Anmol Ganju i wished the same. Took me 140 hours over 2 weeks time to get to a working PBI embedded app with all the lacking documentation and Deprecated embed service.
Do you know how can I pass values inside the html page so that my report should be sorted A/Q.
Anmol Ganju When you embed your report you select what API call you want to make. There are several ways to call a report: Q&A, edit mode/view/create mode.
In the december or januari update Q&A was enabled per graph tile but maybe only in power bi desktop.
Guaranteed functionality for Q&A and Power BI are for Dashboards, not Reports
Can you provide any documentation where I should look into, I want to pass external date filters so that report gets rendered according to those values, How and where should I start.
Anmol Ganju Can you give me more details. Are you talking filters or Q&A filter both can be outside of the embedded Iframe. You want a special custom filter menu im guessing?

Adam, thanks for all your efforts. Please show us how to embed a report tile to a word or even to a powerpoint document and keep it live. You are the last chance, tried my best to find it out, but no luck.
The only way I'm aware of for something like that is to use a 3rd party plugin like DevScopes Power BI tiles.
How valid is the embedded approach ? I’m reviewing my companies approach based on the assumption embedded tokens are security risks but I think this is a valid approach.

Thanks for watching Kurt! This main items are still there. There are a few other options. I actually have this on my list to revisit. It will be done this month. Secure Embed being the biggest update to this as it provides an authenticated approach with a no-code/low-code option.
I think there are a lot of updates since the release of this video. it would be great if you guys, record a new version of it.

I learn a lot here - thanks guys! I would REALLY like to see an example of how to use Power BI Embed with SharePoint online. My organization has O365 Enterprise E4 and Power BI Premium. I know I can embed a Power BI report in SharePoint modern pages, but I need a solution that works with Premium capacity, I want more control over what gets embedded in my SharePoint sites and I don't use modern pages. Any chance you could do an end-to-end walk-through of the whats and hows to accomplish this?

How can I embed a Report with RLS for the external users??
There a multiple ways of doing this, usually based on the data source you are using in the report. On the basic example, in a report that has imported data you can set up regular DAX RLS Roles and use the USERNAME() function. Now when calling to get the Embed Token you can specify the username and roles to be used for the embedding.

I am trying to create an embedded report following the steps in your other video, creating embed token. However I am getting an error {"accessing_ws_metadata_exchange_failed: Accessing WS metadata exchange failed"} in the AcquireTokenAsync() method - Not sure what I am doing wrong.

I'm trying to embed to customers, just have a question that can be determinant in advancing or not with the solution. Can you tell me if you can assign a Premium capacity (Px) to embed for your customers or is it always necessary an E capacity to do so?

@@gazzam6344 Thanks for the reply, I know but when I asked the question (2 years ago) I was working with a company that add to purchase an E capacity despite having a P capacity, cause it was no longer possible to use the P to use the Embeddded. So I just wanted to clear that out since it seems to be quastionable

Hi Adam - A quick question on Capacity in Power BI:
Is there a limit on the number of calls we make using the API to get the access token.
We have embedded few reports into our Web Application and getting the access token from Power BI GET REPORT API.
Had a call with MS and got to know that there is a limit on the number of API calls if we don't have a capacity purchased
I am still confused, there is too many different things, i cannot get a whole picture. Power BI have pro and premium licences, pro is pay as you go, premium can control the capacities. and then on Azure portal, there is Power BI Embedded resouce. And then in D365, also have embedded power BI reports, embedde power bi.com.
There is definitely a lot of stuff. Just remember Pro licenses are for users. Dedicated capacity (Power BI Premium and Azure Power BI Embedded) is for content/workspaces. Embedded reports within D365 is a bit different. From a basic standpoint, you can consume reports from the Power BI portal (app.powerbi.com), or you can use the Power BI APIs to embed content in an application/location of your choosing. Then you need to deal with what is needed from a license/subscription perspective to make sure you are legal :)

Is there a possibility that scheduled refreshes set in Power bi services will also work for the public Embed report like if refresh is happened at 2:00 pm in Power bi services then would it reflect automatically in the public Embed report also or else we need to copy the public embed url and paste it again ?

At 9:00 Adam says "free users must be added as members of that workspace in order to have permissions to get into content within that workspace"... but don't they only need to be granted access to the published App or a shared report/dashboard? They don't need to be full members in the workspace, right?

