    I'm an elementary teacher, I can feel how tiring it is after every class teaching kids but at the end of the day the learning of the students make me feel happy despite of all the sacrifices ... By the way teacher Paul I really really love watching your demonstration with these children you are such a very good teacher .. how to be you?? Hehehe I tried to teach Grade 1 and they're very much the same with these children .. you handled your children with ease, with a very smooth transition very commendable ...I'll love watching your teaching strategies ..---Kim/PalawanPhilippines

      A non-music teacher singing off key is delightful for kids who may or may not want to sing. IF a teacher sounds bad then maybe the little ones won't be as embarrassed trying to sing. At least that's what I tell myself. Who cares if you sing off key as long as you are encouraging in your attempts which then allows for more participation instead of feeling ashamed that one can't sing as good as the teacher.

    When I only started watching the lesson, I thought, what great classroom management. But then there was a miming game where a kid joyfully jumped up to "kill" a snail and then the whole bunch of kids did the same! Unfortunately, Paul the teacher just ignored this. I understand it was a demo lesson and probably educating kids that it's not OK to do something like this to a snail or another animal was not on the plan and therefore sacrificed to the whole "fun" of the lesson, but it was a wonderful and crucial learning opportunity missed for the kids. And I felt really disappointed by how the teacher reacted. When we teach children English, it's really so much more than just English. It's teaching about manners, about tolerance, about respect, about appreciation for nature. I hope people who watch this video will also pay attention to this and do differently. Even a simple "Stop! No, it's not OK." would do for this lesson and later on Paul could extend that through a story where children could see what's right and what's wrong.

    • @Monarch816
      @Monarch816 Před 7 lety +8

      You think you are going to teach Chinese people to have respect for animals all of a sudden? That just isn't how it works. The culture is starting to change, but little animals especially are not cared about. You can buy little baby turtles in a water bag here that die in a couple of days. It is seen as good luck. Not only that, teachers aren't supposed to show negativity to the children. Especially kids of this age in the video. They are too young to reason with really. Once you show them negativity you raise the risk of them shutting down and not learning anything else the whole class.

    • @Peoplehatethetruth
      @Peoplehatethetruth Před 6 lety +1

      PrimePerception exactly! You have to focus on the lesson. This isn't a class to teach them manners, this isn't the only kindergarten class they sit in all day. This is their English class. It's hard enough getting them to stay focus on the lesson.

    • @medioporfiao
      @medioporfiao Před 6 lety

      What do you mean Chinese people? Most people don't respect animals. They pay for animals to be killed on a daily basis. Considering that (and even what you said), it'd be even better to start teaching children respect for animals at a young age.

    • @bigtasty89
      @bigtasty89 Před 6 lety +1

      Reading into it a little hard there. What you saw as snail murder was just a hilarious bit of fun on a class-mate with his guard down. If you pointed out the "problem" you would likely have to deal with snail crushing mimic children and manic laughter for the rest of the day.
