Selling all my physical cards and playing a ~$40 gba game instead is probably the best financial decision I made in my youth.

@@Augrills foreal man, i found all my old yugioh cards out in my shed and they were all bent and water damaged from rain. I was googling what they were worth and I found out I had a few thousand dollars worth of cards (if they weren't destroyed ofc) it was true pain lol.

Great video! Honestly it's surprising how much variety there is in these games and not everyone is just a duel simulator

My brother and I were just the right age when Yu-Gi-Oh came to the States, and while it grabbed him, I never got on the train. He was super into the card game and tried to get me to play, but I would get bored fast and tap out barely even five turns in. I don't think he ever got a full game out of me. The anime only grabbed my attention during that ark where they wind up in the computer world, but I fell off on a cliffhanger. So sadly I never got a case of the Yu-Gi-Oh fever.
In my adult years, I became good friends with a Yu-Gi-Oh queen, and back in February I went to a swap meet and there were a lot, a lot, A LOT of Yu-Gi-Oh games and I snapped up all that I saw and sent them to her. She said she only had one of them but the label of her copy was damaged, so she was happy for a clean copy. I might have even completed her collection. Earlier I found a bootleg of Dark Duel Stories but it seemed to play fine. I only popped it in to test and see if it worked, then sent it off to her. I looked into this video mainly to see if they were all dueling-related, and to some extent they are. Good work on this video!

This was such an excellent video! I really enjoyed watching through all of this. I’m currently going through a nostalgia kick and playing my old GBA games again. I don’t own a Yugioh game, but I have a soft spot for the GX cards and anime, so I might have to pick that up somewhere

Thanks for explaining that field scanning thing from ROD! For so long I thought my copy of the game was broken because of that thing, now knowing it’s actually an intentional part of the game… that’s actually SO much worse!
Still one thing I’ll give that game credit for: The way it tries to emulate Joey’s Brooklyn accent through text makes me smile 😜😜😜😜😜😜😜

Nice video compilation! Duelist soul and world championship 2004 i feel are the most accurate to the classic feel of the card game before all the new rules started being implemented. Yup im an oldy....interest stopped after the ending of the original anime.

Wonderful video, EDS was also my bread and butter growing up and no matter how obtuse and unapproachable Reshef is I can't help but also love it for having one of the best YGO soundtracks, a cool story, and just its own weird niche in the library. Hoping you've got DS and PSP followups in the works, but I'd also love to see a console YGO vid as well just to hear real living human beings actually acknowledge Falsebound Kingdom and Capsule Monster Coliseum existing

Duel Academy I played a massive amount of on my PSP. Had an emulator on it. I played Yugioh before, but that game put me deeper into it. I was glad to see my Summoner of Illusions strat that I never could use in real life due to the lack of people playing the card game, worked insanely well in game. Ah, the memories

    THANK YOU
As a child, I knew I had one gba ygo game. I didn't know that much about it other than the fact that it was an R.P.G.
I was like, "Hey, why can't I find this? Shouldn't it be popular among ygo fans, since it's got the additional rog aspects?"
It was Reshef of Destruction! Thank you so much, I've been meaning to find that again

when will we be getting a nintendo ds yugioh retrospective? yes ds is retro now. side story: i was playing burnout legends on my psp and it had the stamp on the title screen saying it came out in 2005. for perspective the psp was released in 2005, the ps3 was released in 2006 and the year right now is 2023 so burnout legends came out 17 years ago. if you where to play a game that came out 17 years ago in 2005 you would be playing nes games from the 80's like super mario bros 3.

Bro, DDM was so easy to beat the AI, just spam low summon, straight line to them, and cut off any room for them to summon. When I figured that out, it was Joever

I definitely agree. Modern yugioh games have a higher card count but the final DS and PSP games have a ton more variety and customization when it comes to the actual gameplay.

I've mainly played world wide edition on GBA, and I always felt like the ai let you win sometimes and other times just stomped the shit outta you even when you had a amazing starting hand.
For reshef of destruction I had a players guide just cause of how stupid it was to not only be limited but opponents aren't but the whole you had to actually heal after each battle.

The only thing I can say against the GX game is that the PSP GX game is essentially the same thing but with better graphics. And the PSP emulator runs great. This comes from someone who grew up with the gba game but never owned a psp.

I remember owning WCT 2004 and unlocking everything the old fashioned way. I hated nearly every single moment of it as a kid. I was wondering why the AI were not following the Limit List rules and some to get access to them for a while require you to omit cards from your deck; to duel Mai, you can’t have Feather Duster, to duel Kaiba, you can’t have Blue-Eyes, etc. It was only a couple, but was nearly nothing compared to the grinding for a chance at one of the final dualists by having to farm a weaker version five times first. The pack RNG tore me apart trying to get everything unlocked.
I also remember there was a glitch where one of the cards could be added to a deck more than three times. My mind says *Sword of Deep-Seated* was what it was, but I don’t specifically remember except there were six copies in the deck, lol.
