Thank you so much for taking the time to watch this video
#controller #review #nintendoswitch - Hry
I picked up this controller recently because of this video, and I overall agree with this review. While it's not the most ergonomic design and probably not very good for long-term gaming, I like the shoulder buttons and how lightweight it is especially since I have smaller hands. It's also lighter than my switch pro controller and its smaller size makes it perfect for when I play Splatoon 3 which released recently :)
Well I'm glad you liked the video and the controller itself :) so you would recommend it for splatoon 3 then? Good to know
love the Final Fantasy 8 music, very nostalgic
It never ceases to impress me how professionally you review controllers. You're legit my go-to with controllers. The videos are crisp, the visuals are sooooo good. Great close up looks at everything and you cover each point so well and so in depth; like each button, the feel, showing it in action. Stellar review!
Aww you charmer ☺️
This video was one of the main driving factors to get me to order this controller for my switch and iPad. You're review was truly one of the best I've seen and I can't wait to have the controller in hand for myself to use for all my favourite games for both switch and iPad
Thanks man I appreciate the kind words :) hope you like the controller 👍
Nice review! Short, still covered everything I wanted to know, and great camera angles. I actually want to get this for my 6 yr old niece (I think the smaller size of the controller is perfect for kids, and prevents them from possibly breaking the more expensive joy-cons), but I'll wait to see how the analog sticks hold up to long-term use.
Thanks 😊 a 6yr old may be alright with it, I mean the analogue sticks seem to be the same quality as those on the switch's joycons so if she hasn't managed to break those you should be fine
There's an obvious amount of refined features on the Lite 2 to make it a good upgrade from the first. I agree though, different controllers for different types of games.
They all also have another lite one out but all the buttons are on the face, looks interesting but I didn't think I'd use it much
Thank you sooooo much for this direct review, saved me a lot of time!
I like that the Lite 2 has the shoulder buttons, I’d probably sway that way. Nice little review video Mr. Head
Thank you m'lady 😊
I wish they had went with inset sticks akin to the 3ds.
I used to like the 3ds ones then mine just flat out stopped working 😞
im not so sure about this one. To me, the original LITE’s advantage was the fact that the d-pad took place of the analog stick, and forced certain games that normally won’t let you use a dpad to let you use it. With this new light two, the analog sticks remove that functionality, and they (+ the new trigger design) increase the thickness, the the point where you are probably better off with an SN30 pro. Still a cool device though!
Think of it as covering all the basis, now depending on your choice of gaming there's a controller for you that's good for travel and doesn't break the bank
My only issue with the first Lite controller was that for some strange reason, they decided to go with the Joy-Con-style individual buttons instead of a d-pad. (Yes, I wanted it to have three d-pads.) I'm glad they fixed that with the Lite 2.
I would be interested in getting a Lite 2, but it just doesn't scratch an itch that hasn't already been scratched by the SN30 Pro. The SN30 Pro is super portable (especially with the official 8BitDo case for it) and sits great in the hands due to its width and thickness. Given that the Lite 2 isn't completely flat like the original Lite, I don't see much of a point in getting it unless you just want the functionality of the SN30 Pro in something more colorful.
The lite 2 is much cheaper though so I think that will be a big selling point
@@segahead660 That's true. It's cheaper, yet it still has rumble and motion controls.
@@segahead660 how is it cheaper tho k paid 25 for my lite one and 35 for my lite 2
@@saucesquad4220 cheaper than the sn30, not the original lite
I got the lite 1 because I like to play games on my lunchbreaks & the original is more portable. I'm not afraid of damaging the sticks or having an awkward-shape protruding out of my pocket. Sure I can get a carrying case, but I have one of those for my sn30 pro & I love that controller (even more than the lite), but the lite 1 is less bulky!
Best review I’ve seen on this controller so far. Thank you! Just got done ordering it. Straight to the point and covered everything I needed to know👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed the vid 😀
vertically-stacked top/shoulder buttons (or triggers) are a good step in the right direction
At least when wrapped up in a game my fingers don't go to the wrong place anymore
Some nice ergonomic improvements, and I've been playing FFVIII all weekend, di you have to pick that background music 🤣
Yes.. I felt compelled to balamb my garden
Damn I'm just learning this existed. I bought the first lite a few months ago. If I knew this was happening I would have waited
unlucky man but at least the lite 1 will fit in your switch case with ease where as this is just a bit to tight
@@segahead660 True
You beat everyone to the review, nice! Automatic sub
God knows how 🤔 but seriously, thanks for the sub
Looks good mate.
the very first review on the lite 2 on youtube! yasss. been waiting. honestly just disappointed though that they removed X-input. now I can't pair it with my ipad, such a bummer since I've been using the 8bitdo lite religiously with Apple arcade 😞
Wow that's a bummer, email 8bitdo they may have a solution, they've been fairly helpful to me in the past
iOs 16 works with switch controllers!
@@BluhBalls are you serious?! I’m gonna try that now as I’m on the beta version already. Thanks pal !
@@BluhBalls omg it really does ! Thanks pal !
