- Welcome to Movie Shortens. The Sons of Ipswich includes four boys: the leader Caleb, Pogue, Reid, and Tyler. The four pals also have a 300-year-old secret in common: they're warlocks, teenage offspring of a 17th-century witch coven. When the long-absent fifth son reappears and threatens to murder their loved ones, they understand they must come together as a team to prevent him from snatching their powers and eternally breaching the treaty.

The more power he uses the more his body's going to wear out but he still decides to use his power to fix a fricking windsheild.
Small uses like that especially if frequency of use is low is a drop in the bucket. The problem is that it can snowball. The more you use the bigger chance of getting highly addicted to using where you will use beyond the bodies ability to handle. I bet when Highley addicted a user will use so even though there bodies have not recovered and use life span as a replacement. I am just guessing. I like to dream :P

In terms of analogy, I think it’s not like a candle burning out, but like a balloon being filled. You can use small amounts of power and it won’t have lasting effects on your body. But use too much at once/continually, and you will get stretched out or pop.

They definitely needed to add more backstory on their lineage. How they got their powers, where they came from etc... It would also have been more interesting to learn more about Reed, Tyler and Pogue, and see them as they develop their powers.

It could’ve been a great movie but it was executed so poorly. I like alot of the actors. Sebastian Stan in particular is fantastic actor, but man this was bad. And I’m NOT a movie snob. I enjoyed the shadow hunters series and movies, the Shannara chronicles were okay( books were better but I still enjoyed it) etc. but this movie wasn’t great, it tried too hard to be edgy.

This movie had a very good original idea. Too bad it wasn't a series. If you watch the movie you will notice how the storyline moves too quickly, jumping over some important moments and rushing things. Also the actors are visibly fake as they didn't have enough time to get into character. If this was a series it could have developed much better. I think it had the pottential, expecially since I'm a Twilight and any other supernatural teenage romance film fan.😍

according to a woman in production, they needed to digitally add MORE STEAM in the shower scenes due to it being too clear haha
Fun fact the guy who plays Caleb was originally cast as Jacob in Twilight. He had a scheduling conflict but was supposed to return for the second movie. However Taylor Lautner ended up getting to keep the role since he was in better shape

What’s the point in adding 3 other boys? Caleb takes most of the spotlight.
Maybe this is based on some book series and there’s a story on each of the guys? Idk, it certainly has that vibe and it’s a common YA/teen book series structure. I can see the first story being about Caleb causes he’s the first to turn 18, the villain also disappeared, the second would be about another one of the guys’ 18 birthday and the villain comes back or something. I can see little other reason they would go with this odd format.

I guess the film was made on the wake of the Twilight movies, boy band looking mythical creatures usually portrayed as grotesque and dangerous.
The movie came out in 2006, filmed mostly in 2005, so no, this is not a result of the Twilight movies. The first Twilight movie was 2008. And the boys in the Covenant are just desendants of warlocks, basically just humans with magical powers. It's not a movie that was banking on the popularity of Twilight. Sorry, it's one of my favorite movies and wished it was far better than it was as it had so much potentials. It did have one of Sebastian Stan's (Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier) first movie roles.
More likely it was made as a male equivalent to The Craft. There were a fair few teenage supernatural movies before Twilight.

I'm keeping my opinion that the music and teenage movies from the 2000's are the best. The plots, the sounds, the astethics, colors and clothes are just dreamy. It makes me feel so cozy and normal. I may be a little subjective because I'm a 2000's kid but who cares. How I wish I could go back in time... .

I loved that movie when I watched it first tim! And all other times 😊 I wish there were sequels/series!! The actors are gorgeous, the idea is interesting. I don't understand why it didn't work out.

it's because this aging problem only starts once they're 18. before that they can use it without any problems. but my guy just uses it to fix his windshield the first thing after ascending lol

I wish the final fight had them doing more with their power instead of just shooting energy balls, it’s so simple. They seem to be able to do anything, whatever they want they just need to be creative. But they probably didn’t have the budget to do that

I saw this years ago. I remember when it showed one of the boys dad, I thought his dad had him really late but his dad apparently age faster than normal due to the side effect of his powers.
I love this movie! In the plot they were all born 1988 same as me, so I thought I was going to ascend at 18 🤣🤣🤣

I like how he waited for the fireman to walk past so he didn't see it, you know ignoring the like 40 others around and at least 1 may have see it anyways.
For the guy and others talking about his power destroying him and he uses it to fix the winshield he ascended so using it afterwards doesnt damage him the same way as before if at all

I LOVED this
Ngl when you first see the guys when they jump off the cliff you think they must be vampires. When I saw it as a kid it instantly brought back memories of Twillight and that other vampire movie called The Lost Boys. The dude with the bleach blonde white hair was very reminiscent of David's hair from the lost boys. (The lost boys is an 80s movie but def worth seeing. The music in it is great too.)
