The soon clock has been a meme for as long as I can remember. It's iracing taking the piss a little bit because they rarely ever say when a feature will be released. Rather, it's always perpetually coming "soon". They are just having a laugh is all, light-hearted trolling ;)
Part of me feels like they wanna have it in time for Daytona 24 which would be this build but I wouldn’t be surprised to see patches adding it in to all the cars for Daytona as time progresses
There's already been confirmation it won't be ready in time for the Rolex. I'd say if there's a Sebring special event, to expect it around that time frame...
iRacing has always had rain. It's just been invisible.

Looking forward so much for this, can't wait.
I really hope they do get it all sorted and ready for the December build, but they didn't sound too sure in the video so it might slip to the first build of 2024, but when it does drop its really going to be something we are all going to want check out !

like the DCS ( the iracing of flight sims ), "2 Weeks" meme, when anyone asks when a new map or plane is coming out, everyone says "2 weeks" ( then it releases 3 years later, haha )
Very curious to see how well people with the d class license handle the rain. I remember the gt3 and it was rough in there. Formula 1600 wasn’t out yet so not sure how it is. But on the other side introduce it early enough and people can grow in to and into the cars.
I've been on many race tracks in my 89 Porsche 944TS with Toyo R888R tires and if I slid around as much as I do in iRacing I would of sold my track car week two! Can only imagine rain in iRacing OMG 😲
Can't see how the current tyre model will cope. Tyre slip is already on the unrealistic side in the dry. Not to mention the huge impact on FPS it's going to have.
Tyre slip is much better than it was a couple of years ago. Generally you can't really hustle the cars, but going over the edge isn't instant death it used to be.
iRacing is actually fairly well optimised
Majority of people that play iracing can’t drive for shit! This is going to be absolute carnage
With software development, you can do it:
- quickly
- to a high standard of quality
- cheaply
Generally, you can have 2 of the 3, but not all 3.
Looks like iRacing is trying to do this at a high standard, and for a sensible budget.
I always think that the raindrops at that speed like at 1:50 are pushed away from the screen. Or from the helmet visor. Back in the days we had this kind of see-through-turning-visor. But it was due to the slower speed of the go-carts.

I have been informed its a common Meme that takes the mick out of iRacing taking so long to release features
I think if we waited until it was in a decent state for all of the series that would benefit from rain, we would be looking at another year of development. While iRacing has a testing team of drivers, the reality is you really don't know what you have until you release it service wide. Also, they may break something. It is one thing to have a series or two down while they hotfix it. If they released it everywhere and it really broke something it could be a nightmare. It sucks being patient, but when you are doing something this complex it is the nature of the beast.
I wonder about performance. If someone has a lower performing PC and their track detail isn’t too hot I wonder if they can see puddles and wet spots. They might think they are losing traction randomly when there is an actual puddle there. Plus the rain causing performance drops. Will I have those problems, I don’t think so, but the person in racing next to very well might.
It will be fine. People need to practice again. And those who care too much about irating, deserve to lose it :D

As a brit, this iRacing isn't a real simulator until there is rain.
I think iracing shouldve focused on fixing there physics and ffb before doing rain, there graphics suck real bad too, they did say there gonna work on graphics.
Honestly not that excited, stopped playing iRacing a year ago for sims that have rain and different tire compounds, but i will sub for a month to see if the tire model has improved but i just don't see that happening on such an old game
Not looking forward to it, to many crashes in races already.
