[- 00:28] 🚨 Potential Issues with the Slider
    - The reviewer highlights two potential issues with the slider - weak magnets and substandard balls.
    - The reviewer compares the balls in this slider to another slider he reviewed previously, noting they were similarly poor quality.
    [- 01:21] 💰 Pricing Concerns
    - The reviewer questions the pricing of the slider, noting it was $35 but came with poor quality balls, while a more expensive version had similar issues.
    - The reviewer suggests the higher-priced slider should have offered options for better quality ball materials.
    [- 02:17] 🔧 Removing the Pivot Pin
    - The reviewer demonstrates the process of removing the pivot pin using the included key tool.
    - The reviewer notes that the pin tends to vibrate loose and may require Loctite to keep it in place.
    [- 03:43] 📦 Storing the Removable Balls
    - The reviewer shows how he stores the removable balls in a separate container to make them easy to replace.
    - The reviewer notes that the cheap balls provided with the slider can cause issues with the slider's performance.
[- 04:21] 🔊 Improved Performance with Ceramic Balls
    - The reviewer replaces the stock balls with ceramic balls, resulting in a more crisp and responsive feel.
    - The reviewer notes that the cheap stock balls can cause the slider to jump off the track.
    [- 05:30] ⚙️ Pivot Pin Slider Operation
    - The reviewer demonstrates the slider's operation as a pivot pin slider, noting it works well in this configuration.
    - The reviewer also notes that the weak magnets become more of an issue when using the slider in the free-floating mode.
[- 06:18] 🔍 Examining the Removable Pivot Pin
    - The reviewer takes a closer look at the design of the removable pivot pin, noting the inclusion of a rubber o-ring to help absorb impact.
    - The reviewer suggests the pin could have been designed better to prevent it from loosening over time.
    [- 08:25] 🧩 Comparing Ladder Performance
    - The reviewer compares the ladder performance of the YEDC/42COSMO slider to two other sliders he owns.
    - The YEDC/42COSMO slider struggles with laddering due to its weak magnets, while the other sliders perform better in this regard.
    [- 14:23] 📏 Slider Measurements
    - The reviewer provides the physical dimensions and weight of the YEDC/42COSMO slider.
    - The slider measures 45mm in diameter, 25mm in width, and 12mm in thickness, weighing approximately 88 grams.

Dang, never fun to hear a bad review about one of my favorites and imo underrated slider. Having said that, I've bought 2 SS versions and there seems to be a difference in magnets strength between the two. I swapped the weaker one out with N52s and they now both seem to be on par with each other. When lattering, I tend to tilt a bit horizontal on the last part to adjust for the weight or use my pinky as a little "brake". I loved this little guy so much I even bought the Zircuti version of it, which is 34g lighter so lattering on that is effortless. That tool is a waste of time, just pinch with your fingers and turn, the post will come right off. A great review regardless!

Why not just change the magnets to stronger versions? Also… I got a 2nd hand soap slider w/insert and one magnet was installed the wrong way polarity wise. How can I remove a glued in magnet?

I got mine second hand and the minute I took your advice and swapped out the balls for ceramic the difference was huge. So much better. My only challenge now is finding that tool. Any idea at all where to find just the tool for the post? It's really tricky to tighten the post (mine comes loose) without it

      Cool 👍
Glad it works better. I don't think you'll have much luck getting that tool, but there's another option..
Maybe consider picking up a cheap set of "dividers" off Amazon, or at your local hardware store. You can adjust the distance between the points and use it as a makeshift wrench.
It will work for this slider and any other spinners you might have with a similar threaded retention ring.
Here's a link to one on Amazon, so you at least understand what I'm talking about:
ZLKSKER 4 Inch Professional Leather Compass, Precision Spring Wing Divider/Scriber, Metal Compass for Woodworking, Metalworking a.co/d/6inkZra

Great review , I’m guessing these sort of sliders aren’t meant to be laddered ?

    • @bruner
      @bruner  Před rokem +3

It will work as a free-floating slider (with no pin), it just isn't great at doing fancy tricks like laddering..
At the time this was designed and manufactured, the idea of "laddering" probably hadn't even been done by anyone yet.
I think, had they known, they might have used stronger magnets..
Well, here's hoping that they eventually make some improvements.. 👍🙂

@@bruner The 30 grams lighter Zircuti one ladders with ease. But I agree, laddering was probably the last thing on their mind.

The best pivot slider is The Stamp. Period.

I love that one too 👍
The Stamp works just fine without the pin.. I almost included it as a comparison piece for this review, but It was so much smaller than the others, that I decided to exclude it.

@@bruner yes it is very universal i love it. BTW what do you think about the Pig Coin? It has this unusual mechanism - i want to buy it but wonder if it is better than regular coin with magnets? What are your thoughts?
