If you have been to Holland as I have, no one respects, Allied War dead like they do. The Dutch people where worth saving, flags of US and UK still fly amongst Dutch Flags and as a testament almost all speak english rather well. If you have never been to the US Cemetary in Margraten, you can see how the locals honor and take care of the graves of the boys who died and are buried there.
Look at the effort, manpower, materials and cost that went into bringing these men home! Without such work, people who fought for their country would be just forgotten about ! Some families can get closure from this, as they can be removed from Missing, presumed killed list! Hopefully the crew get burial with full honours!
Usually, we let those war-dead rest in peace. In this case, the bombs onboard the plane made the recovery necessary. Recovering the remains was a small effort once the site was dry....
You guys do such an amazing job. Your efforts are appreciated so much by the families of those who you have recovered. You recovered the remains of my uncle in 2003 at Opmeer. RAF Stirling N3654. Thank you to the people of Opmeer, the Dutch Recovery Teams and Leemans.

Well done the Dutch for this. Total respect sending home 6 of the 57,205 Bomber Command aircrew who were killed out of 125,000 aircrew (a 46 percent death rate). My great grandfather piloted a B-17 Flying Fortress, he was a part of the 447th bombardment group, he flew 6 bombing missions over germany and survived the war, I never met him but he is buried in NYC. Videos like these really make me appreciate and respect the diversity of people who had the bravery to fight against the Axis Powers.

Young men and boys, hero's all of them.I doubt many of them ever thought how much they would still mean to us so many years later, power to the people who keep there memory alive.
my uncle was a Rear Gunner on a Billy Mitchell bomber that was shot down over the South Seas of China. he was last seen parachuting into the sea but his body never recovered. for years my mother had dreams of him coming home. it haunted her, really. families of MIA soldiers get no rest because there's no closure. my heart is filled with humility and respect for those who brought these brave men home to their families and country.
The Dutch remember The War and have not forgotten. Fantastic video on so many levels- The skill the Dutch have with hydraulics is amazing as was the recovery. Excellent video.
The bravery, suffering, and sacrifice of the Polish People before, during, and after WWII are Legendary. From defeating a Soviet invasion intended to conquer all of Europe in 1921, helping the Jews trapped in the Warsaw ghetto, the battle for Warsaw itself fought by the Polish Home Army, which saw the near total destruction of that beautiful city, to the thousands of Polish patriots who escaped the nazis only to enlist in the British Army and fight ferociously. Europe and America owe Poland our respect and gratitude.
What courage these young Polish airmen had. They climbed into those bombers, risked their lives all over again and went back over there. How incredibly courageous. From Canada, I thank you, our Dutch friends, for honoring them.
I wonder what the American WW11 veterans who fought they're way through Europe would have made of the extreme right wingers, who call themselves 'patriots' openly flying swastikas on the streets of the US? and a President who doesnt care.
Against so many people lobbying for their rights and complaining over everyday "pressures", what the Dutch achieved here is nothing short of magnificent. They set out to do something good, and they did it.
I couldn't help but be moved very deeply by this story as my Grandfather served in this war too. He was the senior stoker on the Australian HMAS Arunta and all the seamen that served with him called him 'Pops' Sweeney 'cause he had a bit of a temper. He survived the war only to be killed in a bi-plane that got hung up in hi-voltage power lines within 6 months of his return. He'd always wanted to fly but settled on duty being a seaman because of his age. The families of these 'Returned Fly-boys' will be forever grateful to these brave men too.
I salute my fellow military. As a woman veteran in 1974 so glad to know that our people never stop looking to give our loved ones CLOSURE and peace. God bless all and my salute.
I believe R.A.F.is the British Royal Air Force.bI don't know if they were polish airman flying for the RAF?If that is the case I also thank these Polish airman for their service and sacrifice.
Knew Free Poles in Peterborough, England, who fought at Arnhem and elsewhere. Impossibly brave, their sufferings and love for their country that has endured so much, was remarkable. I’m proud and honoured to have known them. Sto lat! The Dutch are a great people too.
Humbling. A moving, fitting operation to bring these brave airmen back for a more suitable final resting place and perhaps comfort and closure for family and relatives
All of their sacrifice is not forgotten. The good against the bad. The good won. Thank you for honoring the men who died. Dosent matter what language you speak. Thanks from USA.
Yes ! The people that put this together and made it happen. You are thought of in the highest regard. You can say you were only doing your job but a noble one at that. I’m not even close to where you are but it has touched me and hit a soft spot for people that honor and go way above to bring closure. Thank you. Very heart touching.

