The System is an American synthpop duo consisting of vocalist/guitarist Mic Murphy and seasoned session keyboardist David Frank. The band was founded in 1982 in New York and backed up by Paul Pesco on electric guitar and Kris Khellow - keyboards, synthesizers. Sometimes the group is referred to as an "emotio-electro" band because of their hi-tech, synthesizer-driven sound mated to passionate vocals and sensitive lyrics. - Hudba

Hell Yeah, great music lives forever !!!
56 here!!!..Who is still listening 2024❤
I was in 8th grade when this song came out & I'm 50 now.😊
I still have the CD I bought in 1987!
Me! 56!
I’m 50 and it takes me back to my school years . How quickly time goes by. Times that will never return.
54 here, this jam came out in our teen years.
I FOUND IT!!!
Man, I’m 7 weeks away from turning 60, but I’m very happy I finally found this groove. I’ve been looking for it for many years by searching for “a black singer and white guy” or something like that.
But never found it, until today, Mar. 25, 2024.
All of a sudden, the word “Groove” popped into my head. Then a little more searching and HERE IT IS!!! Man I love this groove and the memories from 1987
I’ve also been playing this song like crazy this year. Don’t know why..
So happy that you were able to reconnect with this feeling.
60 is awesone! I just turned 60 March 29th. Love it.
Lucky you…..damn I know how it feel to search for a jam and don’t the name
so many good memories with this song
Released in 1987. Still loving in 2024!

@@ta2fiend Man, I can't stop watching this video. Class of 1982..Locke High School ( Saints)
Good music. Actually today is my Lil Bro Birthday and he sent it to me and he was actually a baby when this came out...
This song is over 30 years old, and it still sounds a lot better than any of the new music they play on the radio today.
I agree! I always loved this song!
🌴
I'm 17 and love this song
You are so right
I think you have here is an Eva Cassidy. In my definition, an music artist or artists that have the talent but not the proper promotion or time to be promoted to be really well to be known to the public is an Eva Cassidy. FYI ... I make this definition based on a real music artist of the same name which she only made one complete series of songs on CD. She started to be very popular but, sadly, she died of cancer at about 30 years old. Her songs were popular in the UK and were play during the New year's Eve celebration 2000 and 2001. Her life story was reported on ABC Nightline with Ted Koppel in the last week of December 1999 and repeated in the last week of December 2000. This is where I make my definition of calling this video an Eva Cassidy, period.
This song should have over 100 million hits.....one of the best of the 80s
The groove of this song should never be disturbed.
This is one the best songs to come out of the 80's.
❤
Ikr real soul music
What I loved about the 80s era the cultures and music especially wasn't as segregated as it is today . Hip hop stations was playing this and many more classics genre of music .
2024❤❤❤
This song makes me feel like everything is good even if it's just for a few minutes.
Ditto.....
Great Point🙏😁
Lol...a few minutes 🤣🤣
Word!! 🕰️
Bingo!
i really miss when the music industry required you to be talented and produce everlasting music 😭
I would say an artist of this era that stayed true to this kind of sounds its Bruno Mars
I saw somewhere that the majority of today's "hits" are written by two individuals, one of whom is Swedish, and that everything is now written in the same key because some data analyst thinks this is the way to go. I had noticed that everything on the radio station I listen to was annoyingly in the same key--and it has an "Indie" format. 🤦♀️
@@nestor1924 bruno mars sucks , he sounds like a poor imitation of these classic older eras without any of the talent or original sound , they're all generic today. your best chance is trying indy artists and niche music genres online that's usually not major label mainstream stuff , any good mainstream has been dead since the end of the 90's.
You don't think YW mellys song "murder on my mind" is a delicious timeless masterpiece?...🤣🤣🤣
Sooooo true. Dam guys who remembers talking to 1st girlfriend watching MTV when this was the shit. This helped all of our TALK game on that dam house phone. Enterprise Al remembers
I'm 54 and I was 17 in 1987 when this song came out...I'm still listening in 2024 and still feeling this groove
My mom had a white poster with blue writing with words "don't disturb this groove" on it. She would dance, sing and point to the poster. One of many great memories of that beautiful woman. I pray we reunite again outside of this world. Love and miss my mommy . ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️

This has to be one of the best songs ever. I loved this song as a child.
Remember hearing this as a kid going into the 90s it was magical the way he song that song. He put so much into it.
Hey Tiff

This joint is still 🔥. One of the best songs ever from the 80s, I was in junior high when this was out. I'm telling my age🤣🤣. I miss the 80s.
So who’s watching this timeless classic here in 2020? As relevant and brilliant today as it was waaaaaay back in ‘87
And I love the video too 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

1987, one of the best years of my life.

