Do you have any suggestions on how to adjust the bobbin thread tension on this machine? I have to have my regular thread tension up to 8 or 9 to make my stitches work on a flat stitch.

The tensions are set for a standard 50 thickness thread. If you are using a thicker thread you may have to turn up your tension. If you want to adjust your bobbin case tension its the tiny silver screw on the bobbin case itself. Ordinarily your top thread tension would be on 4.
