    This is so awesome!! I went to high school with Ken and live in the same town as him still. Ken is a beast! I was at his very first show he ever played! • @TheJokesterSCR
    @TheJokesterSCR Před 3 lety +19

    I really don't understand why some people hate on two feet blast beats. It's the best and most effective way to conserve energy. I don't know that I'd ever do a single-foot blast even if I could.

    • @HonkeyKongLive
      @HonkeyKongLive Před 3 lety +15

      Some do it because they feel single-footed blasts are easier to coordinate since it's only two limbs going instead of three. It's especially useful if you want to do blasts where the cymbal isn't going every single beat because it's REALLY hard to perfectly coordinate a double bass roll with snares in between without your other hand anchoring it. That said, people acting like drumming is a "sport" are stupid. You use the easiest technique to achieve the sound, there is NO point in making things difficult on yourself.

    • @TheJokesterSCR
      @TheJokesterSCR Před 3 lety

      @@HonkeyKongLive That's the best answer I could ask for. I personally find it much harder to keep time without my left foot. I guess it's just all about how we were taught/learned.

      @Kerosian1 Před 2 lety

    I love drummers like KRIMH, Kevin Paradis, Eugene Ryabchenko, David Diepold(Outstanding drummer/super tight), George Kollias. But I particular love Ken's style, he's so precise and creative even at those extremely high speeds and makes it look effortless. Every drummer has their own unique configurations but I personally love Ken's drum set up compared to other drummers.

    The thing that sticks out about Ken is how completely relaxed he looks. Kevin Paradis is at the same level but doesn't look the same level of utterly relaxed (how much of that is due to him just doing straight singles for super high speed double kick, I don't know....). Ken looks bored. Blows my damn mind.

    Marthyn! Just wanted to let you know he actually has gone back to his axis from his Kopytos. I believe if I remember correctly the axis were just a better feel for him with his technique, as axis are light and complement his use of light beaters! A couple things pop to mind. 1, the drum head won't flex as much, the sound when alone might be noticeable, in a mix, not so much. 2, the length adds some needed energy for striking, which is probably why he prefers really light beaters, or needed because he likes em light. 3, back to 1, drum head deflection and recovery is faster than in center.
      Amazing the amount of physics involved. More so his working with it and making it look so effortless.