💃🏾🙋🏽♀️. They just don’t make good music anymore!
aaron gross yes! Lol
Nothing can beat that 80's sound
Maybe a little bit of the 70s...
The 80s definitely go hard.
70s had the best soul, 80s had the best rock and pop, 90s had the best hip hop and R&B.
You said that shit right
You're crazy if you think 80s rock is better than late 60s and the 70s @biggmt6832
I'm 57, just barely 21 when this came out. This feels like yesterday!
47 yr old mom here! 80's music is amazing! So blessed to have grown up with these jams! And because my husband and I listen to so much 80's & 90's music all 3 of our kids love it as much as us ❤️ #LongLiveThe80s

Relaxing this this coronavirus crap inside home listen to this classic song love this song
Definitely me....even for 1987, it would be a great remake for 2020. Video didn't match the theme of the song in my mind though. I wonder if it's a budget and time problem to make a music video like a Disney direct to any other format like in the 90s or no one had enough creative imagination other than shoot it out in the desert somewhere near a major city in California spending overnight in a motel hopefully to get lucky for a couple of one night stands...Bob's your uncle...Next!!!
ME!
You need songs like this to bring you back to when the world had sense
Ain't that the DAMN TRUTH!!! 😆

I was a 5-year old when this single dropped in January of 1987. I remember my mother playing this song a lot, when I was a small child. Now in June of 2019, I'm still enjoying this wonderful tune.
I was 8
I was 6 when the song came out. Every time it gets to the lyric "Hang the sign up on the door", I wanna my arms from side to side and dance like a little kid!
Yup....barely into the New Year (1987). Was about to start my 2nd semester of my freshman year in college.
I wasn’t even heard of or thought of
I was 4.
I'm a 63 yr old dude, lt takes Me back to 1987.
True fact, l was in LA on hols. Found the famous Tower Records store on Sunset Strip, went inside and purchased The System album, " Don't Disturb This Groove. "
I've heard their sound called,
" Synth- Pop."
But when l was in the London Clubs ('83) dancin' to ," You are in My System " it sounded like Heavy Bass line Electro Funk."
Happy Dance Memories,
From an Ex Soul Funkateer.
In addition to my 2 month's old last The System 'comment' l would like to add this... .. .
" Did anyone see the 1984 Film, "Beat Street" ?
I remember going with a group of friends in London, UK to see this indie Hip-hop / Breakdancin' movie.
At some point in the Movie there were auditions going on in a local community centre, Bronx, USA....
The next shot, The System duo were on stage playing a song ( No clue wot song ) but just to see them looking larger than life on the Giant Cinema screen, blew my mind!! ( & My jaw hitting the floor ).
I mean ," You are in my System " was playing in the London R'n'B Clubs at the time.
To see and hear them both Wow!!
Even what fashion Mic Murphy was wearing!
Just a 2mins part in Beat Street film was Phenomenal at the time.
No Internet. No mobile phone. Just word of mouth and Blues and Soul music magazine to spread the word amongst friends.
They Never did Tour the UK ( to my knowledge ) and parted ways in 1989.... but as l look back in 2024, l am Soooo happy and grateful that l was there in that space and time 'dancin' to their songs and awaiting their 'Import' Album release dates via Bluebird Record shop, Paddington, London.
On my last Comment Entry l signed off... " An Ex Soul Funkateer " but maybe (Ex) was wrong, as surely Once the Groove is within your Mind, Body & Soul then it's ALWAYS part of You. Amen. Bless Da Funk !!
Good story. This song hit when I was a senior in high school and it was an instant classic to me.
