I've seen a lot of cars and I'll have to say that this 50 Merc is probably one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. Wow, it's just stunning.

When I think of custom cars this is what comes to mind. A 49 or a 50 Merc that's had all of the custom rod stuff done to it. Beautiful. Perfect color too.
This car is such a beautiful work of art
I remember as a kid, in the back back of the station wagon late at night on rt 89 in the mountains of Vermont. I was watching the headlights of the cars behind us, slowly overtaking us. I must have been 8 or 9 years old. My father, a car nut, was at the wheel and I saw him focus on his side rear view mirror and all he says “oh kid, watch this one comin up.” My dad could tell just by the headlights something special was about to happen. We’re going maybe 60mph, that old country squire wagon pushing up a steeper grade in the mountains. Just then a slammed 50 Merc, hugging the road, just burbles with ease up that steep grade. He passed us with the most glorious exhaust note I can still hear. We could see out our windshield the faint red glow of his taillights and the little purple inset in each one. I listened to the fading rumble as the driver of that old Merc presumably successfully climbed towards a heaven in those mountains Ive been trying to find in my own interest in cars ever since.
I have never seen another Merc... make me stop in awe.......here you have 1 of a kind.......stunning.....such a work of art!

I’m 57 years old and I’ve been a fan of lead sleds since I was a teenager. This one is spectacular! My idea of what a lead sled should be. I want two, one with a modern drivetrain and another with a supercharged flat head Ford V-8.
You don't see many of these anymore. Love it

49-51 Merc’s were epitome of custom lead sleds, it is the car that I always gravitate to at car shows, I have to say it’s my all time favorite cruise car, because it doesn’t need tons of horsepower or a raucous exhaust note, it’s all about the attitude and moving slow ! I love the drum barrel wrap, I seriously considered using it instead of carbon fiber sheets on my interior, lead sleds definitely need drum barrel wrap! Beautiful workmanship and fit and finish, really well done!

what my dream car Shawn is a Cobra movie car with a 429 Boss motor same color. I love that movie car with that Battleship Gray. of course my all-time favorite would be a 1969 Hemi Roadrunner. this car that's being showcased in the video would be my second choice. but with my modifications that would like. as always stay gold!

It screams 50's gangsta style and Lead Sled was what I remember the old motorheads calling those big heavy cars. Heavy Chevy was another one but nothing beats this chopped Mercury. Machine-Gun Kelly, Baby Face Nelson, Capone, Cagney, Bogart, Zero Mostel, etc would be proud to see this bad boy put to work.
Haha, almost all those guys died before this generation of car would have even been built. Not being an ass, just think it's funny.

It's hard to bead the look of a chopped 49 or 50 Merc. It's just about perfect.
Love these old Mercs, especially the lead sleds, Incredible craftsmanship on this car. Would have been nice to see an updated FoMoCo driveline in it to maintain the trueness of the car. Be safe and stay well.
It would be interesting to see it parked next to a stock model and then have the owner point out the modifications.

I love the chopped roof look but at 6'9" I always thought I wouldn't fit in someting like that.
