  • As the mileage racks up on these 2l mondeo taxis the more problems they are having as in this case there are multiple problems all contributing to one big issue...dpf blocked and forced limited power.
In this video i resolve the faults and carry out a static regeneration of the diesel particulate filter.

We have the same model/engine (2012 with 183,000 on the odo). At the moment with the state of the country it makes sense to repair not replace - car runs like a watch and despite some tappy injectors at low revs, it drives absolutely A1. I'm having these replaced shortly to keep the car at its best. A truly excellent car with a bulletproof engine 💪

The Peugeot 2.0 HDi engines that Ford used in their lineups are incredibly reliable. Drive them right, service every 10k and you'll be golden. On the second cambelt change, it would be wise to prematurely replace the timing chain (expensive but cheaper when done together).

Ford Motor Company used to have a 100,000 mile club, when my mum worked for them in the late 70s and early 80s. Basically, it was a chuffing miracle if a Ford got to 100,000 miles, and people would write in. Possibly a week later, it disintegrated from rust. Obviously they were petrols then, but I would love to know highest mileage known, for one of these! 😀

I've watched another video of another you tuber working on I think VW car and they had problem with low power after engine rebuilt which turned out to be diesel injectors, but the work on the engine had nothing to do with injectors, they died after being taken out and put back in again 🤷‍♂️

never seen a regen happen on camera.
I used to own a Duster 1.5l Dci and the only way i knew it was regenning was the electric fan was on when i reached my destination and heat coming out from underneath the car...
It would have been nice if there was an illumination on the dashboard.
Renault's system used a 5th injector in the DPF to spray fuel and burn the soot off.
When I started doing shorter journeys due to moving, the regen was happening more often. it drove me up the wall
I had to sit there for about 10 mins otherwise it would attempt a regen 5 times. if it didnt complete then engine fault light illuminated.

Modern diesel should be ran constantly for at least 30km trips. They suck in that aspect comparing to age old diesels. My work drive is about 40km's and it seems to be on the verge of minimum to trigger regen on normal drives. To my butt feeling it's about 20km's minimum in ideal conditions to get it started. Not to mention it takes a bit to complete.

keep away from new navaras, especially autos, static regen + oilchange every 3-4k, + it takes 3 runs to get soot down, "so thats £30 of diesel sir, then oil + filter change, so that will be £250 every 3 months sir, oh + its not warranty sir, [our poor receptionists are suicidal...]
