I like FD signifier. I just got into him and appreciate how thoughtful he is. I also appreciate he’s willing to take a 2nd look on opinions he’s put out there. I love ppl who can do that. It’s a skill I’m working on. I also am now hopelessly addicted to the meta of watching someone react to someone else’s content. Like there’s a lot of YT essayists I want to watch but I feel some level of stress over commiting to watching a long a$$ fcking YT video. Which is dumb bc I watch 8 hr twitch live streams. But somehow watching someone else watch an essayist makes it easier for me to consume the content. Especially when it covers topics I find a: stressful b: cringe (my cringe tolerance is super low, to much empathy I guess) or c: it’s a topic I want to learn about but it’s boring and I’m so ADD I start thinking about my eyebrow shape and miss half of it. (Like it took me multiple tries to watch a vid on Keynesian economics or any of the 2nd thought videos. They’re stressful and the former so dense my mind wanders.) But I have to go to sleep bc I might have a tumor and have to get up for more testing tomorrow, so I guess I’ll be finishing this when I get back.
(I just realized This comment is a perfect encapsulation of how fcking chaotic my brain is.)

Also second comment. Drake seems like he doesn't wanna be accountable at all, at the end he blames colorish and being Canadian for why black ppl don't rock with him they way they rock with other rappers. That's a BS statement bc Eminem is white and black ppl rock with him. Sure the reply could be "Well Eminem is from the hood, he knows, understands, respects the culture." Which is true, but he's still example of black ppl supporting someone who doesn't fit a dark complexion. There is a number of light skin rappers who don't have this issue. Also Rap in Canada is big and some Canadian rappers are starting to get their flowers in the US. One I'll name is Haviah Mighty, whom has songs you should check out. She's a great artist....and Canadian.
From my perspective I think the reason some blacks don't fuck with Drake has nothing to do with color or nationality but not being able to relate to him. He doesn't rap about the hood, struggles, oppression, etc. He was a child actor in one of the most popular teen dramas in both the US and Canada. Hardcore rap fans can't relate with him.

Thing about Aubrey is we know he doesn't write his own music. Though other ppl writing songs is common in Pop and R&B nowadays, not writing your own music is hold highly against you in Hip Hop. We even see that with legends like Dre. As legendary as Dr. Dre is, ppl hold against him that he didn't write his own lyrics. So we have Aubrey here not writing his own music and giving it a more pop sound, which once more hardcore hip hop heads are gonna hold against him. Even Shady had to deal with that problem, when he released Recovery, which wasn't even a bad album but it was "soft" and not the normal Eminem, so hardcore hip hop fans disliked it.
The other thing about Aubrey is his personality turns ppl away and not even in that masculinity discussion. He just seems very corny. He doesn't give off a vibe of someone you wanna hang out with. He's cringy, and those rumors of him allegedly grooming underage girls also make ppl turn away from Drake.
He's seemingly always in his feelings. Aubrey is the kind of person who'd take a joke serious. Like you and your bros joking with each other, with small jabs at each other. Aubrey would be the friend that takes a jab at him to heart.