I have the lite 1 and the lite 2 is coming in later today hopefully D-Input satisfies my needs. Weird they removed X-Input but still looking forward to it.
Yeah not sure why they did that 🤔
on amazon in the FAQ 8bitdo said thay want you to buy their wireless dongle, but others are arguing with them that it's not a solution, so idk what to believe - not that I wasnt going to use this on PC anyway.
Hi does this work with iOS for playing retro games using the recently released Delta emulator app? Thanks
What controller portrait comes up when its connected to the switch? I'm assuming its just the normal Controller logo? after all, these arent licensed by Nintendo so I doubt they have their own portraits
It shows a pro controller
Are the sticks the same make as the joycon? Meaning, they can be replaced by hall effect sensor sticks? Hope someone can confirm
Perfect for Mega Man 11 speedruns
I can't even imagine speed running a megaman game
thx for the great vid! thoughts on the Lite SE Model?
Thanks man :) here's a video for the lite SE when it was released czcams.com/video/Ge5aSW3Ru8I/video.html
how crazy that 8bitdo wont just make a dpad joycon already
Maybe nintendo are making things hard for them copyright wise, just a guess though 🤔
Someone tried it with Mac. Do you think it works?
works fine in Minecraft, not as good as an Xbox controller but you cant fit one of those in your pocket. This is perfectly playable though. Even gamecube with something like Metroid Prime is A-OK since that control scheme is still a half baked FPS system.
The analogsticks look to small for me. I'll stick with the SN30pro or the regular pro controller.
But I can see this being an option for a good controller on a budget
Think of it as a good travel controller, fits well in small switch cases
Lol, now I'm going to return my original lite to get the lite 2. I always preferred the genesis controller when it comes to a 2D 8bitdo controller. I believe it's the M30?
Yup the m30 is the one, best controller for megadrive in my opinion
Not bad but I'm not sure who this is for, if you want a compact & ergonomic fully featured controller there is already the SN30 Pro with a phenominal D-pad and full size analog sticks, by having the analog sticks and trigger layout on the Lite 2 you are scarificing the super compact design of the Lite 1.
I would of liked to see a version of the 8Bitdo Lite with 3DS style slide pads and more compact triggers
Price is a big winning point for it, not to mention the flat design makes it more comfortable for people with smaller hands such as children
Is it the same or smaller thickness in comparison to Joycons? I have a case that’s only just able to fit joycons in terms of height so any more and I wouldn’t be able to fit this controller
It's the same really, the best controller to fit in a switch case is the Lite 1 but that is D-pads only
Does this work with the iPad?
I hope the Lite 3 comes in black and white with circle pads instead of joy sticks. Without hall sensors, these just invite drift, and make it not portable.
*I don't think anyone is buying one of these to play First Person Shooters with.
Circle pads would certainly help fit the dam thing in my switch case 🤔
I fucking pre-ordered this as soon as i saw it ive been waiting ages & mine finally shipped out im so excited
Hope you like it :)
@@segahead660 i just got it today happy to report its just as good as I expected thank you for your review
Can it work on PC/Windows?
so can it be used for Android phones and tablets?? infused to have the smallest one and it worked great for my SNES emulators and I wanna use this to play n64 emulators which why I want the one with the joysticks
Yep it works well for them 😀
are the triggers analog? :D also could i just connect it via usb to my pc?
They’re not analog, you can definitely connect them via usb
Does the sticks drift bad? Im expecting to put this in my pocket or in a bag without a case
Nope, hasn't been a problem for me :)
the thing i noticed on their website, this lacks xinput; may i ask if you have tested it on windows pc ? thanks
No sorry, seems like I should have a mess around with it when next I get the chance though
This works on PC with DS4Windows. Didn’t try it without the extra software because I wanted to use Gyro in Fortnite. Took some fiddling with the settings at first, but it works great. Just wish 8BitDo sold a grip for it.
Hi, just curious, how long is the playtime of this lite 2?
Well it says it goes to 18 hours gameplay but mine seems to of lasted closer to 16/17, only takes like an hour or so to fully charge though 🙂
nicely done
Thank you kind sir
I just bought the lite 1 and after recieving it, I saw there is a lite 2 with sticks and rumble. I have one big concern about the lite 2, is there a risk of it getting a stick drift?
I played a few rounds with the lite 1 and reeeealy like it :)
Honestly don't know but mine has been reliable so far :)
@@segahead660 that's good to hear and thanks for answering :)
I ordered the lite 2 too, let's see what one I will keep ^^
@@Lonliiii and how was it?
@@SadielHrz its great. No issues at all :D
@@Lonliiii thanks, might order one later
3:16 you get a like just for the language. 😂🔥
Thanks lol people have always seemed to like me talking like a normal person but youtube as a company is knuckling down on it 😞
@@segahead660 Well fuck CZcams then. The people have spoken!