@Frenk Frenk many killed by their own officers, always thought it was sround 40 million and not to mention the millions murdered by Stalin.
God bless anyone involved in ww2. Love your family, they are why you can.
@Frenk Frenk You might be interested in TIK history stalingrad series. Very detailed and drawn heavily from Russian Archives.
God must be a dick for all this suffering and death
Amazing respect this recovery team has for this air crew. Huge effort in the recovery process.
Respect... Sad that most of the world doesn't have this value anymore
Polish plane crew... after all these years they finally will return from their mission and will Rest In Peace
a prayer for their souls and their sacrifice
Thank you for returning these brave boys to there home land well-done to the Dutch
The Lancaster flyby: the good side of humanity and nationalism.... God help us now.....
You'll be waiting a while...
@@Shanidar1 Oh you of little faith!

@J B you are so right! Soon they will tear down war memorials..
TY to all who contributed to this outstanding effort! Always good to see those who served being brought home.
Thank you for bringing those men home.
Did any one else have tears when the BBMF flew over at the end. A fitting tribute to those brave men and a brillent recovery.
Rest in Peace, brave warriors... RESPECT for the Dutch!
So proud we go to such lengths to honour those that served for us, god bless.
Those men thought they would be wiped from history forever, lost eternally to the sea, hope they are able to see what we see and know they were not forgotten.
Nice words. Thank you.
I don't believe ever forget a debt, they are probably the most Honorable people on the planet. Thank you from the USA for your hard work and efforts in remembering the past
Amen . Respect to the U.S. forces who contributed to the freeing of Europe .
Thank you Holland, really moved and very impressed.
Thank you for your involvement, they wil be #notforgotten
Amen
Beautifully done. Total respect for the crew of the bomber and the recovery teams involved.
Honor the memories of these brave souls, and the hundreds of thousands of others, on both sides, who fought for their homelands.
Amen, very well said. They fought for freedom, to many often forget the sacrifices these brave you men and women paid for our freedom.
Cheers too that!!!
What courage these young Polish airmen had. They climbed into those bombers, risked their lives all over again and went back over there. How incredibly courageous. From Canada, I thank you, our Dutch friends, for honoring them.
Sadly a lot of people in the US do not appreciate the sacrifices that were made to give them a voice no matter how stupid they sound.
Too true. ... we definitely have lost the thread of history over here ... I blame the Rolling Stones.
@@paulryan2128 Thanks for getting Elvis off the hook.
Just following draft dodging wuss boy in office.
@@dukeallen432 Your response makes my point exactly.
I wonder what the American WW11 veterans who fought they're way through Europe would have made of the extreme right wingers, who call themselves 'patriots' openly flying swastikas on the streets of the US? and a President who doesnt care.
Fantastic effort to bring the crew home, a job extremely well done!
Brave men who gave all for freedom sake. 👍👍👍👍👍🗽
I salute my fellow military. As a woman veteran in 1974 so glad to know that our people never stop looking to give our loved ones CLOSURE and peace. God bless all and my salute.
Quite a moving story. Men who gave their all for our freedom.
Thank~You
Good Job, Well Done ! !
Blessings To Fellow American Patriots.

