I am not affiliated with the games or its composer in any way and I highly encourage you to buy yourself! Video footage taken from : • Let's Play Octopath Tr...
It was a massive improvement over the first game, but i don't know if it was game of the year material. However the OST not being nominated is some serious crap. The composition of the songs, the absolute diversity of genres and sounds, and how memorable a lot the tracks are. It will be fact this will be one of the most underappreciated soundtracks of all time.
@@thatonefan7292 It's a shame Octopath 2 apparently didn't do that well, compared to the first one. I guess Octopath 1 had the advantage of being close to the Switch's launch (and it introduced the art style), but Octopath 2 really is better in every way, yet barely anyone talks about it. I hope Octopath 3 still happens for the music alone!
This track in particular really woke me up and got me to start paying attention to the music in the game. The way the music builds and builds as your character and the boss are speaking -- to the "whooosh!!" as the scene moves into the battle proper -- and finally the music transitions to the boss theme with the DA DA DA DA-DA! DA DA DA DA-DA! DA DA DA DA-DA! DA DA DAA, DAA! It gets me so hyped up every time!
It was the same in OT1. Each character has a special song that acts as build up before each story boss and no matter at what point you finish the conversation, it's designed to follow the cadence and rythm of the boss fight theme. It's marvelous
This was the first boss track I came across in the demo just cause I was wondering how the music compared to the first game. This immediately became one of my favorite tracks of all time.
I agree as much I didn't like OT 1, OT 2 did surpassed it in every way that what I expected from JRPG from SE they should really go back to their roots with the FF that what made their success
For me this is a masterpiece. It's in the hall of greatest and best tracks of every RPG I've ever played. I wanted to hear more times in the final chapters of the game.
From what I've heard so far, this melody is my most favorite, it's emotional and epic at the same time, I could listen to it several times, and I won't get tired of liking it
This song is so good that when I heard it for the first time, my brother had to come in from the other room to tell me to shut up because I was vibing and humming/singing it loud as hell. 😂
2:26 -2:45 is such a great part. I always found myself building up a big turn around this part in the song, so when 2:46 kicks in, one of my characters is generally throwing out a big attack. I can't imagine the gameplay was balanced around that timing, but it made this song that much more memorable for me
God the introduction goes so incredibly hard. It really just makes you go full mood epic battle. They could play that in a fight against a snail and you would be motivated to erase it from Earth.
This plays for the following bosses: Tera Veron & Doron Plukk Pirro Bergomi Warden Davids Captain Stenvar Garnet La’mani Felvarg Bandelam the Reaper Rai Mei
Critical Clash II is the best boss battle theme ever made! even better than "those who fight further" it keeps me from fighting the first few minutes because i am enthralled with the musik!
I'm not the only ine where this specific figth agains't the guard became a nutrition war, rigth ? I was a biiiiiit reckless with the items at first, and it quickly became a daguer and wand figth (wand cause spells are costy, and daguer cause I NEED THOSE SP TO HEAL !!!)
This might be a bit of a hot take, but I honestly think this theme alone manages to blow most battle themes from the first game out of the water, even Battle at journey's end
This theme tends to be for fights where they may not be as serious of an undertone compared to Decisive Battle 1....in some cases it may even be comical (Throné Chapter 1 is one exception though). By far my favorite track of this game....especially 0:47 to 1:11....pure eargasm dO.Ob
This was the first boss track I came across in the demo just cause I was wondering how the music compared to the first game. This immediately became one of my favorite tracks of all time.
One thing I've noticed is that there are some tracks that sound DRASTICALLY different with headphones vs through the console without headphones. Unfortunately, I much prefer this track without headphones. The difference is quite surprising.
it's because with headphones you can hear much more depth in the sound and many background instruments otherwise impossible to hear (and I absolutely adore both versions but I can understand people having preferences)
Honestly Idk why they decided to put critical clash 1 in most of third story bosses, if you think about it, the last 3 times you hear cc2 are in (spoilers) Castti ch2 winterbloom Ochette ch2 Tera Hikari ch 4 Which is a shame bc cc2 is easily one of the best boss themes of all time, I know cc1 fits better in some "ch3" bosses like Throné, Ochette or Osvald, but at least they could change it for Agnea and Temenos
Not nominated Goty nor best OST for game awards is actual robbery.
Not being nominated was a crime but FFXVI winning wasn't bad. It could have been much worse.
Octopath II has my favorite gaming OST that I have ever heard, I completely agree.

Game awards are crap anyway
Straight truth
I keep thinking im a caveman cause i keep discovering fire
Yasunori with Decisive Battle II: I'd just made a ripping soundtrack.
Yasunori with Critical Clash 2: *BUT I'M NOT DONE YET*
This is true.
If Octopath 3 is getting a green light, then it’s gonna get more better with a potential new boss theme 😁

You cannot ignore some tracks in games, a lot of jewels.
Just paying attention.

Japanese composers are incredible.
For example, Nobuo Uematsu.
I can't decide if I prefer this or Decisive Battle II from the first game, they're both stellar!
There's not bad or good with Yasunori's music, only perfection
This is superior in every way. Decisive battle 2 is just overhyped.
Honestly, they’re both amazing.
This composer deserves to have his music toured. Music is ridiculous
Agreed, they’re both excellent

The Journey's End for this entry in the series gotta be the best piece of music I've ever heard in any video game. This one is incredible too btw.
The flutes and trumpets in this game went absolutely NUTS
“YAHOOO!!!”
“ON MY HONOUR AS A KNIGHT!”
"CALCULATIONS COMPLETE! LET ME SHOW YOU WHAT I'VE LEARNED!"
"REPENT!! SAY YOUR PRAYERS!!"
"NO MERCY, ONLY PAIN!"
"YEE HAW, I'VE GOT MORE GRIT THAN I CAN HANDLE!"
@@Wotvr Time to clean up the filth.
As swift as a snake! WATCH ME!
Any song with chanting vocals is basically a win in my books
I remember hearing this for the first time playing the demo before launch in Osvalds story when you break out of the prison with Emerald. Epic!
Most epic prison break ever!
God the introduction goes so incredibly hard. It really just makes you go full mood epic battle. They could play that in a fight against a snail and you would be motivated to erase it from Earth.
This made me buy the OST. This song right here. I wanted to crank it on GOOD speakers, and my god is it satisfying.
Song gets my so absorbed into the boss fights
When you’ve read the letter in the bottle…
Holy shit, Square Enix didn't name a boss track "Decisive Battle" for once!
Now THIS is how you do a boss battle soundtrack. :)
Probably my favorite battle theme across both the Octopath games
Octopath 2 is better than 1 in every way. This soundtrack is perfection.
This is SOOOOOO GOOD. I need to make a cover for it
I play this song in loop while training in the gym. ❤
Osvald fight was amazing for this, and was an AMAZING introduction to it.
Now get outta his way. He's got someone to actually murder this time.
Ikr! Whenever I hear this I imagine how much I want to destroy harvey
This song so good 👍
Best banger of the ENTIRE Soundtrack. Prove me wrong.

One thing they all had in common. They picked a fight they had no chance of winning despite how tough they actually are.
Veronica should've had it tbh, this fits her much better than CC1
Osvald chapter 1 and 2 is a shor pleasant yet sad experience

I 100% agree for Agnea, but Temenos... the fact Crick is dead fits CC1's more somber tone well
