    Eurail/Interrail infos:
If you're booking your journey in advance then buy your tickets directly on thetrainline.com for example.
If you buy the pass and use it to make early reservations (as the eurail advises on their website) the overall cost of the pass+reservations will be more than buying tickets directly, plus, you will be treated as a suspect second class citizen with your reservation marked as "Must Show Pass". Another cons to Eurail/Interrail pass when making a reservation is that you have no way to choose your seat. I was always attributed the worst seats when I used it : usually in the 4-block seats facing strangers (often families with children).
If you try to use the pass few days earlier to your journey on high speed trains in Europe, well it says No Seats Available for pass holders. So in all cases the pass isn't worth it neither when booking early nor lately.
My advice is to book the tickets for all your journeys in advance while having a complete control on your attributed seats and saving money.

Can i give you a Huge hitachi tip.. especially appliant for GWR. It is well recommended you sit in the front set when using a 10 as Food and drink is always provided for the full duration of your Journey and usually not as many people cba to walk to the front with bags and suitcases so i always sit in the front from pad when on 1C96 or 1C98. Nice you got 1C72 shame you sat in the back the front set lead from exeter is a lovely person on the 1012 off exeter. But Great video seen a few of yours Pop up lately liked all of the ones ive seen! Definately do sit in the front and try reviewing penzance pad. I recommend 1A88 or 1A92 for penzance pad but if you dont have a reservation. Make sure you are there 20+ mins prior to departure to orginise yourself in a unreserved seat of which is L59 usually or L54, 55, 57, 58 Table for 4. Hope you are well.. 😊 😅😊

I live in the South West of Ireland which is a beautiful area, but have always been fascinated by the beautiful villages of Cornwall Devon and Somerset. It's on my bucket list to visit these villages. Jut wondering if the likes of GWR do a weekly ticket where you can hop on and off different routes at your leisure. Great video by the way. Thank you.

Thanks for enduring. It appears a lot less comfortable than the HST's I remember.
I was planning to use the trains when I return to the UK for a long holiday next year, however after seeing this I've decided to buy a car instead. Can sell again after the holiday, save heaps and I wont have to sit on an ironing board. Horrible colours too, my acid house daze are nearly over.

The last time I travelled by train from Paddington to Cornwall,125s were still in use, and they were much more comfortable than the bucket-style seats on the newer trains. I wouldn't like a long journey sitting in one of those, even in First Class.

    • @donlogan83

When you buy the ticket on the website, you have the option of Standard or First Class.
As for reservations, they are usually honoured. Only issue is when there is an IT error or shorter train formation, they can be cancelled, and then seats are filled on a “first come, first served” basis. If you are in First though, there will almost always be spare seats.

The one thing Brits are fussy about is class on trains, the Brits have First Class and Standard Class not Second Class. Get it right
