*How does it work?*
In Minecraft Bedrock Edition, players on any version can join the available 'Featured Servers'. By using a DNS server, we can make the domains that are used to join these servers, and make them direct to the BedrockConnect serverlist server, rather than their actual servers.
The BedrockConnect serverlist server, is a specially made Minecraft server that serves the purpose of joining Minecraft servers. Yes, you join Minecraft servers, from a Minecraft server. The server can transfer you to the server you want, and you can store servers as well, just like a regular serverlist.
*What is a DNS server?*
A DNS server is what devices uses to know what domain names go with what IP address. Your device sends the DNS server a domain name and asks what IP is associated with it, and the DNS server sends an IP back for the device to connect to. Commonly used ones include Google or Cloudflare DNS. Anyone can technically create a DNS server, and have it associate whatever IP they want to a domain. In this case, we make the 'Featured Server' domains direct to our own server.
*I don't trust your DNS server...*
The public BedrockConnect DNS server only redirects the domains of the "Featured Servers" in Minecraft to the BedrockConnect serverlist. (Full list of records under the "Using your own DNS server" section) It's understandable though why some might not want to use a random DNS server. If you fear a MITM attack, you can also verify any domains you fear the DNS server are overriding by pinging them in command line or another tool. If you still don't feel comfortable using the BedrockConnect DNS server, you can also make your own. Look under 'Using your own DNS server' further down this page for more on that.
*Some featured server aren't redirecting to the serverlist*
If some featured servers are redirecting to the BedrockConnect serverlist, and some aren't, this can be an issue with the DNS cache on the device/game console not updating. Nothing can really be done except wait when on the game console for the cache to clear, as there isn't a manual way to do it on these devices.
Another possible issue is that some of the featured servers such the Hive, use DNSSEC, which is used to protect itself from being overidden by DNS servers such as BedrockConnect. This is still being tested, and seems to work on some people's consoles and not on others.

Just a tip if it doesn’t work close minecraft and go back into the settings re enter the both codes and now it should work this worked for me

This is exactly the video i was looking for! I knew bedrock had *servers* but it didn’t occur to me that non promoted servers outside of the 5 on the server tab were even accessible until recently. This tutorial worked great, and i hope to find a server that performs well with bedrock. I tried one but they were java/bedrock and the frames i was getting was unplayable.
I expected this not to work I have tried a lot of different tutorials and nothing worked but this tutorial actually works! I can now finally play zeqa. Thank you so much!

Off topic but when you buy a realm, how do you separate mods from just people playing? Like I want my mods to be in creative mode and the members be in survival. Including the members not destroying/griefing the builds. Can I make any changes on mobile?
You can run the command "/op [username" to give them operator which gives them commands, or change that via the realm member screen or pause screen. Then players opped will be able to use commands to go into creative mode

How for me doesn't work
It..actually worked. I was pretty bummed when I made a server last night just to find out the ONLY TWO people I play with can't join because they're on Xbox. Now I just need to figure out how to take my Realm and transfer the save into the server.

Any server I joined always had the server list again with add server, but since I got the series X Xbox, the option is gone and any servers I choose goes straight to it. I don’t want to lose my world with friends

Before I do this on the DNS thing what does it actually do to the console or whatever I'm a bit confused

doing all the steps, but could it be im on ipv4/ipv6? if so whats the workaround? ive tried all dns servers, along with all servers but they all either load me in, or never load
I believe you have to change the settings in your router, but not 100% sure how
For me I click on a random sever like the hive and it says “connecting to external server” then says “unable to connect to server” idk what to do
Try restarting your Xbox, or a different featured server, or finally an alternative DNS IP which is linked in the description.
What I did is add the gamertag "McBEFC" as friend and does the same thing without using DNS. Its on the alternate methods page.

Good question! You should be fine to play other games, it shouldn't effect your internet performance or anything.

Tried this 2 days ago with the uk dns then all the rest but it’s still not working :(
Make sure you restart your Xbox, or give it time for the DNS cache to reset. Also the country doesn't matter for which DNS IP you use.

It shouldn't, I would recommend taking a look at the FAQ in the pinned comment to understand more about how this works.
So i have tried all different dns 1 numbers but for some reason the server list isnt coming up with the join to server option.

All the DNS IPs work no matter which country you are in (I'm in the UK and as you can see it works fine for me)
So I’m following along exactly how you have it right and I go into Mineville it just boots up the server. It doesn’t give me a list of options. It just loads me into the server.

Ive been through ai many different tutorials and uve delted and reinstalled mc as well and it still doesnt work on my xbox why?

Most of the worked, but whenever I try and join a server, it doesn’t work. I don’t know if I’m just spelling it wrong or something’s wrong with my Xbox.
Make sure the server is a bedrock server, and you are added to the whitelist etc.

Question how do you record on Xbox with this high quality because I stream my phone into the Xbox and it makes it cloudy with 60 frames it looks bad

My Wi-fi is Ip v4 and Ip v6, to do this metod my Wi-fi needs only ip v4? Because that dont worked.

it worked for me for two days, then i left my friends server then went to rejoin and it says i was unable to connect to the world. do i need to change the dns again?
Normally that error message means its an issue to do with the server itself

I don't think its outdated, sometimes when they release a new update you do have to wait for it to be updated though.
Make sure to restart your Xbox and give it some time to refresh the old DNS cache.
It doesn't give me the live chat option I have tried restarting my Xbox, restarting it, and reentering the dns it still isn't working

can you do it with ultimate? i use my father's account and he pays for ultimate, because he uses xbox pretty often, and i do aswell, he lets me uuse his account for minecraft and whatever other game, for instance, in any COD game we both play, end up boosting eachother, but anyways, is it possible or nah.

What was the error? Also just set it back to automatic instead of manual to fix it, but not sure why that happened in the first place.

Would appreciate it greatly if anybody could help. Started a private server and am trying to get my nephews xbox one s to connect to it. I followed all the steps in the video and when i got to the point on the server page to "Join to Open Server List" all the servers have no ping and I can't connect to them to get to the server list menu. No, it's where that DNS server is located. Try joining a different featured server if you haven't already, sometimes that works too

I have no idea what I did wrong, but I can’t get it to work. I changed the dns to all of the US ones from the descriptions’ links, and none of them worked. Yes, I did restart my Xbox after each dns change. And yes, I also tried each of the 6 featured servers and not a single one worked. I will join your discord server and look for help there if need be. Thanks.
It doesn't just have to be the US ones, technically any work. Maybe try leaving it for a bit as sometimes it needs time to clear the DNS cache? Also sometimes changing the secondary DNS to 8.8.4.4 or 1.1.1.1 works better
