- Today me and my dad upgraded the look of his car by adding 15mm and 20mm spacers. The fronts were 15mm and the rear 20mm. This is the perfect amount if you are going for a flush fit and finish to your gti. You will not get any rubbing or scraping while driving. This will not affect you running a bigger tire. Saving your video for future reference,
I have veltsports 20mm spacers I have been dying to put on my mk6.5 gli, trying to get new brakes and rotors so I can do it all at once 💪🏾
Heck yeah keep us updated
thinking of some spacers on mine... i have vmr wheels but want that extra poke LOL. quick tip: tighten lugs nuts snug, but put car on ground and then torque them down. helps get correct torque w the weight of the car
Yea I re torqued them on the ground. Umm yea I’d definitely do 20mm all around then. You’ll get that front poke with 20 to 25mm spacers
Nice video. Just lowered my GTI and I have some rpf1s with 235 tires coming soon. Considering spacers if it helps with wheel rub
Definitely recommend this setup. The wheels poke just enough where it looks nice but not to much where they rub
I run 245s on mine. Just took out the fender screws and I don’t rub unless I’m at full lock, you’ll be fine
I'm curious what size wheels are those and what's the offset a lot depends on wheel offset. For instance I just got 12mm spacers for the rear because 15mm were just a hair too much and they would rub a touch at times My wheels are 18x8.5 et45 with 245/40/18 that's on my VW Alltrack which is lowered with Golf R springs and shocks. The tires look monstrous from behind.
Your set up before spacers is really tucked in a lot. A little advise for the future buy a wheel hanger they're cheap and make the job of R&R your wheels much easier especially when using spacers
EDIT: Oh yeah those are narrow wheels with an offset (ET49mm) if you go with a wider wheel and lower et those spacers will be too much. If you ever change wheels many wheels to choose from look for lighter weigh wheels and smaller spacer you can save a lot of unsprung weight which is a good thing, VW's stock wheels hover around 25lbs and up and a lot of aftermarket wheels are now around 18-19lbs plus they're wider. I'll say after you put spacers on it looks so much better 👍👍 Oh, one more thing always use a star pattern when torquing your wheels don't go in a circle.
18in wheel and whatever comes on the performance pack
9:30 👌
Have you experienced any vibration at 70mph+? Setup looks really great by the way.
No it’s been perfectly fine ever since. No vibration cause it keeps it hub centric
So I would need 20m in the rear and 15m for the front? I golf r wheels and the offset is 7.5
Yes indeed but you can only go up to 235
Did you use a torque wrench on the spacer itself?
No you don’t have to since there are wheels studs and not studs on the spacer. If you were running a thicker spacer then you would probably have to run bolts on the spacer and wheel
What exhaust system & tune are you running?
As the car sits it’s running a AWE exhaust and IE TUNE
@@jacobMMotorsport is that the AWE touring or track exhaust? It’s sounds great! 👍🏼
