Phil mentions famous people being in the audience, so he might’ve mentioned McCartney because he was in the audience. I did some research though, I’m pretty sure during the song Phil was making a jab at Paul McCartney’s Japanese tour with the wings being cancelled because of his possession charges, which had occurred four months earlier. Paul’s last visa ban had just expired, allowing him to finally return to Japan after 15 years, but Paul couldn’t “give it up” and he got charged again, resulting in another ban in January of 1980 😭.
