When you can’t play the first notes bc you don’t know how to mute the strings-

You mute them by making your index finger touch the E string and then fretting the A string, and just laying them flat over the rest of the stings.

For doing it on the D and B string you put your middle finger over the E string. Can be A too, but not D.

If you can find it, Guitar World did a great article on this track with tabs and sheet music when the song first came out. The band definitely helped them out explaining the track so it’s the best tablature and sheet music I’ve seen!

I always felt bad about watching these kinds of videos or like I was “cheating” for some reason when I was a teenager until I found your channel. I was the pick of music teacher because i guess he saw something so all the other kids had extremely high expectations of me and would even sometimes make fun of some of my equipment 😅 (that is until I started transcribing rock songs into jazz band & matching band lol) thanks so much for your videos
