use whatever time I have to try to make build guides so no promises! Edit: Forgot to answer the question about sliding under sniper shots. Yes it works. If it's not working, then it's probably the server acting up. Server issues can make snipers go haywire and shoot you with no warnings or even hit you mid-dodge.
Question. Would it be possible to make a video showing off, like survival tech? Not really sure if that’s what you would call it but I video showing off the movement and stuff you do to seemingly take 0 damage fighting all these hoardes. Stuff like out pacing the hoardes, moving through the middle of it without dying, etc etc. Kinda new to the game and can’t really find anyone that explains it other than “dodge, block, push, figure it out.”
Not quite what you're describing, but I've made a movement tech guide for Psykers. czcams.com/video/R_gT9i-YZuw/video.html Other than these advanced mechanics, avoiding damage really just comes down to practice. My best advice is to go into the training room with mods, turn off invisibility and 1v1 each enemy to at least understand their moveset. If you're on console and don't have mods, you'll just need to gather experience the hard away. Either way, good luck and I'm sure you can do it!
What about chaos spawns? Unless there is very few mobs around or I’m playing a highly mobile build, chaos spawns catch up to you and can be tough to dodge with other monsters crowding around.
Chaos Spawns can actually make things easier sometimes because they catch up to you faster than every other enemy. Try not to get grabbed (by dodging to your right) and you should be good. Have a whole clutching playlist here, there's bound to be some Chaos Spawn fights you can reference: czcams.com/video/Ojp5zVygxlA/video.html
What u should clarify is that u are playing with knife and therefore you are super fast. So kiting is way easier. but all around good tips. falling back and circle enemies are really advanced tactics that need alot of time to learn properply
Damn, i didn't know that concentration stim gives your combat ability a 300% regeneration boost, shit i actually thought it had something to do with getting more critical hits.
It would be cool if you did a series on tios yo ckutch with various popular builds / weapons. I know knife is super popular for solo due to mobility, is it the only viable one for solo / clutch play?
What makes a good build for clutching is more than just the melee weapon and is a bit more complicated than that.. Enough for another video just to discuss it, which is why I didn't delve into that topic in this video. Planning to make that video next although I can't promise how soon it will come out. For now, if you just want to know what are good builds for clutching, the builds from my other videos are typically a good place to start. Thanks for always watching my content, by the way!
Hi Dray, at the start of the video you show some footage where your dodge counter are bars like the stamina bars instead of showing 5/5 what mod is that?
Show Remaining Dodges www.nexusmods.com/warhammer40kdarktide/mods/280 I prefer the 5/5 because it shows you how much you're in the negative, but that part of the UI isn't working for me anymore for some reason so I settled with this.
After 600 hours of Darktide, I moved onto Helldivers 2, since that game has devs that give a shit about it and have done more in the last two weeks than Fatshark has done since October when the last new mission was added. Oh yeah, and we're now coming up on a full year since the last _unique_ weapon, that is the Power Mauls being added. No, a variant of an existing weapon or a new mark variant is not a new weapon, it is a new version of an existing one to bloat the number of weapons. Know what else is nice about Helldivers? It doesn't spawn a horde right behind you or put a poxburster in a door that instantly explodes right next to you.
@@xstreamdray heard there’s an update, will be back. Am just crazzzzy busy these past few months, that’s why my content has slowed down a lot and am basically doing just shorts rn. Thanks tho!
Sure we can play. Just made a new Discord, it's in the channel description! You should definitely play Auric Maelstrom if you haven't yet, although I'm not sure if you'll get to experience it fully at the moment cause I heard the latest patch created some problems..

finally a clutch player that actually explains his decisions so others can learn! appreciate it!

Just the ordinary guy who enters into the team after one leaves and casually clutches and saves all of us chilling. EMPEROR SENT HIM TO PROTECT!!!

The greed is one bastard in those situations. "Just one more hit, come on" becomes trouble real fast.