To the Dutch, Thank you, for you're continued care. The those Polish Airmen, I salute you. - Florida, U.S.A.
I believe R.A.F.is the British Royal Air Force.bI don't know if they were polish airman flying for the RAF?If that is the case I also thank these Polish airman for their service and sacrifice.
Huge respect and gratitude to Leemans and the Dutch people. Thank you from England.
That flyover gave me a chill.
Knew Free Poles in Peterborough, England, who fought at Arnhem and elsewhere. Impossibly brave, their sufferings and love for their country that has endured so much, was remarkable. I’m proud and honoured to have known them. Sto lat!
The Dutch are a great people too.
It had to be done. The respect given to the fallen was appreciated, thank you.
Humbling. A moving, fitting operation to bring these brave airmen back for a more suitable final resting place and perhaps comfort and closure for family and relatives
So much respect for the Dutch in this recovery operation !
All of their sacrifice is not forgotten. The good against the bad. The good won. Thank you for honoring the men who died. Dosent matter what language you speak. Thanks from USA.
My eyes got a little sweaty there at the end. Great story worth a 70+ year ending.
Yes ! The people that put this together and made it happen. You are thought of in the highest regard. You can say you were only doing your job but a noble one at that. I’m not even close to where you are but it has touched me and hit a soft spot for people that honor and go way above to bring closure. Thank you. Very heart touching.
On the night 08-09/May 1941 Crew was on the way to bomb port of Bremen and was shot down by German Night fighter on approach to Dutch Coast. RIP
History is so awesome !!!
Absolutely amazing job men !!!
Thank you !!! ✈ ✈ ✈ ✈ ✈ ✈
So apparently this video has been appearing in every WW2 enthusiasts recommend lately. Good
Thank you for posting this, I found it very moving. May God Bless all those young men who laid their lives down in the cause of freedom.
Need to hire the Dutch to put a coffer dam around New Orleans!

Forget New Orleans, get them to Venice as soon as possible!
@@riograndedosulball248 Been to both...food's better in NOrleans and the place doesn't stink. Downside, gangs will shoot you if you stray outside the protected tourist area. Welcome to America!
USACE is perfectly capable of designing flood protection. In fact, any well educated engineer is. It is just a matter of priorities were federal funds go.
Dutch experts have given their expertise in New Orleans an also in New York after Sandy.
Just incredible. Amazing. Glad to see that people still have respect for these boys.
RIP all the veterans
Indeed. Well said!
Bravo for going to all of these lengths at great expense to recover the brave air crew!
Honneurs à ces pilotes et bravo pour les moyens employés.
This makes me proud to be Dutch. A nation that still exists because many fine soldiers gave their lives for our freedom. They should never be forgotten.
Well done lads. 🇳🇱 And a tip of the wing to the fallen heroes. 🇬🇧 🇵🇱
The final salute was fantastic, I'm sure those lost are honored. Thanks for what you do, and thanks for finally getting those young men back home.
My respect to these men, who did not choose death, but chose to do something, anything, instead of standing idly by to Nazi tyranny.
RIP gallant Crew! I hope the families if still alive can find some comfort in that their family members are finally coming home. Thanks for sharing. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
The freedom we have came at a high price. R.I.P.
And we are freely giving it away little by little.

They gave everything they had doing their duty in making the world a better place. Paying your respects and giving them a proper send off is the absolute bare minimum anyone should be asked to do. I can't imagine what it's like for all of those families who never found out where their relatives ended up.
This was great work on the part of the Dutch.
greetings from Mexico that also lost airmen in the war, both in Europe and in the Pacific
My Uncle was a flight Sgt lost with his crew on a training mission, 1942. They flew out from an airfield on the east side of England, they could be out there somewhere, so glad they are slowly being located. RIP
I can promise that im not the only one with heavy heart and misty eyes. Farewell brothers in arms you're finally home.
Thank you for your sacrifice....
Fantastic.. A huge thank you to the Dutch people involved. They were the first to erect
a monument to British and Commonwealth bomber crews lost during WWII.
Utter respect..............thank you.
The Dutch are simply amazing. Thank you for all you do for all fallen airmen, of all nationalities.