Top review 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Cheers dude
Quick question, does this have motion support??
yes it have
my question is how do you set up the turbo button? i tried it many times but it simply does not work and that was the biggest reason why i got it
Hope this helps manual.8bitdo.com/lite2/lite2-turbo.html
@@segahead660 sadly i went on that site and follow the instruction where you press the star when you hold the button you wish to turbo but sadly it doesnt work, im assuming it doesnt work for switch lites
Just researched it further through the hells of reddit and apparently the turbo function doesn't work on ANY switch. So that's dumb, having a feature that seems disabled for consoles
@@segahead660 yeah it seems silly well thank you for having a look for me for this, kinda disappointed since I was mainly going for the turbo button
Does this work with windows? I’m thinking of buying it for games on my laptop
Not out of the box, I think you would need a Bluetooth receiver 😞
Great review. Doubly so for the Final fantasy 8 music
Cheers dude 🙂
This works on PC(Windows 10/11 and Linux)?
Only says switch and android
Посмотрел в автоматическом переводе на русский язык. Спасибо, заказал себе такой для игры на телефоне в эмуляторы Нинтендо.
Glad the video helped 😊
How is this controller after 10 months ?
Still doing good, no signs of it wearing out
Will it work for games such as Fortnite or Apex on switch?
I don't own the games so I can't test it but I don't see why it shouldn't work :)
@@segahead660 it worked well! I love this controller
2:13 - "traditional"? I guess it depends on your point of reference... then again, triggers aren't so retro so I guess a debate could be had were the topic worth discussion... 🤔😅
They should have used the PSP style sticks to keep this thing flat
Indeed, that way I could put it in the travel case rather then carry it separate
Is it possible to pair this with an ipad? and use it to play genshin impact?
As far as I know it is not compatible with apple products 😞
@@segahead660 I dont mean to take any of your time. would it be possible for you to check? I heard if you pair via the accessibility settings, it could work?
Does this work on Windows 10 or 11?
On the 8bitdo site it only mentions switch and android
Is that usable at a windows PC??
Not as it is, I believe you need a separate USB Bluetooth adaptor
Can anyone tell me how it works on the iOS 16 beta?
Hey... do you know if it works? ;-;
@@Manoterop It should from what I read. I ended up getting an SN30pro because it supported iOS 15 at the time. I wish I had waited though because I really love the look and feel of the Lite 2.
@@jcabem me too ;-;
I enables with Bluetooth
I would go with the light 2 for everything, twin sticks, d pad and 4 shoulder buttons…nice review/comparison.
Thanks man 😀
Do you know if you can connect to IOS? Im looking for a light small controller i can have in my bag to play genshin impact on the go on my phone instead of cramping up my hand using the phone itself haha. If it does connect to IOS this would be perfect! :)
Only says android and switch, I don't have any apple devices to test it on, sorry
@@segahead660 thanks for your answer! Ill order one then and just test it, if it doesnt work ill have a cute controller for my switch i guess haha
@@SenSenChan Hi! Did you tried it on IOS??
@@Rinoa848 i did but sadly it wont connect :(
@@SenSenChan ;-; I was thinking about buy it for my iPad but seems like it won't work ;-;
Can you connect it to iphone?
I have no way to test it but I believe you can connect to iPhone
How i can connect this controller on my nitendo?
Switch? You can go to settings and use change grip then press the sync button on the controller or try the lead that's provided
Does The Analog Sticks Click In?
Yes they do
@@segahead660 that's awesome Just what I need for my phone 📱, it's easy and compacted , thank You for the reply 🔥👍
@@segahead660 Update: I got my Controller 🎮 Yesterday & I Love It 🔥👍
Looks good for "little people" hbut not for normies.
Does it have gyro controls?
Honestly I haven't played a game recently where I could test that but given the thinness of the controller I don't see how it could
Their Amazon page says that it has motion controls
from the gameplay footage it looks like there is input lag
Well, lately, I've used it playing Dark Souls Remastered, and it seems good 👍
Is it for the Nintendo switch
And android devices :)
say 8bitdo like it rhymes with nintendo like eytbit-dough instead of eytbit-dew
Yeah I know some people pronounce it dough instead of do but stuff it, blame my accent
now you can finally play COD
Just wish they had more color options. Kinda think with the blue version if they just added yellow buttons and yellow sticks it woulda been a great salute to Ukraine.
Very true, I love it when there's multiple color choices for controllers and consoles, there is a red lite 1 with yellow buttons I think, rare though
@@segahead660 that was the Chinese version I believe. Came out around the COVID outbreak so... Ugh timing.
I really wish people would stop spreading the nonsense that you can determine a controller's quality by it's weight. It's the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my life... and most low quality controller manufacturers will glue weights inside them to play on that level of idiocy.
True but you can't deny that if any product feels light you will question what it's missing inside to be the cause of that
@@segahead660 On the contrary, when something has weight to it, I expect to find weights glued inside when I open it up. I usually do.
The hell have you been buying?
@@segahead660 I own dozens of controllers from several consoles both first and third party dating back to the NES. So I've been buying pretty much everything.
I cant connect it on my ipad. I just bought it thinking it will connect but it doesnt. 🥲 what should I do? Help.
It doesn't support apple products sorry 😞 can you get a refund from where you bought it?
With iPadOS 16, did it work?
