A print with both colors would pull it together
Use variegated thread, stitch cover stitch but make the bottom side of stitch be on the front of the shirt. High end ready made athleisure wear use that technique.
That's what I am thinking. The Double coverstitch shows like a coverstitch on both sides. I will be sure to show next week :)
