From one barefooter to another..I always appreciate you baring your sole(s) for us.
My record for being barefoot is 8 months with no foot cages.
I'm a northern boy and used to regularly jog in below freezing temps w/o shoes, one time I danced on the ice of a frozen lake for most of an hour--fun fact for y'all in the northern climes..your feet will build a layer of fat to help withstand nippy toes.
I'm and the U.S. southwest now..barefoot in the desert on 100° days with little discomfort.
I love the feeling of connection to our Mother Earth..she wants to heal us, as any caretaker should.
I was most appreciative of turning to this lifestyle bc it forced me to slow down from such a fast-paced world..
Plan a few steps ahead, I believe this subconsciously aids in other everyday life affairs. It adds a certain mindfulness we don't get other places.
I'm into massage and believe walking on different surfaces gets us a little free reflexology.
Top many people are unaware of proper foot health, and how it affects our overall well-being.
Thanks Weedy, for inviting us to science with ya.

Thanx for that DYQD... I was always getting yelled at to put my shoes back on when I was a kid and now I can’t even stand It without slippers or something on my feet even in the house... since breaking my back everything hurts my feet !
And I was the chick that could run in high heels no problem.... it’s probably exactly what I need - but I can barely stand it. Strange. Nerve damage changes your perception and sensations....As a gardener I have to have my blundstones or rubber boots on for the shovel etc but this has inspired me to maybe start inching my way back into trying to make my feet less hyper sensitive, starting on my grass.
Weird, I was just going to tear out my entire front lawn and turn it into gravel and xeriscape it because it’s pure sand and not built for grass -- a waste of water....and now I’m rethinking it hearing your story and so many others on this page.

My partner and I are both in our 80's and have a similar experiment going, only it is our bed. We have a wire out of the bedroom window attached to a grounding rod with a crocodile clips on the other end which we attach to our pyjama waist band. when we remember to clip it on we sleep really well if we forget it is a restless night. we have been doing this for about 5 years and are both in perfect health.

Super cute! Once I learned about earthing, I quit wearing shoes hiking and try to only wear grounding shoes. I’ve had really profound health results with grounding. I wanted to suggest that it would also be suuuuper fascinating to look at the water from each jar under a microscope after the two weeks to see if there are any noticeable changes with the little micro critters between the grounded and ungrounded water.

David I've often noted differences when germinating seeds. The same way potted plants sitting on the ground will send roots through the drain holes into the earth, seedling trays sitting on the ground, rather than a table or shelf, will develop faster and stronger seedlings.

Great vid as always David, definitely going to try the no shoes approach from now on and see if I can feel any difference. One thing I will say as a Boilermaker/Welder for the last 40 odd years is you will not earth without a good clean earth cable to earth stake contact, you will not earth through rusted steel, so my advice is to use copper grounding rods/pegs, I'm sure most people have experienced battery trouble in their cars usually caused by poor terminal contact. Another thing that should be a consideration is that copper can also attain a pigment called verdigris, the green coloring often seen on copper, which will make grounding harder, Verdigris was the main reason for unexploded WW2 bombs, Verdigris contaminated copper fuse contacts that then wouldn't earth, no current = no bang. So clean metal + good cable to stake contact = great earth. The Human body is mostly made up of water which is an awesome conductor of electricity, so no need for anything other than your feet to earth out to the ground. Keep up the great work.

Hello. I love your videos and appreciate your time and effort to make them so entertaining and organic. Pun intended. As an avid hobby gardener with a pure love of our planet and her amazing abilities this video reminded me of a series of booklets I purchased way back in the 90s Jerry Baker, America’s Master Gardener (back cover) produced a series of volumes of gardening tips tricks and tonics. Specifically this reminded me of “electro Culture” that uses metal object preferably copper to “supercharge” your garden and harness the power of thunderstorms to convert oxygen to nitrogen, by placing metal stakes and stringing copper wire over the plants as well as metal stakes just around the plant, ie: tomato cage around a rose or pepper plant. He suggests using pantyhose also to stake the plants if needed for added electrostatic charge. All of which increases the fertility of the surrounding soil and benefits both the plant and your yields. It is a wonderful series and thank you for the reminder to review all before this year’s planting. Thanks for sharing the experiment.

