- It's about time I got round to this one. I thought I'd include the other variants aswell apart from the one heard in 'Breakdown Train' as that's just basically a loop of the 'Gordon Nearly Destroys Percy' and 'Dirty Objects' variants.
(EDIT: I just checked 'Breakdown Train' and it turns our that version has the tambourine added and now I feel daft. I've added it to Soundcloud though but I'll add it in the Complete S1 OST Video (when I eventually get to that).

When your so used to hearing the runaway theme not being clean, having sfx and narration in it for the S1-3 one that this sounds a bit off on a 1st listen
Yeah, when I was younger, I would always listen to those versions people made with just clips from the show in really bad quality, and coupled with the fact that most runaway scenes have a lot of chuffing noises makes those ones pretty hard to go back to.

He went straight through Edward's station and was so frightened that he ran right up Gordon's Hill without stopping.
After that, he was tired, but he couldn't stop. He had no driver to shut off steam and apply the brakes. "I want to stop! I want to stop!" he puffed. A man at the signal box saw Percy was in trouble, so he kindly set the switch. Percy puffed wearily onto a nice, empty siding, ending in a big bank of earth. He was too tired to care now where he went.
"I want to stop! I want to stop! I *have* stopped!" he puffed thankfully.
Thomas: (thomas the unstoppable tank engine) why can't I stop?!
I like how every instance of James being in a runaway outside of the first one has an extended intro

This was amazing! Can’t wait for you to the Season 2 runaway themes.
There should be two variants for the season 2 version, for The Runaway and A Close Shave (Old Iron variant I think won't be part of it mainly because it is basically the same as the Dirty Objects variant). I just hope that the beginning and ending of the A Close Shave variant will be included.
@@Mullet345 I think there should be three because the old iron runaway theme has a long build up and different end to the runaway’s version which also has a build up and different end as well.

I love the sudden stop of the Percy Runs Away and Dirty Objects runaway themes. It can respresent both a sudden stop and a crash.

What I really do like bout season 1's runaway theme is that last bit at the end of the first and third variants. They are scary af and show the severity of the situation well, shame it wasn't reused.
Fr! The end of those variants is so sudden, most runaway themes slow down at the end, and if they don't, then there's a build up to the crash. In the Dirty Objects and first Percy Runs Away runaway themes, the ending is so sudden.

He had run into two tar wagons, and was black from smokebox to cab. He was more dirty than hurt, but the tar wagons and some trucks were torn to pieces.

Brilliant rendition, are you going to do S2 and S3 versions too? The Toby's Tightrope version is my favourite, surely the most dramatic of all the runaway themes.

I feel like the pitch of dinging bell effect in variant 2 should be a bit higher than that, but everything sounds very good.

Actually the variant in Breakdown Train is different from that of Percy Runs Away. I'm surprised nobody's noticed that.
I just checked and realised it actually is and feel quite dumb for not including it. It's essentially the the Percy Runs Away Variant 1 with the Tambourine included.
I thought that was excellent. I loved it. Have you thought of doing the Series 2 version from 'Old Iron' and 'A Close Shave'? :)

You can really hear the bell here compared to the old videos showcasing the Runaway theme which sounds more different from the muffling nature.

If anyone could remix this with the S2 and S3 themes (which were made by AceofTrains from Soundcloud), I would give them a medal!
The first and 3rd versions sound just about perfect, but the 2nd version seems to be lacking the power behind it to me. Listening to the actual episode the main melody sounds more...poundy? I'm no musician so I'm not really sure how to describe it. Lacking a bit of oomph it seems to have in the episode.
Love your work though, we owe you a lot mate!
I can guarantee you I have gotten down everything I could hear in that episode down from each note to each percussion line. EQ can play a huge effect in this things as there’s no proper soundtrack so hearing said thing in a ‘clean’ way can be a bit weird when we’re used to hearing it muffled under a lot of SFX/ older audio quality.
