You can, lower the feed dogs / teeth using the switch on the back of the machine which is in line with the needle plate then attach a darning foot which you may need to buy, make sure it's a genuine Janome darning foot for category b/c machines and you're set to go. Have fun.

Is there a way to oil it? Does it need oil maintenance? I can't find any mention in the manual.

Do you have a bobbin thread tension troubleshooting video? Mine is way off and I can’t figure out why or what is going on.

I am very disappointed that I cannot free motion quilt with this machine,

@christajohn8948 If you can lower the feed dogs, you can free motion quilt, no? Once you lower the feed dogs, you control the fabric hence, free motion quilting.
