I agree with you about how it’s very rude when people say “they can make that”!
They can’t make it like you or me.!!! I have my own crochet business called Hip Fine Crafts and have built my business up slowly working on my patterns, supplies and ideas. I don’t like to share all that I have figured out either. It’s a journey of learning and creating unique items.

Your crochet is absolutely beautiful, you should be very proud. I am also in Western Australia and just starting to market prep myself. As far as people commenting that they could make it, have you thought about selling kits. Crafters love to make and they would be a different customer target market that you could tap into. You are obviously a talented pattern maker so create a pattern that you are happy to share, add the wool and a hook and you have another product to sell. Just some thoughts, see the opportunities.
