Screen Tearing in Desktop mode: If you run the game via desktop mode, there might be some screen tearing/vsync issues, like in the video towards the end. I added SH2EEconfig.exe (found in your SH2 folder after the EE is installed) to steam as a non steam game. Change proton to 7.0-6 and run it. the first tab is Display and the first option should be screen mode. Change it from windowed to full screen, click save and close it. Shouldnt have screen tearing issues anymore.

Hey, thanks for the video. I've had my Steam Deck for almost a year now, and for whatever reason, it's been a real pain trying to get this to consistently run, as it would always boot to base PC version after playing it once. This is the first to tutorial that I have seen that has gotten this to work! And great timing, considering I've been waiting to revisit after seeing the gameplay reveal for the remake.

Hmm I don't see why not! I believe sh4 is on GOG and can be installed via hero launcher, but not 100% sure. I'll look into sh3 and 4 for sure.
so i've been digging to find a way to get sh3 to work. the only method i can find, doesnt seem to work anymore? keeps throwing an error at the end of installation. best bet for sh3 would be to use PCSX2 (playstation 2 emulator) to get it running. i'd gladly do a guide for that if needed. As for 4, you can buy it on GOG, install heroic game launcher via the discovery store on the steam deck and run it through that. or again, play the PS2 version via PCSX2.

Definitely a great little machine. Use mine for mostly emulation or older games like sh2. Still waiting on news for steam deck 2 but who knows

Google Ryujinx emulator. Takes a couple things to get it fully set up but it'll walk you through.

Hmm I can't say for certain the exact issue, but let's narrow it down a little bit. Were you able to run the enhanced edition installer and it installed everything?

gonna be honest with you, to me, it sounds like your trying to run SH2pc.exe without installing the enhanced edition mod. just by the way you worded everything. I could be wrong. So lets start from there just incase. You've added the SH2EE.exe to steam and ran that? not SH2pc.exe.

Well, a quick Google search didn't show anything for screen tearing which sucks. Are you in desktop mode or gaming mode? I didn't notice any when in gaming mode. If your in gaming mode, hit the ... Button on the deck and go to the performance tab. In there is an option to allow screen tearing. Make sure that's off. Other than that, I'll have to do some testing when I get home from work.
@@RetraBlaze ah okay. i was trying to do it in gaming mode but my controller and headphones didnt want to connects so thats why i played it in desktop mode.
I have read external controllers might not work if they are connected prior to starting the game. They said to start the game first, then connect the controller, then hit the steam button and go to the controller config And switch it to the controller. Haven't tested that myself though.

hello again, I looked into the screen tearing issue. This worked for me. In desktop mode, in steam, add a non steam game like you did with the installer/sh2pc.exe. this time, add the SH2EEconfig.exe and set to proton 7.0-6. run that. Under the first tab, should be Display, the first option should be screen mode. Mine was set to windowed, i changed it to full screen and clicked save at the bottom of the window. I ran the game and didnt notice any screen tearing in desktop mode anymore. hopefully that'll help you.
ive wasted my whole day yesterday with this ...
first it was launching and installing through steam. after it nothing happened.
so i resetted my steam deck to factory settings. i installed all of it again biut the exe file dont open up in steam again. i was desperate and emulated it on pcsx2 and wasted another 5 hours because the xbox controller always paused when i pressed b and opened a menue when i pressed start.
man i could have just played through it on ps2 again.
and yes i also used proton 7.06. before i reset it it worked

Hmm I'm not sure what the issue would be. Couple friends told me this method worked for them, plus the other commenter. Only things I can think of are, is your deck updated to the most current update? And did you use proton 7.0-6?
@@RetraBlazei mean it should be on the newest firmware when i reseted it but maybe thats the problem.
i think i dont have an app that can open this exe file and thats why its not working. after 7.60 didnt work i tried the upper one but it didnt work either.
my question is just i got it to install once but once it was finished it just dissapeared and i didnt know how to start it.
maybe it was a storage problem. i dont know how to use my usb stick as my main storage option instead of the 64 gbs on my deck.
but like i said now nothing helps

Dang, I don't know for sure how to solve the issue. I can't seem to replicate it on my end. As far as I'm aware, there isn't a program to run the exe needed. Everything is handled by steam when the exe is added to steam as a non steam game. Let's see if we can narrow it down at all. How far did you get in the installation process? Like were you able to run the enhanced edition installer and do all that?

i just installed the launcher again and followed everything youndid step by step and voila it works. i will never delete it again and im very happy now.
Would be awesome if you could do some guides to install and set up retrodeck and pcsx2 scince i also have big problems with the controller input and to run the games out of retrodeck
i just have 1 more problem. my headphones dont work
they work fine on steam and its set to my headphones in the settings of my deck but in sh2 there is nothing.
