I use Vetericyn to help with minor wounds, and the salon I worked at for years used this aswell. It helps to speed up healing for minor cuts and abraisons.

Thanks for this article. Not many Groomers post anything about injuries. Can u possibly talk about tongues being cut too? Had a dog lick my thinning shears 😢 There seems to be a lot of misinformation about remedies for stopping bleeding. Found giving them icy cold water to lick helped the best.

Last time I had my toy poodle groomed she got cut in 2 places on her face. I took her to a place where we have been taking our dogs for years. What upset me is that they didn’t tell me.

Bag balm is amazing for cuts on pets and people...as well as large animals (what its meant for originaly) I may use tetracycline cream possibly for a bad wound or one in a dirtierplace like paws or eyes or nether regions...but i would stick to something thats not prescription and can be used by owners easily at home. (There are small tins available maybe having some on hand to hand out to a RARE client in a bad situation like this would be helpful to the client). Ive never seen such a big nick on a dog like the one in Your video...but im not a professional groomer....i do work with animals and have groomed dogs and cats and ive seen smaller nivks and cuts before from me and professional groomers.

A nice reminder that no matter how long you been at this stuff happens! I cut/nicked a dogs dew-claw today because he turned around to bite me. (Corp Groomer - Never did the dog before) I might ask the vet about what to do with minor wounds because I'm about to change jobs.

You could not be more wrong!!!! 45+ years grooming professionally both show and pet. I have never cut a dog. I do cut myself regularly. But I’m not a chop shop groomer like you. Big difference

A "chop shop groomer" would absolutely not be on CZcams admitting their mistake and asking for advice. Shit happens, get over yourself.

You may be the kind of person who doesn't admit his mistakes. There's no need to be vicious with the chop shop comment.
