"The neighbor's hose" 😂😂😂
My reaction exactly! 😂
Thanks tech tip Todd! Yeah, mine wasn't closing the whole way. Took it apart to clean the old crusty hard stuff off and give 'er a good lubing. The hard part was getting it back together. For the life of me I couldn't do that. I took the sawzaw and cut an inch out of the middle. Went back together with ease. Used a 4 inch rubber coupler and worm clamps to close the gap. No more problems for the last 4 years.
When I got my Rv in 2019 one of the first things I did was replace the toilet with a composting toilet and then combined the gray and the black as one grey tank. Awesome for boondocking!
Todd< I Know you have more knowledge in the tip of your finger than I will probably ever have. Just a though, if the vent is suspect, would it not be a good Idea to have some one hold down the flush valve while you check the drain. Seems that the open valve would allow it to drain if the vent is the problem. Maybe this would be a quick check before climbing on top of the rig. Due to possible "not so great" fumes getting backed up in your toilet room, I wouldn't advise to keep the flush valve open very long. Just a thought.
Hi Todd
Love your videos. On today's topic, I have heard of the disc that was cut out to attach the drain fitting being left in the tank by lazy worker and it eventually finding it's way to cover the poop exit. Then naturally it getting grouted in place by the poop.
Wow thats a stumper. I have seen so many rv issues but not this 1. Lol. Rv are so much fun. Just had a repairman here 2x in 2 days. Fun
Very much dependent on the specific RV, but... We have a Class C on a sprinter chassis. The black tank drain outlet points at the back bumper. Our driveway has a pretty steep down hill section. Parking the RV pointed down the hill makes it easier to work on the black tank drain valve because the drain opening becomes the highest point on the tank.
If it’s a venting issue wouldn’t flushing the toilet help it vent?
Do u need a separate hose to flush your black. Tank 😊
Todd, did I see you on an Audible commercial? 😉
What if the gate valve is not closing properly allowing the liquids to empty slowly? I think this is our problem as I have to dump about 10-15 gallons in through the toilet when I’m ready to empty tank. I can then flush with water from the full port by closing the valve while filling and opening after a couple minutes 3-4 times. I’ve come to this conclusion since every time I go to empty tank nothing comes out initially until I go through this process. Is there a way to clear whatever is obstructing the valve from closing without replacing? Thanks!
I’m afraid of the dreaded poop pyramid happening from there not being enough water in the tank when solids are deposited. Unfortunately we are living in our fifth wheel for a few more months while house is constructed without a way to move the camper or take to a shop. I thought of buying I believe it’s called a rhino back flush valve and leaving the main gate valve open while closing it at the rhino valve in order to keep the liquid in the tank.
