    The CE-2W is great because its alt modes expand the flavors a lot, especially the vibrato setting! The MXR is powerful because the EQs open up the sonic range ten fold. You cant go wrong with either. If you're watching after buying one, dont worry, you cant go wrong with one over the other ;)

    I’ve owned both over the years. Of the two I’m confident for my personal sound MXR is my go to. The Boss is good too, but not quite as sweet as the MXR234. You also get a bit more control over the sound with the MXR and I’ve noticed it takes less knob turning, than the BOSS as well. For me hands down MXR.

    So many contrasting opinions, here is mine, the MXR is a very detailed pedal that takes time and effort to dial in but amazing tones, Boss is respectable but I prefer the older Boss CE3 MIJ tone I got over this waza. As a semi-pro my vote goes to MXR on this demo.

  • @rodrigoguimaraesdasilva8543

    The MXR level is a great weapon. The Boss Vibrato setting have more speed rate than MXR. But both pedal sounds great. I have a CE-2w and I love the CE-1 mode. Sounds complex and nostalgic.

I like the Low EQ in the middle or slightly lower, to keep the low frequencies from getting muddy when using distortion/overdrive. Set the High EQ higher for more dramatic effect.

    Interesting comparison. I would say the Boss is more effect-y. It adds a different character. While the MXR is more natural to the original instrument. The MXR with all its knobs is able to better refine that natural ability. However, the Boss can offer a more extreme fast wobbly effect that sounds rad. I'd go with the MXR. :)

      Hey mate, yeah, these No Talking videos are just leftovers etc. I shot a new Big Chorus Shootout a couple of days ago (should be online in a couple of days), but then I thought "Hey it would be cool to just show these 2", and so I did a quick one.
      I too reeeaally like the MXR. It can do both the Standard and the CE-1 setting of the Boss and sounds even better than the Boss (the MXR seems to have a really "strong" signal...hard to explain´, but the guitar sound seems enhanced because of it, while on the Boss it's clearly an effect over your guitar sound---does that make sense?), the only thing is the Boss has a third setting, the CE-1 Vibrato mode that sounds killer. So now I am facing the problem which one to keep. First world problems haha

      I just upgraded to the MXR from a TC for my rhythm guitar board. I'm a bit of a modulation fanatic as "always on", switching between the mxr AnaCho and a flanger and/or using the EQD Organizer as an octave pad for faux 12 string sounds. I play a cigarbox, so anything to broaden my sound is definitely welcome.

    For me a mix control is crucial so I'm buying the MXR tonight to see if that ticks all my boxes. I'll take a cheap chorus with a mix control over an expensive without mix control any time FWIW. I was young in the 80's so I'm not new to chorus 😆

    I love MXR pedals, but I'll never buy another one unless I have no alternative. Reason? The power supply jack right next to the guitar-input is a royal PITA. It should be on the top, where virtually every other pedal puts theirs.

  • @guitar-phantom
    @guitar-phantom Před 4 lety +1

    The BOSS CE-2 Waza is better because the chorus effect blends and gels with the strings. The problem is the CE-2 doesn't have a blend/effect knob which is important when playing with distortion.
    The "Dunlop" MXR seems to be too separate from the strings (not glued together), it has an effect knob which is useful when dialing in chorus with distortion - however the MXR has a poor buffer and sounds a little noisy or cheap with distortion.

    The Boss has a little more subdued quality (like it's further away) that sounds better when you are playing here by yourself. In a mix, I'm almost positive the MXR would cut through better. So, jamming at home, the Boss all day. Live? Probably the MXR. The Boss seems to have more degradation of the repeats. That's the whole point of an analog chorus. If you like cleaner repeats, the digital emulation of an analog can do that and more.