Sir, I am having a doubt that if when i have granted permission for the registered app. I am trying to get access token using master user approach and i have multi factor authentication enabled on the user. Still the request would be successful because i have granted permission or it will give error back

How is the capacity requirement enforced for the Power BI Embedded example, once it is moved to production? The only thing I can think of is that if there is no capacity applied to the app workspace, then there might be a degradation of performance at a sooner point than if it had capacity. So if a production application did few page renders, then you could get away with not having capacity.
Performance degradation is one. Also, it is monitored on our end. So, you may get a nastygram at some point :)

I have studied power bi to an advanced level yet, I found one requirement that i could satisfy.
That is to pass the live dashboard/charts to display inside a html tag/content
though it appears possible to publish a dashboard with static data inside a html tag/content.
Our company is trying purchase power bi licences to create a cusomized realtime charts but I am in a doubt whether it would be possible to
create realtime updating dashboard with powerbi and exlpoing it inside a html tag.

excellent video, thanks! I do have a question still. Imagine a web app based on SPO. Users login to the app with their SP accounts. Now they all happen to have PowerBI pro license too. I want to embed reports in the web app, but I don't want them to get prompted for logging in to PowerBI or anything else after they logged in to the app. Is there a way to use the token that is generated when they log in to the web app (which is used for working with SP content) to get the embedding done? otherwise they'll be paying for pro licenses and also the capacity. I want to avoid creating 100 individual accounts just for reading. All users within our organization can view our reports. Wanted to see if I can just buy capacity for reader usage and PBI Pro licenses for dev? thanks for any guidance.
Embedding with power Bi works with onpremise reporting server as well??
It depends 😁 Power BI Embedded itself is a concept for the Power BI Service. But you do have some options with Power BI Report Server - docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/quickstart-embed It's a bit different though.
Thank you for the video, now bit more clear.I registered your channel. I have other question. when report is published, workspace name has owner access. Does this mean that everybody in this workspace O365 group has owner access ? we do not need to grant access separately but they have access R&W? if this O365 group has 400 people, does this mean 400 people can modify my report ?
It depends on the role you assign to them. There are four roles. If you only want them to be read/consume make the viewers. See this doc for more information docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-new-workspaces#roles-in-the-new-workspaces.
Adam, good video... At 3:28 you mention we have to use AAD app type as Native App... Why? Why not AAD app type as web app?
At 4:49, you mentioned that consent permission is not required for Native App so it better to use the Native App. But still not clear as the master user will have always have consent for embedded why not use web app?

I noted Power BI new updates on enabling Action Bar (which allow to export to PDF/PPT) available for User Owns Data.
#Q: Is there any way to export to PDF/PPT with App Owns Data?
(I hope there is another way than using REST API with Premium Account)

Adam I normally just use the embed code that's generated from Power BI service and just put it in either Share Point or our intranet and it's all working fine...how that is different from what you've described in the video?

No Chris. PBI RS currently doesn't support embedded capabilities and it can't be shared outside the organization scope.
When embedding PBI content into my own web app, how often is the data refreshed by PBI?
I think it depends on your policy.
If data are into your dataset (import mode) you need to schedule refresh
If you are live-connected to a SSAS, refresh must be done @ server side by processing your model.

Can I Embed a powebi dashboard in SharePoint Online site using SharePoint Add In. In this case I need to authenticate to Azure AD via Javascript SDKs and generate the powerbi EmbedToken also using javascript SDK. Is that possible?
No. Power BI Web Part for SharePoint Online is only for reports. The Generate Token call is just a REST API call which can be done from JavaScript. The JavaScript SDK does not allow for that, you would need to make the rest api calls outside of the SDK. Once you have the token, you could then use the SDK. Although if you are in SharePoint Online, why would you need the EmbedToken? that is more for ISV type approaches. WIthin SharePoint Online you have a user context for your Tenant.
Guy in a Cube we are trying to display a powerbi dashboard ( not report) in SharePoint online site. The powerbi webpart only supports reports. So my thought is to develop a SharePoint addin which will use REST API calls and powerbi sdk to get the dashboard displayed. Any other options? Our reports are published into powerbi premium and only our internal org users required access to dashboards from SharePoint.
I realize this is 3 years old but i'm having an AWFUL time with trying to embed power bi into a wpf app.
Wpf and javascript do NOT play nice.
