- Hang out with me while I spend a day exploring Vlorë, Albania. It's a chance to see this beautiful city in the same way that I am experiencing it. Starting with a morning walk near the Mediterranean, my day continues through seeing attractions, having coffee, eating a traditonal dish for lunch, visiting shops, searching for a bus stop, grabbing a gelato, strolling the streets of Old Town, having local seafood for dinner and even getting a haircut.
You will see exactly what staying in this Albanian Riviera resort can be like.

Come along and travel the world with Richard Green. Retiring in the spring of 2023, I am embarking on full-time world travel. I'm going solo, but the idea here is not to focus on me so much. It's about the places and the people along the way.
The title Old, Alone and Far From Home might initially come across as a sad state of being. My mission is to show that it's just the opposite.
Another great video! Thanks for sharing your time in this incredible place. Really enjoyed the unscripted pieces showing you enjoying your meals. The morning walks look amazing too. Nice job!
Appreciate it! Wasn't sure how taking a more personal approach would work. At least I enjoyed it!
Vlora 😘❤👌
You know it's fantastic!
Old, Alone and Far from Home should be my moniker as well! :-) Just stumbled on your channel. Been slow traveling 7 years now. Thank you for this video of Vlore. Will be there next week, having spent several weeks now in Albania. Will try your coffee shop.
I'm glad to know there are others out there! You will love Vlorë (and the coffee shop.)
Thank you for watching!
@@oldaloneandfarfromhome Looking forward to it! Thank you. Yes it IS great to meet a fellow nomad. Cheers to another adventure.
This is one of my favorites! It was a glimpse of an ordinary, regular day and felt very comforting. I can’t believe you ate all that food in 1 day!!
It was a lot of fun to make the video! If it gets good response, I'll do more like it in other places. It was a lot of food, especially since I normally just eat once per day. I was able to push through, however!
Do a little short on your IF and walking lifestyle!!
Where was the location of all the buses?
This was so much fun to watch! I'll be in Vlore in a few months!
Thank you! I hope I did a good job of giving you a feel for Vlore.
You are going to love it there!
Correction: Vlora is next to the Adriatic, not Mediterranean
I used Mediterranean and Adriatic interchangeably when talking about Albania. Official descriptions say that the Albanian coast is on the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, within the Mediterranean Sea.
Thank you for watching and for commenting!
@@oldaloneandfarfromhome No worries! I live right on the beach. 😀
Love the title of your channel !
Thank you! I'm very proud of that name!
What a fabulous video. Well done 🎉 I'm going there in a few weeks and I'm so excited x
Thank you so much! You will absolutely love in in Vlorë!
Great video once again! Thank you !

As always, I appreciate you watching!
Great video! I love the more personal feel!
Glad you liked it! It was fun doing something that was slightly different.

Thank you for this great video of my city.
Cheers from Beijing,China.
You are very welcome!
Thank you for watching!
oldtown looks amazing cosy
It is a pretty sweet place, even though it's really not the "old"!
Thank you for watching and for commenting!
Great video. I really enjoyed it. Vlore is a place I have not seen before, and I have never seen any vloggers film there- much appreciated.
Thank you! Vlorë is a pretty special place. I was originally planning on staying in Tiranë, but was persuaded to go to Vlorë by an Albanian who I met back home.
I am honored that you've watched some of my videos!
Highly valuable for me, planning a trip there in June.
You are going to love Vlorë!
Thank you for watching.
Nice video. Glad you like my country ..
So happy that you enjoyed the video! It is always special when people from the place I am visiting say that I have done a decent job in representing where they live.
@oldaloneandfarfromhome Of course you do ..your description is right and dhe video editing is superb 👌
Really glad I watched this video. I couldn't find a lot of recent info anywhere about Vlorë, all the info is outdated. It looks like the city has transformed a lot over the past few years. Looking forward to my stay here soon!
Thank you so much! I truly enjoyed spending five weeks there!
Have a great time!
Nice video! I’m looking forward to visiting Albania soon. I’ve been in the Philippines for almost a year and it’s too hot for long walks, so it’s nice to see how walkable it is there. The food seemed fairly priced for being in a tourist town.
Thank you! It is quite enjoyable here and I think you will love it. Food is very reasonably priced in every place I have visited in Albania.
Ici very very Nice albanie end beatiful for vlora citty bigose end citty tranquille 👏👏✌️👌👍
vlora riviera visit saranda himara ksamili in riviera ALBANIAN TOP DESTINATON
Very interesting video!! Vlora is becoming the capital of tourism in Albania and we call "The Miami beach of Albania " In addition you should visit Berat , Shkodra and of course Tirana the capital!! Looking forward to your new videos. Greetings from Tirana .
That is so nice of you to say that! Thank you, too, for the suggestions. A video being released today is about Gjirokastër and another one coming up soon is about Berat. I appreciate you watching!
top ALBANIA NATYRAL 😘😘😘
12:40 "I discovered a bread that they brought with it" - if you don't dip a bread to your soup in my household, my mama will be very mad at you and wait for you with a slipper 😁
Your mama is very wise!
Thank you for watching and for the comment!
@@oldaloneandfarfromhome thanks 😇 will fly to Albania this saturday. looking for videos to learn a bit. will check your other videos too... what i like about your content that it is not tiring, easy to listen, and digest... it is calm...
Those are very kind words about my video style. Thank you!
I am excited for you to spend time in Vlorë. You should have a spectacular time!
Hello, really loved you video! So insightful and shows just what this beautiful city has to offer. I'm traveling to Albania in two days and would like to clear some queries with you. Is there any way to connect with you?
I'm glad you liked the video. If necessary, you can email me at rtgreensc@gmail.com.
Great video. How much was that cappuccino?
Thank you! I went back and checked my records. The coffee was $2.00 USD and that included the tip.
A most informative video. One critique if I may. The USA is the only place left in the world that uses pounds, miles, and degrees fahrenheit, so using the metric system that the rest of the world uses might be more appropriate, especially when you are "far from home"!
You make a good point. The only other factor though is that the majority of those who watch my videos are in the USA.
Thanks for watching!
Can you tell me if there really was a bus from Vlore to Gjirokaster at 6:30 am? Thank you.
That was the case when I traveled the route. Schedules can change, however, so you'll have to check closer to the time that you want to make the trip.
where would you say is the best to stay in Vlore? downtown around Boulevard Ismail Qemali or south of that area?
Thank you for the question.
I enjoyed the area south of downtown, because of the access it gave to the lungomare. I was able to pop out of my place each morning and be on the shore for a walk in just a matter of minutes. There were also many restaurants and shops readily available.
Even staying in that area, it's only a short walk (2 kilometers or so) to get downtown and visit places such as Old Town.
I hope you enjoy your stay there, when you go!
@@oldaloneandfarfromhome thank you so much for taking the time to reply :) so you stayed around Te Lilo, is that right?
Yes, I was just around the corner.
Do you know if it's possible to get coffee drinks with non-dairy milk there? Like oat milk or almond milk? Or is that not a thing there?
I never tried to get those alternatives when I was there. I did find an article about coffee in Albania that mentioned it is rare to find cafes that offer soy milk, almond milk, etc.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
There's a chain cafe called mulleri (or something similar to that) that does soy milk
Is vlore a city for living all year long ?
I've been here in October and November and I've found it to be astounding, even though it is the off season. The weather looks like it will be pleasant and not too cold during the winter. I am sure that the city gets quite crowded during the summer months, when people come here for their vacations.
Ultimately, I can only speak to my short experience here, but I can say that I like what I've seen very much!
