  • This is a look at my two Nikon Digital SLR's. The d70s and the d60.I love these two cameras even though they are way behind in the modern specs dept. The lenses I show here are exceptionally sharp and the vibration reduction feature on them is very good.Below are some links to one of my blogs where I show you a few samples of pics taken with these cameras.Enjoy and don't forget to like or subscribe or whatever. Thanks again for watching. Geoff.

Ps I think i called these two cameras Pentaxes at the start. Freudian slip! Also if you here any noise in the background trhat is the hazard of recording in a suburban backyaed.

Regarding when comparing lens sharpness, don't forget to factor in your age. The older you are, the shakier you are. A few years ago I bought a Canon T5i kit for a friend who is 9 years older than me. He was an avid film photographer but never really took to the Canon. After about a year, he admitted to avoiding the T5i because he was finding it harder and harder to hold the camera steady. Recently, as I was pixel peeping some of my own photos I realized I had gotten a bit shakier recently. At first, I thought the lenses I was using were a bit soft. Then I took a look at some RAW files I shot back in 2002 with my Nikon D100 with 2002 Tamrons 17-35mm and 28-200mm lenses. Pretty damn sharp, even at slow shutter speeds! Subsequently, a friend gifted me a Tamron 16-300mm VC (Vibration Control). I tested it on my D100, D200, D90 and D7500. Surprise! The images I took with VC on were all sharper than those without. Every lens I have purchased since has VC (Tamron), OS (Sigma), or VR (Nikon). And I find myself shooting at higher ISOs and faster shutter speeds, too. (The noise
Perhaps you believe the Nikon lenses you're using with your D60 & D70 are sharper, but are you comparing them to non-stabilized lenses?

Thanks for your thoughtful comments. My comment about the sharpness of the lenses probably goes back to the film days when I saw a whole lot of images taken by one of my son's friends on a Nikon film camera and i could see a notable sharpness above what I was using at the time.We should be able to get sharp enough images these days if we think about what we are doing re higher shutter speeds and ISO's as you have suggested. Happy new year. Geoff

Great video Geoff. I'm an early owner of a Nikon D70, bought mine in April of 2004. Fantastic camera, was my first digital. Started with Nikon in 2001 with the N80 film camera and when D70 digital was announced it was an easy upgrade for me except that the flash SB-28 I think was not compatible, but my small lens collection was. When you set the N80 and D70 side by side, it is easy to tell that Nikon made those two models off the same manufacturing tooling as far as the body elements are concerned. I've had great memories with my D70 and still own it, while I've upgraded to a collection of other digital and film cameras. The D70 was also a bit similar to the D100, which was the first Nikon digital body that I longed for at the time, but in the end D70 was a more modern and better camera than the D100.
Great to hear what other people can share in their photo experience. Thanks.

Thanks for your comments. We are spoilt for choice of old and new cameras these days arern't we? I have just recently acquired a Nikon D3000 which I believe was an upgrade of the D60. It comes with a Sigma 17-70 F2.8-F4 zoom lens. The lens has mainly good reviews and seems to be fetching high asking prices these days. I have only just taken a couple of shots with it so far. I intend to do a review of the camera and the lens in the next few weeks. Cheers Geoff

Thank you Luis for your kind words. It is truly remarkable being able to share around the world. When I was about 11 the highest form of future tech I used to dream about was being able to listen to the radio while riding my bike. Presto! 2 years later I had a pocket transistor radio that made that a reality. And now look. It's a pity we couldn't improve human relations around the world at the same rate.I think this is the quickest anyone has responded to one of my youtube videos just posted. Those lenses are really great. I had a look at your youtube channel but I only have english.cheers. Geoff

Thank you Timothy for your kind words. I had a look at your channel and much there I would like to be into but saving all that for a rainy day. This last several months I have been encouraging a 90 year old in a nursing home to return to his art and he has really embraced the idea. He has produced some great work from some of my photographs I have supplied to him.cheers Geoff

@@pembridgehouse Hi Geoff, thank you so much for the reply! Also, thank you for checking out my channel. I love that you are able to show people that just because a camera is older, doesn't mean that it isn't still excellent. I can see that you are inspiring to so many including myself. I subscribed to your channel and I will share it with my friends and students.
