Great explanation of why you spend more time on the top of the weld - so the metal will sag into the right profile as it cools.

Also, if you got your full Mastery in it, do you teach, because it sounds to me like while your body is done your spirit isn't. Sorry for the questions, I just know a lot of guys that love something and will just give it up completely when they can't go at it full time anymore. It is something I understand a bit as injuries have left me unable to do some of the more interesting and fun things I did when I was younger, but I found that teaching these things helped alleviate some of that sense of loss. Again, pardon if this is too personal or off the mark.

Was a fabricator and machine operator. First job as a welder using an aluminum spool gun, was a very hot job, but loved it anyway. Favorite thing to do was acetylene brazing. As far as teaching... Would love to have had the opportunity to work with kids.

Edit: you can walk the cup on this entire weld if you know what you’re doing, seems like he’s making it out to be more complex then it really is and if you don’t wanna grind the tacks just go over it a little then walk the cup backwards over it again and then forward again back over it and that should do the trick easiest way is to just thin the tacks with a grinder tho