I don't like to walk barefoot so I bought small grounding pads and wrist attachments that I use at work and at home. When I first set the pad up to sit on, my cats all sat on it. They are mainly indoor cats so that was quite a revelation to me. They now have pads they can sleep on. And I put them outside a few times a week when the weather is nice. (They also need sunshine, as do humans.). Life has gotten better for all of us.

I have to say it made perfect sense to me and gave me a bit of an ‘ah ha moment’ as my shoes are off at every opportunity in the house or garden! It’s never been a conscious decision because I had no idea about grounding, until a few yrs ago. it’s always been for comfort, not for my feet, more for me as a whole. G'day Weedy,
    Two comments about grounding.
1 I was once told that if you knock a nail into a tree and ground it . There will be enough electricity to light a LED. Never tried it though.
2 I was also told never knock a copper nail into the tree as it's toxic to plants in large quantities.
So perhaps have an experiment with the flowers. One with either steel wire or have the tent peg suspended in the water attached to the copper wire and another with the copper direct into the water.

A great school science project. Lots of variables to manage (mitigate). Irrespective of the outcome, it's worth talk8ng about the psychological benefits of bare feet. Think about it: walking around barefoot and NOT being socially marginalised (in Aussies contexts at least) means you're probably living in a less populated, semi-final.setting - not rat-racing! - and spending t8me with people who are not rat-racing. Being it the electromagnetic marvels or just barefoot freed9m, it's all good. Keep up the good work!

John P, there is a company in the US that sells grounding flip flops. I prefer to wear shoes since I stepped on a lot of rusty nails as a kid. So I use grounded flip flops (the soles are noticeably heavier), or a grounding strap to ground. Also, real leather soles will allow you to ground as the leather absorbs a small amount of water and grounds you. One reason why this has only become an issue in the last few decades. Cheers.

I would have thought this is a bit crazy, until about a year ago. Grew some hemp microgreens under the south pole of a strong magnet (in about 2 cups worth of cheap potting mix) and 6 plants made it to maturity, near 6 foot high. This was indoors, with about an hour of direct light. The universe is electric, there's so much going on that we are completely ignorant of. Love the channel.

Hämoglobins of the blood flow more in sync after grounding. Major part of our body is water, so imagine what that power does for the body! I included grounding in my healing program now and practice it daily! Even 10 minutes will do! Love your channel and stories. ❤️☀️💫🙏🏽

I’ve always noticed plants planted directly in the ground generally grow better than potted plants, but of course there are many variables. Your experiment if done many times could actually show a causation, unless intention makes a difference also :-O

I think it is great to be grounded. I find it really helps me. I am a little bit against having constant light for the experiment though. Most plants need a rest or dark period. Even cut flowers. As an example look at cut tulips. They will still open and close based on light. Without the rest period, they might not be able to utilize the negative ions from the ground.

I’ve been grounding since December. Previously an electrical engineer currently a Maths teacher, take all things at their face value. Scoffed at by my partner for this ‘snake oil’ science. Since Christmas my eczema has cleared up, and my plague of old running injuries have cleared up, and I’m able to run again. No pain or swelling after running when grounded. Both my ‘cures’ may be a coincidence, but so pleased to see you bringing this area of medicine/science up to a wider audience. Try to get outside everyday (even in UK snow) and sleep with a wire around my wedding ring, attached to the earth socket. Dont recommend this if you don’t know what you are doing. Have finally placed an order for an earthing mat, so go to the next level. Keep up the informative videos. They are an escape! If new to Earthing check out Clint Ober in the US.

Hi David, i`m realy fascinated by the power of grounding.
i have hiper thyroid problems for a few years, and the doctor wants some drastic aproach to solve it, to wich i said no!
i did a lot of research and learned that the energy in my body is always from my chest up, and every moment i have in nature i would always walk barefoot, for the amusement of others, that called me a freak... so in the end i had too little earth. End up finding some grounding mats, wich i use everiday, and in less than one week, the swallow in my throat started to desapear, and my body relaxing like never before... Tks for letting everybody know.

