- This week we give carburetor tips and tricks while we rebuild Fords venerable 4100 Autolite carb. What we discuss with the 4100 will mostly apply to the Autolite 2100 that saw use in pretty much everything that Ford Motor Company built between 1957 and the late 70's and early 80s. We discuss jets and where to get them as well as tools for safe jet removal and installation.

The weatherstrip adhesive is more to keep the diaphragm from collapsing into the carb.

Thanks for making this video and showing the parts laid out in an organized manner. Most CZcams videos involve poor lighting and some guy working on his bench that is cluttered.
Got it. Cheapest thing to do is the 2100; be sure to get the lit like the one that NPD sells. That 2100 will perform well on the 289 or 302. 600 cfm on a non performance 289 (or 302) is a lot of carburetor. As long as the 2100 is the original 2V with the car, you will get decent performance.
Stainless screws are an excellent idea Aaron, but we're not sure where to get the correct ones for the carb. We just like the properties of weatherstrip adhesive. plus it was on hand! =)

If you go 4V the 1.08 venturi Autolite is hard to beat used rebuilt examples are around $450. As long as you are not hung up on the carburetor being "correct" the Galaxie carb we used (also a 1.08) will offer excellent performance.

We missed the arm install on video, sorry.Yes the pin on the diaphragm does fit in the hole on the plastic arm.
We have places like Fastenal which are great if you want to buy 500 or 1,000 screws and washers. We haven't seen these particular fasteners at the big box stores like Lowe's or Home Depot; and the only other bolt store that doesn't bulk sell is 30 miles from our base of operations.

Are there differences in float adjustments and why? Reason for asking is that I am using a 4100 on a motor (351w) on a vehicle that did not use a 4100. Also, why does motors manual say fuel pressure for vehicles that use a 4100 is 7 lbs but my carb rebuilder says that I need no more than 4 to 5 lbs?
I get the impression that it's a little different in the US than Canada. Here, there are plenty of fastener stores which carry everything a person could want. I can get stainless versions of really any fastener. However I've also noticed that people in the US seem to have trouble finding hardware, so do you not have these stores?
That sucks. Within a 10 minute drive from my hours are 3 fastener stores which are happy to sell over the counter in small quantities. Unrelated, but AutoRestoMod made a small guest appearance on my latest Cosmo video.
Coulda used a short piece of safety wire to hold that white plastic lever thingie in place instead of the glue. YFB
Yeah... $450 is way outside of the budget lol. I have a Holley 600CFM that I would rebuild myself, or rebuild the Autolite 2100 I already have. Those are the options that I can afford :)

Instead of painting the screws, and why not use stainless steel? And why not gasket tack instead of weather strip adhesive?
Gasket tack is just glue spray adhesive to hold gaskets in place.
Is this a tv show? There seems to be a lot of effort put into it.

Hello, what do you mean with front and back of the carburetor? primary/secondary? if i'm right the secondary jets are larger than the primary jets.
