Yo Winter, what's the fastest way to max the Metrics/Algorithm on these videos? I don't care about TvP and aren't interested in watching this one, but I still want to seem "interested" to the people financing/Producing this.
I saw the video titles, but I still haven't ripped off the bandaid and learned exactly how Professional SC2 recently got screwed. All I know ATM is SC2 needs all the help it can get.

That BC jump on game 1 was literally a meme. You can pause as soon as the BC shapes appear. I could hear the "It was at this moment that he knew" play in my head.

Battle cruiser operational (I really miss this line. Much preferred over "Who called in the fleet?"). Also, quoting Supernova who is a former Korean pro, 200 supply 3-3-3 BCs have no counter. I have seen him take on maxed Tempest Void Ray sky toss, mass Thor or max supply Corruptor Viper with it and win lmao

TvP is a game of bravery on the side of the Terrans, and delay-action for the Protoss.
Terrans have to make a bold, decisive All-In or they spend all of their army on shields, especially over prolonged engagements.
You want to be on top of their best units, fast.
And for Protoss you want to use choke-points, fast reinforcements, micro management of shields, and disposable "meat shields" to soak up the worst of the fight.
They are better on the retreat and hitting where the enemy army isn't.
Battlecruisers being capable of teleporting directly on top (or slightly behind) your Protoss army is DEVASTATING!
Likewise Phoenixes are deadly early game if you have the numbers; they can consecutively pick an army AND all the workers apart piecemeal, leaving enemies with NOTHING but buildings.

@31:50 .... Yup. You literally have to stare at your units as they move around the map instead of macroing, or they just immediately die to a 0 APM investment from your opponent. Widow mines should not exist.
I have to hand it Gumi, I've seen him play a few matches where he leans on the Battlecruiser now. Not a Terran unit that should be counted completely out anywhere. Also when it comes to Byun and participation, it's refreshing to see. Can't get GUD if you don't ever play. I think he may have picked up that discipline from his military service.

I noticed this thing a long time ago that was happening with what I'll call "second generation games," ie xbox/gamecube/ps2 era and onward, relating to gen1. Basically developers were all pretty small as gaming was not accepted as a serious medium in the west yet, which is where the more successful companies other than fighting game devs were located.
Games were not being made to be balanced for competitive play. Blizz knew Korea had their leagues I'm sure, but no one could have forseen what LoL would do. Now design is autistically overwrought and tedious. Devs are thinking and overthinking how to not be lambasted for balance upon release (even though that's unavoidable as there is an industrial complex of sorts dedicated to simply generating this criticism) and they end up sterilizing their metas to death and overdesigning.
Some randomness, bugs, and spontaneous nonsensical ideas is what made starcraft fun. It also shaped balance patches for Iccup and gave actual players the ability to transform starcraft into a game that was, if not perfectly, relatively fair and balanced.
HotS obviously did not go well and felt like inflatable bumper cars, but Overwatch is Blizzards other massive failure on this front. The MILLISECOND there were rising complaints about something they would hack off pieces of the game until what was left was depressingly bland. Valves pathetic attempt at killing hearthstone was killed off like week after release because it was the most overdesigned piece of trash ever devised. Melee is INCREDIBLY imbalanced, and Sakurai seems hellbent on making it a jumping simulator by the time he dies.
Roguelites weirdly also have this problem. Curse of the Dead gods appears to have been designed by an autistic 7 year old.
Anyway, blizzard forgot what made starcraft good and they made sc2 out of the parts I didn't like. Major builds are often just death balls where you amove and pray, and build orders are essentially rock paper scissors, turning the meta game into a tally of who can scout the most number of times in the right area.
Can't force an esport. Gamers have to carry it. Devs and balance devs just don't play the game enough to be able to know when community backlash is legitimate and when it's not.