Interesting, I just finished a book called teaming with nutrients, that explains how plants feed. One part of the process is that root cells produce a positive charge to attract negatively charged mineral ions when required. Not sure how that works for a cut flower, but for a growing plant it has to have access to the right foods and minerals to grow. 😎👍

I’m generally sceptical of everything so I really appreciate your approach to this by getting everyone to send their experiments in. I’m very keen to see what ends up happening. It’s so hard to perform this kind of experiment properly with all the possible variables. For example when you say that you’ll be healthier with your hands in the dirt I agree but it could just be because you’re more likely to be doing physical activity compared to someone without their hands in the dirt. This isn't an example with water, but here goes anyway...
As a massage therapist, in school we learned about grounding ourselves to the earth with our bare feet. It doesn't have to be bare soil. Standing on grass, or stones works too. Anything natural that is in direct contact with the earth's soil works.
    (I've never done it standing
    in water!)
Ideally, you don't want extra layers between you, and the soil.
Wearing shoes diminishes the effect. For example- if you are standing (or sitting works too, as long as your feet are squarely on the ground) standing barefoot on a marble tiled surface, that has been set with mortar, which is laid on concrete, which THEN is in direct contact with the earth's soil, the grounding effect IS diminished by all those layers, and all the possible synthetic materials added.
It's the same with wearing shoes. When you stand on bare soil, or a bare stone that is in direct contact with the earth, then you are directly connected to the stream of energy the earth has to offer.
In massage therapy, the process of transferring the clients energy away from yourself involves mental awareness, your own physical energy, and visualization.
This is a necessary application of that job because of the transference of energy between the 2 humans. You don't want to keep someone else's energy to yourself.
We humans tend to carry baggage! It's just not healthy to hold on to someone else's baggage.
A massage therapist has to learn how NOT to absorb negative energy (or positive energy too) from the client. That energy from the client HAS to go somewhere.
When our bare feet are touching the earth, the earth sends energy upward thru the human, and out into the heavens. It's an energy stream.
If a person wants to rid themselves of negative energy, this can be done with this same principle. The energy stream comes up thru the earth, into our feet, and we can reach our hands up to the sky, pointing our fingers up as if beams of energy are moving through them. (So don't hold your fingers in a clenched position) This action, along with the mental process, releases the energy stream that has moved through us.
Many people don't believe this to be a real thing.
I rarely have a chance to talk about these things here in the U.S. as the majority of the population simply turns their nose up at these types of things. They prefer to slap the label of "flake" on to those of us who speak of these things.
    Which is sad, I think.
I have a hard time describing how it feels to move energy around like this. I do have examples of how I could feel a client's energy before I released it. However, because nothing is provable, the nay sayers don't believe.
Like I said, I've not much practice in talking about it.
I can simply say this IS a real thing.
    It does take practice though.
If you just walk outside and try it, it may not really feel like anything to you. You have to use all the other tools your mind is capable of to actually feel it. ♡

I've been grounding for a couple of months now. I use a tens machine sticky pad plugged onto the cord of an antistatic strap and the alligator clip of the strap is attached to a wire that is connected to earth. I have noticed I can feel the energy flow out of me when I connect. I am more even tempered since starting it and if I find myself uptight, anxious or overly upset I will head to the bedroom and plug in for a while and the emotion dissapates. I know it is working because before starting to ground it never did dissapate when I took time out. I will apply the pad to areas of pain and in a short while it dissapates. I would love an earthing mat for our bed or the sheets you spoke about but financially that is not possible right now. PS Love your channel. Edit I will be planting my strawberries in planters off the ground this coming spring (I'm in NZ) and fully intend to run a copperwire from each plant to earth. It just seems to make logical sense to me that if you want your food to continue to be as nourishing as it is when you grow it in the ground you would take steps to earth it.

The tent stake is most likely making a connection to the ground, but a longer rod would offer less resistance in the connection. Maybe 6-8 feet down would improve the results?
